The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 2781: Chapter 2781: Something to Say (Part 4)

The guards outside immediately began a grand search in the palace, but it was as if the person had vanished into thin air.

When the news reached them, Qi Jingyi and the others were stunned. How could Concubine Shun suddenly disappear?

”She might not have been in the palace for quite a while.” Yang Ruxin, however, frowned. Earlier when she entered the palace, she saw several eunuchs leaving the palace on business at the gate. She had glanced at them for a moment because one of the old eunuchs looked and walked strangely. Only now did she realize it was not an old eunuch but Nanny Yun in disguise.

”Xinxin, did you notice something?” Qi Jingyi looked at Yang Ruxin.

Yang Ruxin closed her eyes briefly: ”This is clearly the Chan shed its shell tactic of the Han King when he realized the situation in Beijing was unfavorable.”

”What Chan shed its shell?” Just then, Emperor Xuanjing entered in anger, hearing the latter few words.

”Emperor, if my guess is correct, Concubine Shun should have been out of the palace for a long time, and she might be hundreds of kilometers away from Beijing by now.”

”What do you mean?”

”The Han King’s wife died and was laid in state, and Concubine Shun went to mourn, even having tea at the Wang Residence.” Yang Ruxin rubbed her brow, ”Emperor, think about it, have you seen Concubine Shun since then?”

They were all smart people, ready to grasp the hint.

Emperor Xuanjing frowned. Indeed, since returning from the Wang Residence, Concubine Shun claimed to be unwell, and for the past few days, only Imperial Physician Hu was allowed to diagnose her pulse, while she remained behind closed doors. It turns out... Suddenly his face changed, and he slapped the table: ”Someone, order the Han King to return to Beijing immediately.”

Yang Ruxin, however, said nothing more, as she didn’t hold much hope for retrieving Concubine Shun and the Han King. If her estimation was correct, Concubine Shun should have been sent away long ago, and the coffin was merely a decoy. After half a day out of the city, they could only retrieve the coffin.

Indeed, four hours later, the guards reported back, retrieving the coffin but not seeing the Han King or Concubine Shun. Those servants said they had never seen Concubine Shun, and the Han King disappeared shortly after leaving the city.

At that time, Yang Ruxin had already left the palace and returned home. Upon hearing that the Emperor almost tore down the Royal Study Room, she could only smile.

That night, Qi Jingyun arrived.

”Isn’t this the wise and mighty War God, Prince Yun? Released from confinement?” Yang Ruxin smiled, ”Congratulations.”

Qi Jingyun didn’t get angry at Yang Ruxin’s teasing but instead sincerely said ”Thank you.”

”No need for formality.” Yang Ruxin refrained from continuing to tease and indicated for him, ”Sit down, I have something to say to you.”

Qi Jingyun sat down and looked at Yang Ruxin seriously.

”While investigating this matter, I also dug into some past events.” Yang Ruxin looked up at Qi Jingyun, raising her eyebrows slightly ”Related to your mother.”

”I’ve owed you quite a bit already. Don’t sell the suspense. Someday, if I can, I’ll repay you.” Qi Jingyun gave a faint smile.

”Ah, Prince Yun, it’s better if you maintain a poker face like before.” Yang Ruxin frowned, ”When you smile at me like that, it makes me feel uneasy.”

Qi Jingyun’s mouth twitched; his smile was so gentle, yet she... forget it, he wouldn’t fuss over it.

”Much more pleasing to the eye.” Yang Ruxin exaggeratedly sighed in relief as she watched him return to his usual stern demeanor.
