The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 2776: Chapter 2776: Condolences (8)

Yunxiong is the official consort of the prince, holding a First-rank Imperial Edict, and the Yong Family is also a prominent clan in Hanzhong, so her funeral cannot be handled hastily.

However, the weather is currently hot, and sending a message to Hanzhong and then having people come from Hanzhong would take over a month, which is simply not feasible to wait.

Originally, Yunxiong could be buried in the Imperial Mausoleum, but since the fief of the King of Han is in Hanzhong, even he wishes to be buried there after his death. Naturally, his wife cannot be left alone in the Beijing Imperial Mausoleum, especially considering that Yunxiong’s family is all in Hanzhong. Burying her there would also be a comfort to the Yong Family.

The King of Han hopes to personally escort the coffin back.

Outwardly, he and the princess consort have always been deeply affectionate, making this request reasonable.

If the Emperor doesn’t agree, it would seem inconsiderate.

Thus, the Emperor agreed, and the journey was set to begin in three days, during which the King of Han and the consort would receive everyone’s condolences.

Yang Ruxin, however, felt that things were not so simple, as there had been progress in the investigations over the past few days. Although the little eunuch Little Erzi who jumped into the river last time served at the Glazed Palace, further inquiry revealed that he and Hong Yu were from the same hometown.

And before the incident, someone saw Hong Yu giving something to Little Erzi.

The evidence directly pointed to Consort Shu.

Qi Jingyi and Qi Jingrong had just tricked Hong Yu into custody, and then Yunxiong died.

No matter how one thinks about it, this matter seemed far from simple.

Nevertheless, the formalities needed to be observed, such as going to pay respects to Yunxiong.

Gu Qingheng rushed back from Haijin City specifically.

The Wang Residence was already filled with white mourning clothes, and all the servants were dressed in white, with cries heard everywhere.

Upon entering the main gate with Gu Qingheng, Yang Ruxin was guided through the courtyard into the mourning hall, where a dark coffin was placed in the center. The coffin lid was not closed, allowing people to see the person lying inside.

Yunxiong’s two main maids, Chui Zhu and Jade, stood by either side, continuously burning paper, bowing and thanking those who came to offer condolences, effectively taking on the role of Yunxiong’s children.

After lighting incense and paying respects, Yang Ruxin stepped forward, placing a bouquet of white flowers inside the coffin, naturally taking the opportunity to observe the body.

Yunxiong’s face appeared peaceful, as if she were merely asleep. But... Yang Ruxin noticed that the exposed finger looked nothing like a young woman in her twenties; it resembled more of a withered branch.

”General Gu, madam, thank you for coming.” Just as Yang Ruxin intended to examine more closely, Qi Jinghao entered, ”If Xiongxiong were aware, she would surely be very pleased.”

Yang Ruxin could only step back and sighed slightly, ”At least we were friends, and to think she left so hastily and unexpectedly—I hope she finds happiness in her next life.” She glanced at Qi Jinghao, ”At least meet someone who truly cherishes her.”

Qi Jinghao’s eyes turned red, ”It was indeed my failure for not taking good care of her.”

”Why haven’t you seen Consort Peng and Consort Wanyan?” Yang Ruxin scanned the mourning hall.

”Princess Ningzi is pregnant and shouldn’t stay here long. Xiaojing kept vigil all last night, so I asked her to rest this morning.”

”The Prince is actually very considerate.” Yang Ruxin’s eyes were filled with sarcasm.

Just then, there was an announcement outside, as Imperial Concubine and Consort Shu and Consort Xian came on behalf of the Emperor and Empress Dowager to offer condolences.
