The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 2235: Chapter 2235: Tranquil Years (Part 1)

”The words of the old lady sound quite philosophical.” Yang Ruxin nodded.

”Yes, my mother knows a lot of things. Although she’s a woman, she has read many books. Even my eldest uncle said that if my mother were a man, she would probably be a Champion. Her happiest moments were when she was reading while inhaling the fragrance of flowers or playing the zither amid the blooming flowers. At those moments, the smile on her face was serene... but unfortunately...” Gu Qingheng exhaled, ”Unfortunately, one day, all those plants and flowers died.”

Yang Ruxin frowned.

”Because Zou Qiuyue sneezed whenever she smelled pollen, Gu Sheng had all the plants and flowers thrown out... I remember that night, my mother sat alone by the window all night, and afterwards, her health slowly declined, and she never smiled again...”

Yang Ruxin firmly grasped Gu Qingheng’s hand: ”Qingheng, now, the old lady should also be happy and at ease.” The environment of Manzhi Villa is beautiful, and importantly, because she likes flowers and plants, the manor’s garden has supported many local villagers and has also become a sideline of the Shu Family.

”Yes.” Gu Qingheng’s mood quickly softened, ”Back then, my mother once stroked my face and said, ’My son, in the future, you must find a woman you mutually like to be your wife, you must treat your wife well, and you must never betray her, otherwise, I will die with regrets.’

”You certainly can do that, right?” Yang Ruxin playfully poked Yang Ruxin’s chest.

”Of course.” Gu Qingheng nodded, grasping Yang Ruxin’s hand, ”In this life and the next, I am yours.”

”Who wants you?” Yang Ruxin deliberately rolled her eyes at him.

”That won’t do; it’s already sealed, not wanting is not an option.”

”Still sticking to me?”

”Of course, in this life, the next life, and the one after that... I am yours, whether you want it or not.”

”Alright then, in the next life, I’ll be the man, and you’ll be the woman. I’ll marry you, but you’ll have to be even better looking.”

”What you say is what it is.”

Gu Qingheng then held Yang Ruxin tightly, but did nothing more; just held her, and for a moment, the air around them seemed to pause.

At that moment, Yang Ruxin’s heart was filled with a sense of ”peaceful time.”

They stood there quietly for who knows how long, until the sun set, when Gu Qingheng finally let go: ”Let’s go back.”

Yang Ruxin nodded: ”Gu Qingheng, do you know how to play the zither?”

”Do you want to hear it?”

”Yes.”

Gu Qingheng smiled slightly, taking Yang Ruxin back to the main courtyard.

The main courtyard is a two-section courtyard; the first section is for the guards and a few servants responsible for cleaning, and the second section is the main courtyard, with three main rooms, flanked by wing rooms and side rooms, each with two chambers.

In the left side room, there are bookshelves, a desk, and a zither table. On the zither table sits a black-painted guqin. Although Yang Ruxin doesn’t understand zither, she can see that it must be a good one, though she can’t say why, she just feels it’s extraordinary.

Gu Qingheng let go of Yang Ruxin’s hand and went to sit at the zither table, looked at Yang Ruxin, smiled slightly, and then raised his hand to pluck the strings.

The light in the room gradually dimmed, and Gu Qingheng, without looking at the strings, played softly, letting the music flow out like a spring.
