The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 2050: Chapter 2050: Appointment (Part 4)

The destiny of a noble lady is to marry into a powerful family, one that can bring benefits to her own family.

The Peng Family is no exception. Their son lacks the aptitude for studies and can only take over the family business, thus leaving the Peng Family as mere merchants forever.

They had sought to curry favor with the Shen Family in hopes that, through Chief of Staff Shen, they could become Imperial Merchants or have Mingzi marry into the Wang Residence, but no progress was seen over the years, despite giving a lot of Silver.

They have grown disappointed with the Shen Family.

With their daughter already eighteen, if they delay any longer, there wouldn’t even be an alliance to speak of, and they might just end up marrying her off to any family. What would become of that?

”These days, just sort through the eligible young men from suitable families and see if any fit the bill...” Peng Cheng sighed, ”You can’t rely on your elder sister’s side...”

”That’s true,” Madam Jia nodded, ”My sister’s life isn’t smooth either. The troubles from the Shen Family’s second branch are even more numerous.”

”The young lady has arrived.” At this time, a maid opened the curtain.

”Father, Mother.” Peng Mingzi entered and paid her respects.

”Ah, Zi.” Madam Jia waved her over, ”Why have you come at this time?”

Peng Mingzi handed over an invitation card, ”I came to inform Father and Mother that I need to go out for a while.”

”Good.” Peng Cheng smiled at once, ”Go ahead.”

”Isn’t this Madam Ruyi actually Yang Ruxin?” Madam Jia frowned, ”Master, this...”

”This what?” Peng Cheng glared at Madam Jia.

The words Madam Jia wanted to say were immediately cut off by the glare.

”Ah, Zi, if you can befriend this Madam Ruyi, then in the future... you might have a brighter future...” Peng Cheng got up and approached his daughter, ”Yang Ruxin is an extraordinary woman...”

Peng Mingzi smiled and nodded, then left with her maid.

Piaoxiang Tea House is the largest teahouse in the Prefectural City.

In a private room on the second floor.

”Commoner Peng Mingzi pays her respects to Madam Ruyi.” Peng Mingzi entered and bowed in respect.

”Miss Peng, there’s no need for formality.” Yang Ruxin smiled, ”Have a seat.”

”It’s been a long time.” Peng Mingzi did not stand on ceremony and directly took a seat opposite. The last time they met was during the plum-blossom banquet at the Shen Family, now it’s over a year ago.

”Yes indeed.” Yang Ruxin nodded, then pointed at the pastries on the table, ”The snacks here are good, give them a try.”

”Madam called me over, surely it’s not just for tea and pastries, right?” Peng Mingzi picked up a sesame cake, ”So why not speak plainly first? Otherwise, I can’t feel at ease.”

”Hehe.” Yang Ruxin laughed, ”Actually, inviting you out is somewhat presumptuous, but I can’t just watch a promising young man fall into despair because of a love setback, right? After all, it took me a few beatings to set him straight...”

Peng Mingzi furrowed her brow, then suddenly burst out laughing, ”Yang Ruxin, you haven’t changed at all.” After a pause, ”Although you are indeed presumptuous, I just can’t bring myself to dislike you.”

Yang Ruxin raised her eyes, ”You don’t dislike me, isn’t it because of my third-rank status?”

Peng Mingzi rolled her eyes rather rudely, ”If it were for your third-rank status, I’d still be trying to ingratiate myself with you.”

”Alright, then.” Yang Ruxin nodded, ”Now let’s give that lad some closure; otherwise, he’ll be miserable every day...”
