The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 2020: Chapter 2020: Trouble in the Gong Family

”But when our people went, they were simply refused to be seen...” Gong Yuan wore a bitter expression, ”If this continues...” the Gong Family might be finished.

”Have all the wineries been checked?” Gong Zhi exhaled, ”Is there an issue with all the wines?”

”We’ve already checked them all today. For some unknown reason, in our stored wines, surprisingly...” Gong Yuan frowned, ”Someone must have tampered with them.” But who could be so skilled? Able to swap out all the wines in the Gong Family’s cellar.

”No matter who it is, someone among us must have betrayed us; this time, we must conduct a thorough investigation.” Gong Zhi forced himself to calm down, ”Also, the family you found is simply... I don’t care what means you use, you must make them silent!”

Gong Zhi nodded, ”Rest assured, the dead cannot speak.”

Just as Wang Zhengzheng’s funeral concluded, Han Yun obtained a painting from a renowned artist of the previous dynasty, and invited Shen Mi, who had a keen interest and expertise in art and calligraphy, to his home to appreciate the painting and drink wine.

Shen Mi, being an expert in art and calligraphy, was genuinely excited upon discovering that Han Yun’s painting was an authentic piece.

Han Yun also felt delighted and pulled Shen Mi to drink wine, but then they ended up suffering severe diarrhea from drinking.

Both old men were advanced in age, and after enduring diarrhea for a whole night, how could they possibly withstand it? They couldn’t even attend court.

The Emperor was shocked, urgently dispatching the Imperial Physician, who determined that the wine had been diluted with a significant amount of water, and to prevent the flavor from being too weak, it had been soaked with Drunken Fairy Grass.

These two old men were poisoned by Drunken Fairy Grass.

Drunken Fairy Grass is a medicinal herb, yet it is also toxic; consuming it makes you feel drunk, and in larger doses, it can be fatal. However, after death, most Imperial Physicians would assume it was due to intoxication.

Thankfully, the amount soaked in the Gong Family’s wine was minimal, so the two old men merely suffered from diarrhea and did not die.

In fact, had Han Yun bought the wine from a small tavern outside, an incident was understandable, but this wine was an imperial special supply gifted by the Emperor.

The supply of items within the Palace is quite stringent; every item is not exclusive to a single Imperial Merchant, like the wines. The specialty wines provided by the Gong Family are meant for gifts, while another family exclusively supplies wines for palace banquets.

The wine Han Yun drank was an imperial gift of specialty wine, awarded last month with two jars, which resulted in an incident upon drinking. Wasn’t this a slap in the Emperor’s face?

The original incident with these two old men was troubling enough, but consecutively, more people who had consumed Gong Family wine began having diarrhea, some even developed fever; among them was the palace’s eunuch, Shui Gonggong.

Shui Gonggong enjoyed taking a sip when idle, inadvertently causing an incident; he was the Emperor’s second confidant, the godson of the Palace’s Chief Eunuch, Ping Gonggong.

It couldn’t be kept quiet at all.

Upon learning of this, the Emperor ordered the Imperial Physicians to thoroughly check all Gong Family wines within the Palace, discovering all had been soaked with Drunken Fairy Grass.

This angered the Emperor, coincidentally Han Wang was in the Palace to pay respects, he was tasked personally to investigate the Gong Family affair.

Xiao Jin was bewildered, seeking the Emperor in vain as she was not granted an audience. She was placed under house arrest, anxiously confined in the Glazed Palace.

Yun Xiu went to find Yang Ruxin, aware of the trouble befalling the Gong Family. He knew it was certainly this woman’s act of revenge, but he was blocked just as he arrived at the Gu Family’s door.

”I’ve come to see Madam Gu.”

”Yun Xiu, this is not the time to seek my wife, but rather you should be consulting your master.” Gu Qingheng, with a hand behind his back, came out to meet him.
