The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1858: Chapter 1858: I Told You Already (3)

Yang Ruxin didn’t stop her, letting Wei Yao cry her heart out, just handing her a handkerchief twice.

After a while, Wei Yao finally calmed down on her own, both handkerchiefs soaked with tears: ”Xinxin, I’ve lost my composure.”

”It’s okay, there are no outsiders here.” Yang Ruxin smiled, gesturing for Du Juan to go out and ask someone to bring in some water, ”It’s not losing composure, you’ll feel better after crying.”

Qiqiao helped Wei Yao wash her face again.

”Xinxin, actually, I feel ashamed to face you.” Wei Yao took a sip of warm water, feeling much calmer, ”When I first befriended you, I thought you were especially smart, and so impressive, not even afraid of the Shen Family. Later, seeing those gloves and other things you made, I really thought they were great, and genuinely wanted to collaborate for a win-win, especially with the dolls later on...”

”Originally, we just hoped to boost the business at the store in town, hoping to earn a bit more respect from my grandfather.” Wei Yao smiled bitterly, ”But who could have expected, the dolls were genuinely so good, it really straightened my father’s back, and even allowed him to take control of my marriage decisions... But who knew, my uncle’s ambition was so vast...”

And Wei Yao decided to spill everything, holding back nothing of what she knew. She understood that Xinxin was no ordinary girl, and if she lied, and was found out, there would be absolutely no room for reconciliation, especially as she was here seeking help.

Yang Ruxin said nothing, merely sitting there with a calm expression listening to Wei Yao’s tale, inwardly discerning truth from falsehood.

”My uncle dismantled the dolls you sent, took out the medicine packets inside, and replaced them with ones our own embroiderers made... they were sent to the store in Changhuai State, and especially to Beijing, where the prices often multiplied. My father remarked that just one doll’s price might be worth all the procurement costs... But because the supply was limited, even high prices didn’t mean much profit. My uncle wasn’t satisfied, so he asked my father to approach you all, to increase the supply, saying even higher prices were no problem. My father refused, and for that, he received a beating from my uncle... Upon returning, he directly used my marriage to threaten my father...”

”In any case, if my father disagreed, he had to come and negotiate with you all. If my father agreed to my marriage, then it would mean he had tied himself to a high official...”

”That Mr. Zhao is already forty years old, and yet he wants to marry a young girl barely in her teens?” Yu Qingge, hearing this, felt angry. On the way here, Wei Yao hadn’t mentioned this, and she hadn’t asked, but it turned out this was the situation, ”Your uncle is really something else.”

”The Wei Family does have connections in Beijing.” Wei Yao glanced at Yang Ruxin, ”You probably know this too, the Court of Judicial Justice Officer Wei Shicheng is my grandfather’s cousin, whom I call grand uncle. It’s just that his influence doesn’t reach far, and besides, a Court of Judicial Fifth-rank officer isn’t that high-ranking, so my uncle has always been trying to curry favor with local officials and state officers, but unfortunately, there hasn’t been any substantial progress. Later, my aunt finally got acquainted with the Zhao family’s second madam, and then hoped to use the Zhao family to get in touch with Lin Lang...”

”Lin Lang does have a decent official reputation.” Yang Ruxin nodded slightly.

”Yes, he does, but my aunt’s instigations can’t be resisted.” Wei Yao sighed, ”In the eyes of the big family, all of us are to be measured for value. Now it’s me, next it will probably be my younger brother, and my parents’ role might just be to take the blame if anything goes wrong in the future...”
