The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1750: Chapter 1750: Drinking Alcohol (5)

Everyone cursed inwardly, who keeps wolves and snakes as pets? But they didn’t dare show it on their faces; after all, she was the mistress.

Yang Ruxin was a considerate mistress and deliberately gave the servants at Hengxin Pavilion an additional month’s wages as compensation. She also asked the kitchen to make some snacks for everyone and provided a plate of fruits, to calm their nerves.

The other servants, who were jealous of those serving in Hengxin Pavilion before, now felt fortunate instead. This mistress had unique hobbies—though the treatment in Hengxin Pavilion was good, you needed a life to enjoy it, after all.

After comforting the servants, Yang Ruxin finally entered the house to freshen up and change clothes. Of course, Lun Yi and Hong Yi couldn’t attend to her at the moment.

”Madam, those people are probably scared stiff.” Du Juan suppressed a laugh.

”This will keep them honest for a while.” Yang Ruxin nodded, tossing a pear on the table to Du Juan, and took one herself, taking a bite. ”It’s a pity I can’t play them to death; otherwise, they’d surely send more people over, causing more trouble.”

Du Juan said nothing, feeling a twinge of pity for those spies.

While they were talking, someone outside announced that Gu Qingheng had returned.

Yang Ruxin, munching on the pear, went to the door to greet him, and as soon as Gu Qingheng entered, he wrapped Yang Ruxin in his arms.

Seeing this, Du Juan hurriedly retreated, not wanting to be a third wheel, and didn’t forget to take Yang Ruxin’s pear core with her.

”Have you been drinking?” Yang Ruxin quickly supported him into the inner room to sit down, smelling a faint scent of alcohol on him, and handed him a medicine pill.

”Just a little.” Gu Qingheng swallowed the pill but still didn’t let go of Yang Ruxin, letting her sit on his lap. ”Do you know who invited me for a drink today?”

”I don’t know.” Yang Ruxin shook her head. ”But it must be someone you don’t want to offend temporarily.”

”My wife is indeed clever.” Gu Qingheng laughed. ”It’s the one you’re investigating.”

”Prince Han?” Yang Ruxin frowned.

Gu Qingheng nodded, ”Because it’s the concubine’s birthday and the Envoy from Yuan Country is visiting, the Emperor has called several Princes to the capital...” He paused, ”Today, while wandering the street with only a guard, he dropped his purse...”

Yang Ruxin’s frown deepened.

”I was right behind him, picked it up, and returned it to him. To thank me, he had a drink with me in a small tavern,” Gu Qingheng chuckled. ”He didn’t reveal his identity, and neither did I, but I’ve seen him before... I just pretended not to know him... We chatted quite well...”

”Does it feel like ’meeting a soulmate too late’?” Yang Ruxin teased.

”Pretty much.”

”You’ve met him before; are you sure he doesn’t recognize you? Or, are you sure he didn’t deliberately drop the purse to test you?”

”I’m not sure.” Gu Qingheng pursed his lips, ”What you said is possible.”

”Haha,” Yang Ruxin laughed; she knew her man wouldn’t be so naive, ”Did you find out anything?”

Gu Qingheng shook his head, ”On the surface, he appears very low-key, speaks cautiously, only chatting about customs and local traditions... He’s very knowledgeable and gentle, easy for people to like...”

Yang Ruxin smiled, ”Seems like you have a high opinion of him.”

”On the surface, yes.” Gu Qingheng nodded.

”Let’s not talk about him now.” Suddenly, Yang Ruxin’s expression turned serious. ”I need to discuss the matter of the Sun Cult from Wa Country and our country’s Flame Sect with you...”
