The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1699: Chapter 1699: Receiving the Imperial Edict (1)

Yang Ruxin was taken aback for a moment, how could the imperial decree come here?

However, it frightened the others, as Dong Wenxiu had never seen such a scene, but the Feng Family understood and hurriedly instructed everyone to quickly tidy up their clothes, then gathered around Yang Ruxin.

”Xinxin, quickly change your clothes...”

”Mother, I’m just a village girl, where do village girls have so many formalities?” Yang Ruxin smiled, her clothes were simple and comfortable, nothing wrong with that, and then she glanced at everyone, ”Stay calm, let’s go.”

Everyone was relieved to see her calm demeanor.

Du Chengxiu, knowing these etiquettes, hurriedly had a table brought out, quickly set up the incense and offerings, and then let the eunuch in with the decree written on xuan paper.

A total of two eunuchs came, followed by a pair of guards. The leader Yang Ruxin had met before; it was Weng Hen, the close guard beside the Crown Prince.

This showed that the Emperor’s decree was announced with great fanfare this time.

Leading was Eunuch San, one of the most trusted beside the Crown Prince after Eunuch Lan, while Eunuch Shui was a managerial eunuch beside the Emperor.

The imperial decree was like that, Yang Ruxin had never seen it in this life, but in her past life, she had seen it on TV where various dynasties’ decrees began with ”By the command of heaven” and such, nothing special.

But since the family wasn’t accustomed to kneeling, nor had they thought of receiving such a decree, they hadn’t prepared thick kneeling pads, only a few ordinary ones used for annual festivals to worship heaven and earth, making it very uncomfortable to kneel.

But no matter how uncomfortable, they just had to endure it.

Fortunately, Eunuch San was swift and concise, quickly finishing reading the decree, which basically praised Yang Ruxin for her benevolent heart as a doctor, and her wisdom, elegance, and virtues.

Yang Ruxin didn’t take it seriously; the old Emperor hadn’t even met her, how would he know if she was elegant or virtuous? These words were just to be listened to.

”Yang Ruxin, express your gratitude.” Eunuch San folded the decree and handed it over.

Behind him, Eunuch Shui personally presented a tray covered with yellow silk, on which was a green jade finger-object.

After expressing gratitude, Yang Ruxin first received the decree, then handed it to Du Man, then received the jade finger-object and handed it to Du Juan.

But that wasn’t the end of it; since the Emperor had given a reward, others in the palace naturally wouldn’t miss it, whether they liked it or not, they had to spend a bit, but none would surpass the Emperor’s jade finger-object.

So, the Empress Dowager bestowed a string of agarwood Buddha beads, each bead round and smooth, showing they were often played with, indicating they were her personal belongings.

The Honored Concubine bestowed a Jade Pendant engraved with the characters for ”peace,” nothing particularly special about it.

The Virtuous Concubine Xiao Jin bestowed a pair of Hotan jade bracelets, although valuable, such gifts were common for noblewomen in Beijing and court, so it was just a formality.

And the Crown Princess Consort bestowed six bolts of Rainbow-colored Brocade in various colors. This brocade was said to be very rare, woven from Heavenly Silk raised using special methods. It was said that the silk naturally came in different colors, requiring no dye, and even emitted a faint seven-colored light, hence the name Rainbow-colored Brocade.

But the production of such colorful silk was very low, with only about a dozen bolts produced each year, exclusively supplied to the palace, then bestowed by the Emperor to the various lords.
