The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1671: Chapter 1671: The Emperor’s Sagacity (3)

Among the younger generation of the Shu Family, a few grandsons and granddaughters, apart from looking good, none are particularly outstanding, all in a state of being neither scholarly nor martial.

In-laws do not have any powerful families, mostly small well-to-do families with delicate daughters, and are unlikely to provide major support.

Such families are not intimidating.

Yet the Emperor feels a bit regretful, after all, Shu Xing has both knowledge and vision, so it’s a pity...

Now that he finally has a promising grandson, he certainly won’t suppress him.

Although this grandson belongs to the Gu Family, he doesn’t want to recognize his ancestral roots, which fits perfectly with the Emperor’s wishes.

After all, the Gu Family has been developing rapidly lately, Gu Sheng has served as the examiner for two sessions, with many disciples, some even holding important positions.

There’s no denying that the Emperor has already taken note of the Gu Family, and Gu Qingheng’s appearance as an adversary to the Gu Family aligns with the Emperor’s wishes.

All the favorable conditions are present, adding Gu Qingheng’s own capabilities, naturally returning to the public eye is effortless.

”Replying to Father Emperor, indeed, although Yang Ruxin is a village girl, she is a top student of the Divine Doctor Dao Xuzi. The Yuan people are detestable, using poison to harm our people. Luckily, Madam Gu’s miraculous skills brought rejuvenation, otherwise the consequences would be unimaginable...”

Gu Sheng’s eyebrows twitched, the Crown Prince actually referred to that village girl as madam, seems like this is to elevate that rebel.

”They will be back soon?”

”Calculating the time, they should enter the capital by the end of the month.”

”Gu Aiqing, what kind of reward do you think we should give Gu Qingheng? Oh, and his wife too...”

Gu Sheng felt even more uncomfortable inside but still had to speak, hurriedly pulling a smile more painful than crying: ”Your Majesty is wise, as citizens of Daxuan, every man has a duty in the country’s rise and fall, Thunder Dew are all imperial gifts.” Reward as you see fit, in his view, the best reward is none.

”Since that is so...” the Emperor slightly nodded, then stroked his short beard, ”how about conferring on him the title of Ningyuan General?”

Gu Sheng’s brow subconsciously furrowed, although Ningyuan General is a military loose position, it is still a proper Fifth-rank title. Previously directly given as Deputy Commander Zhenwei, now suddenly from Sixth-rank to Fifth-rank, this rebel’s promotion speed is quite rapid, but is he literately competent? Anyway, the world belongs to the Emperor, whatever he says goes.

”And his wife, how about conferring a county mistress title?”

This time, not only Gu Sheng was shocked, even the Crown Prince was a bit surprised, isn’t this reward too generous? Usually, titles like princess, commandery princess, county mistress are honors only borne by Imperial Family children.

With a title, one can receive funds and provisions from the Imperial Family every month, and if the Emperor is particularly fond, they might even be granted a piece of land, the taxes from which, besides the portion given to the national treasury, all belong to oneself, and one can even rightfully have a certain number of guards on their land.

The title of county mistress is typically held by daughters of Commandery Princes or Commandery Princesses, yet not all daughters qualify for such titles. For instance, presently, after three generations, there are only three county mistresses.

In Emperor Gaozu’s time, no county mistresses were conferred.

It was during the previous Emperor, Gaozong’s time, that the first county mistress was conferred.
