The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1440: Chapter 1440: I’ll Listen to You (2)

In the room next door.

”Sister Yingchun, how did you end up on the flower boat?” Du Juan had wanted to ask this question on the boat earlier, and now seeing that Yingchun had stopped crying, she finally spoke up, ”And how did your face get so severely injured?”

Yingchun took a deep breath and touched her face: ”I did it to myself.”

”Why?” Du Juan was incredulous.

”In my family’s generation, I am the only girl, so, naturally, the responsibility of guarding our ancestors’ oath fell upon me...” Yingchun forced a smile, ”Originally, life was quite peaceful, but later, someone found out about my family’s secret, and people came for us... My father hid me in a secret room and that’s how I escaped disaster, but the rest of my family, over thirty people, were all killed...” Tears started to fall again as she spoke.

Du Juan reached out to hold her hand, empathizing deeply since her own family was mostly gone too.

”How am I, a girl, supposed to survive? I could only wander and beg.” Yingchun closed her eyes for a moment, ”But inevitably, there are people who covet, and my skills are mediocre, I can’t protect myself, and once those people stripped my clothes, the tattoo on my back could not be hidden, I had no choice but to injure my own face...”

Du Juan hugged Yingchun.

”I originally went to Daping Village to look for Sister Lamei, but there was no one there anymore, I heard that the entire family had died, I was frightened and ran away quickly, then I thought of looking for Shaoyao, since her father had corresponded with my father, but I found nobody... When I arrived in Suzhou, I had long run out of money, after not eating for several days, I collapsed on the street and was saved by Madam Fang...” Yingchun forced a smile, ”Initially, I did rough work; with my appearance, Madam Fang disapproved of me, but once I happened to play the zither, she took notice of me...” She paused, ”I didn’t sign the Selling Covenant, just thought of earning some money to later find a place and adopt a girl to continue protecting our ancestral secret... I didn’t expect... that I could still meet you...”

Although the six families had never met, they occasionally contacted each other, and whenever selecting an inheritor, their elders would share each member’s situation with them, hoping that they would recognize each other when they met.

”It’s all right now.” Du Juan patted Yingchun’s shoulder, ”With the young miss, no one will bully you anymore...”

”That young miss, she...”

Du Juan shared her own story and introduced Yang Ruxin as well, her tone filled with admiration: ”If you wish, you can also stay by the young miss’s side, only she can protect us and our secret...”

”But...”

”I also had my reservations, but my father said, after so many years, the Song Dynasty had long since vanished, we’ve guarded this secret for so many years without disgracing our ancestors, if there really is someone who can unlock that treasure, then it is fate... Why bother worrying about whether it is Tang Dynasty or Song Dynasty? Isn’t a good government one that allows the people to live peacefully?”

Yingchun was momentarily stunned, then nodded: ”Okay, I’ll listen to you, I just don’t know if the young miss will be willing to take in an ugly monster like me...”
