The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1402: Chapter 1402: Arrival at Yong City

”Why have you come? Has something happened at home?” Yang Ruxin immediately frowned. When Gu Qingheng went to the battlefield, he took seven Shadow Guards with him, leaving six by her side. This time when she came to Hangzhou City, she brought Shadow Twelve and Shadow Thirteen with her, leaving four at home. Now, suddenly one has come running here, how could she not be anxious?

”There’s nothing wrong at home.” Zhang Tiankuo hurriedly shook his head, then took out three letters from his bosom and handed them over, ”I have come to deliver letters, the master’s letters.”

”Really?” Yang Ruxin’s eyes lit up, and she quickly took the letters, eagerly skimming through them.

The content of the letters was actually very simple, just to report that he was safe, but still, it filled her with joy.

Nearly two months had passed since they had parted. Although she did not speak of it and usually did not show it, whenever she was alone, she would miss that man profoundly. She knew that with this man in her life, even if she now had the chance to return to the 21st century, she thought she wouldn’t be willing to go back.

”Sis, you should hurry back and reply to the letter from your husband,” Yu Qingge reminded her, ”Other matters can be looked into slowly. Brother-in-law has been anxious for not having received your reply...”

Yang Ruxin nodded. The person responsible for the poisoning was already dead, settling one problem for now. As for the one who tampered with the carriage wheels, there was no evidence yet, so they would have to take their time on that.

She then had Du Man arrange for Shadow Ten to rest at a residence by the West Lake while she herself returned to the Dong Family.

After dinner, Yang Ruxin locked herself in her room, beginning to read the letters while writing a reply to that man.

The Gu Qingheng whom Yang Ruxin was yearning for had just arrived at the outskirts of Yong City, a thousand miles away.

As an official in charge of transporting grain, although he was not going to the frontline to face the enemy for the time being, it was still a task of great responsibility, especially since this time he was escorting two hundred thousand catties of grain.

Yong City was also a border city in the Great Xuan Dynasty. About a two days’ journey to the north were the neighboring cities of Meng City and Jin City. About one and a half days’ travel past Jin City was Governor’s Office City, and north of Governor’s Office City was Governor’s Office Pass, beyond which lay the desert steppes.

However, half a month ago, the commander in charge of Governor’s Office Pass, Ji Lin, surrendered without a fight and handed over Governor’s Office City to the Yuan army. Afterward, the Yuan army advanced southward and quickly occupied Jin City, where the defending General Peng died in combat outside the city gates.

Jin City was about half a day’s journey from Meng City. The Yuan army quickly besieged Meng City, aiming to capture it in one fell swoop. Once two of the three border cities were lost, the remaining one, Yong City, would be insignificant in defense, and after Yong City, the enemy could then march unobstructed towards Beijing, the capital of the Daxuan.

However, in Meng City, the Yuan army met with resolute resistance.

The commander of Meng City, Ye Desheng, was the son-in-law of the late General Peng. Heeding his father-in-law’s teachings, he was determined to defend the gates of the Great Xuan Dynasty to the death.

Although the Yuan army was fierce, they failed several attempts to take the city and eventually could only lay siege to Meng City.

By the time Prince Qi Jingyi, the vanguard leader, arrived, the city had already been without food for two days.

However, by the time Gu Qingheng reached Yong City, Qi Jingyi had already pushed the Yuan army back to Jin City, and the Crown Prince had come with the main army to lead the charge personally.

”Pass the order down, set up camp outside the city,” Gu Qingheng immediately gave the order after receiving news from Qi Jingyi.

”Big brother, aren’t we going into the city?” Gu Yao ran over, ”After all, it is not something that can be done in one or two days for His Highness to retake Jin City.”
