“I’m looking for some white liquor from my second uncle…” Yang Ruxin looked at Feng Caie.

At this time, grain was precious, and that liquor was brewed purely from grain.

The ordinary white liquor cost about forty to fifty wen per jin.

Yang Baichuan enjoyed a drink but only during festivals and holidays.

On regular days, Yang Anshi certainly wouldn’t give him money to buy liquor, not even the old man Yang Peili could have a drink.

“No…”

“Second aunt, since grandparents are here too, may I go search in your room?” Yang Ruxin’s eyebrows slightly raised, “If I find some, you give me a bit; if not, you can scold or beat me, okay?”

“You little girl, daring to enter your uncle and aunt’s room?” Feng Caie was displeased, “How did your mother teach you?

You…”

“Second aunt, when second uncle brought the liquor home, there were people who saw it…” Yang Ruxin smiled faintly, “We haven’t divided the household yet, have you offered any to grandpa?”

Both Yang Peili and Yang Anshi frowned as they looked at Feng Caie.

“Father, mother, don’t listen to Dani’s nonsense…” Feng Caie hastily tried to laugh it off, “That was just a jar of liquor my father gave me last time.

You both weren’t here when I got back, and then I forgot about it in the room.

If it weren’t for Dani mentioning it, I really wouldn’t have remembered…”

“So there is liquor in second aunt’s room?” Yang Ruxin smiled again.

“What do you want with the liquor?” Yang Anshi, though disapproving of her daughter-in-law’s hiding of the liquor, was even more displeased with the main house, “Such an expensive thing, do you think you can casually ask for it?”

“It’s precisely because it’s valuable that it’s useful…” Yang Ruxin glanced at Yang Anshi, “Whether my mother can survive depends on this bowl of liquor…”

“Since there’s liquor, just give Dani some…” Yang Peili said gruffly, then glanced at Yang Anshi, “Hurry up and cook, there’s still work to do in the fields.

It has to be finished by the afternoon…”

Feng Caie felt utterly sick; she understood her in-laws’ temperament all too well.

The family hadn’t been divided yet, and her man was already hiding liquor.

They would probably be ruminating on how to deal with it.

Moreover, she actually did have her own private stash—that if discovered…

It was all that bitch Dani’s fault…

But for now, she had to think about how to appease her mother-in-law…

Yang Ruxin wasn’t looking to take much, so when Feng Caie poured her half a bowl, she took it and left the main house.

After stepping outside, the corners of her mouth curled into a sly smile.

In this family, all the money was controlled by Yang Anshi, a person who valued money more than life and had a strong desire for control.

Even if she favored her second son, it would still have to be under conditions that did not oppose her.

So, if she knew her daughter-in-law was secretly saving private money, it would be a challenge to her authority…

Moreover, in the hearts of both Yang Anshi and the old man, probably the most cherished wasn’t the second branch, but their beloved young daughter.

For her little sister, to avoid having her work, Yang Anshi had promptly sent her off to play at her older sister’s home in the town.

Yang Ruxin glanced at the bowl of liquor in her hand, although this request for liquor couldn’t amount to much, it had at least planted a seed of doubt between the two good mother and daughter-in-law, and when the opportunity arose, she would make sure that seed of doubt blossomed into something more…

After Yang Ruxin left, Yang Anshi did indeed scold Feng Caie and even confiscated the jar of liquor.

Yang Erni frowned as she saw Yang Ruxin actually bringing back liquor, realizing her sister really had changed, and it wasn’t her imagination…
