I'm Trapped in the Block

Chapter 456: Chapter 453: Cannot Transcend

The Little Elf continuously shifted the perspective, while Mo Ling kept shattering the glass mirrors that appeared before him.

The two of them were like an assembly line, breaking down all the barriers.

Dark voids kept appearing, and Mo Ling could feel a constant, escaping draft.

’It’s not my imagination. Something definitely got out.’

The current was too fast for Mo Ling to get a clear sense of it, so he could only assume it was one of the fragment races that had achieved transcendence.

”That’s about it,” the Little Elf reminded him.

”So soon?” Mo Ling was a little surprised.

”Of course. Not all the fragments contain their companions. Many are empty, just substitutes they use to fill the cracks in the building blocks.”

”I see.”

Finally, with their combined effort, Mo Ling shattered the last barrier.

The Little Elf returned the view to normal and went back inside Mo Ling’s projection.

The towering divine shadow slowly lowered its head, looking down at the great tree below.

”Huh? How did it turn into this?” Mo Ling asked in confusion.

”Once all their companions transcended, they could no longer control the building blocks’ movement. They can only keep their bodies in a stable state, and a plant is a fitting form. It keeps them from falling apart,” the Little Elf guessed, sounding uncertain.

”Really?” Mo Ling looked at the great tree, a little skeptical.

The great tree, radiating golden light, was a beautiful sight. The once-colorful building blocks had lost their hues, becoming transparent shards of glass.

Although it was covered in cracks and square imprints, it felt incredibly familiar to Mo Ling.

He had seen this tree before. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ

’It’s the glass tree that was always telling stories.’

’If it really is that tree, then where are the rabbit and the dog?’

...

At that moment, Li Luo stood beneath the tree, gently stroking its trunk.

She still didn’t understand what had happened.

”How did you turn into this?” she asked the great tree, confused.

The great tree seemed to react slowly. A long time passed before it made a humming sound:

”A Young Lady stood beneath a great tree, speaking to it.”

”But the great tree cannot speak, so the Young Lady will never get an answer.”

”The Transcended in the sky quietly watches it all, laughing heartily.”

”Transcendence is transcendence.”

Listening to the great tree’s baffling words, Li Luo was stunned.

”But aren’t you speaking right now?”

”...”

The great tree fell silent for a moment, then began speaking nonsense again.

”The rabbit and the dog want the great tree to tell the Young Lady what is happening, but the great tree is unwilling. The great tree has more important things to do and should not waste energy speaking to the Young Lady.”

”What more important things?” Li Luo seemed to have understood the great tree’s way of speaking and latched onto the key point of its sentence.

”Now, the great tree is the Commander, responsible for spreading its root system throughout the entire canyon. The rabbit, the dog, and the other companions are responsible for rescuing their kin, helping all the trapped companions in the fragments achieve transcendence.”

”Root system?” Li Luo looked sharply at the tree’s roots. The crystal-clear roots had already burrowed deep into the canyon’s crevices, stretching to unknown distances.

”How long will this take?”

She asked in a daze, looking at the endless canyon and the towering mountains of fragments.

”This is only the beginning. Commander Big Tree’s plan will take a very long time to complete. Transcendence has only just begun.”

”One’s own transcendence is not true transcendence. The rabbit and the dog rescued the great tree, so the great tree must also rescue its other companions.”

”Although transcendence is important, a promise is even more important than transcendence.”

”The Young Lady will laugh, the gods will laugh, the Transcended will laugh, and those guys who watch the text will also laugh. The rabbit and the dog are stupid, and the great tree is even stupider than them, but the great tree knows what it must do.”

The sound of vibrating glass echoed in Li Luo’s ears. She didn’t quite understand the meaning of the terms the great tree was using.

’Rabbit? Dog? The guys who watch the text?’

She asked the great tree again, but it no longer answered.

Just as it had said, Commander Big Tree had more important things to do...

Meanwhile, Mo Ling, high in the sky, was so shocked by the great tree’s words that he was speechless.

He understood the great tree’s meaning far better than Li Luo did.

’But even Mo Ling didn’t know who ”the guys who watch the text” were.’

Beneath the golden light, nothing in the Sea of Creation could hide.

Mo Ling’s perspective slowly rose higher, allowing him to overlook the endless, mirrored surface.

The living beings of the simulated world struggled in illusion, trapped in their so-called worlds, unable to transcend...

A balloon rode on the head of Slaughter. This simulated foe completely suppressed Slaughter, the incarnation of enmity itself.

The balloon was the master of enmity, and therefore, the master of Slaughter.

Countless threads of enmity pierced Slaughter’s body, turning it into a complete puppet.

No matter how powerful, enmity cannot transcend itself.

Slaughter became enmity, only to be trapped by enmity, unable to break free.

And the great tree plunged its roots into the canyon of its birth. It came from the simulation, broke free from its cage, and flew to the sky, only to return to the ground, back to the very place it once transcended.

This place was both the beginning and the end.

Transcendence had not ended. It was only just beginning...

The fossilized stones in the time vortex longed for eternity, yet were trapped by it.

They wanted to transcend time, to feel endless ages within a short lifespan. But after truly experiencing those infinite ages, they became trapped by an eternal emptiness.

They transcended time, but could not transcend emptiness.

They turned themselves into dust within the time vortex, vainly attempting to rise above the river of time. But the vortex would suck them into the depths of emptiness, where they would become sludge settling in the riverbed.

The creatures in the Sea of Creation gathered here because of their desire to seek godhood, only to be trapped by that desire and become its slaves.

In the sea of golden light, countless wish-granting races toiled like zombies. They were the masters of the Sea of Creation, and also its components, born from wishes and trapped by them.

The race of gods, sundered by fate, desperately searched for the meaning of their existence.

Some despaired until they withered away, some despaired and fled, and some despaired to the point of wanting to reboot everything.

The gods controlled everything, yet could control nothing at all.

All things wished to transcend, yet none could.

A pang of stillness struck Mo Ling’s heart. He looked up at the sky.

The third layer, the second layer, the first layer...

Above the abyss, Dawn City suppressed this bizarre, colossal void.

The tall Dawn Tower looked down upon all of Dawn City.

Above the Dawn Tower was the dream of the entire city.

Above the dream, there was the Celestial Curtain of text that shrouded everything.

And above the text, there was...

Suddenly, a laugh echoed in Mo Ling’s ears.

”Haha.”
