I'm Trapped in the Block

Chapter 455: Chapter 452: The Promise

”I need to set you down for a bit. Just a moment.”

The Lego Bird was wreathed in golden light, countless golden threads connecting to the colorful blocks of its body. After circling a few times, it landed on a hill of shards.

Li Luo leaped down, landing on the uneven glass shards. The soles of her shoes made a CRUNCHING sound.

”Be careful.”

Disturbed by their movements, shards on the hill of glass began to slide continuously downward.

Li Luo teetered for a moment, struggling to find her balance before finally securing a foothold on the glass-covered hill.

”I can feel it. My companions are transcending. Soon, they will arrive in reality.” The Lego Bird flapped its wings, its blocks rising and falling as streaks of golden light darted between them.

”Congratulations.”

Li Luo’s expression held no trace of joy, only deep concern.

She looked toward the sky, to the point where the golden light converged. Mo Ling’s figure remained motionless, exuding an aura of immense divinity...

...

”How do you plan to grant their wish?”

”That’s a good question. My companions can’t seem to reach the mirrored fissure,” the Little Elf said, sounding troubled. ”I need enough energy to shatter the barrier between reality and simulation.”

”And gathering external energy here might take some time.”

The Little Elf’s physical form wasn’t here, and there was no suitable channel for it to use for transmission within the canyon of shards.

”There’s no liquid here, so I can only permeate the area as water vapor,” the Little Elf explained. ”Once the energy is sufficient, we can attempt to break the barrier.”

”What kind of barrier?” Mo Ling asked, curious.

The Little Elf didn’t answer, instead pulling their perspective back down to the microscopic level.

The two of them once again found themselves inside a glass shard.

”This is the barrier,” the Little Elf said, looking at the smooth, mirrored surface.

”Let me try?”

Mo Ling was powerless to help with most things, but when it came to destruction, he was an expert.

Still, he wasn’t sure if his teleportation ability could break this barrier, or what other consequences it might have.

The Little Elf, however, seemed perfectly confident, saying, ”Go on, give it a try.”

With that confirmation, Mo Ling aimed at the mirrored surface and activated his teleportation.

A small, square hole suddenly appeared on the smooth, mirrored surface.

The hole was pitch-black. A strange current of air suddenly rushed out from the opening and vanished into the darkness beyond.

Mo Ling was about to expand the hole, but the Little Elf stopped him. ”That’s enough. We just need to establish a connection between reality and the simulation.”

But Mo Ling was still curious about the current of air he had seen.

”What was that gust of wind just now?”

”What wind?” Now it was the Little Elf’s turn to be puzzled.

”A sudden gust of wind. It came rushing out of that hole...”

The Little Elf fell silent for a long time after hearing Mo Ling’s description.

”I didn’t feel any wind.”

”Then it must have been my imagination...”

”So, shall we move on to the next barrier?”

”Yes, let’s hurry.”

...

The two of them became completely immersed in their microscopic perspective.

Meanwhile, Mo Ling’s projection outside had become completely still. Divine golden light converged upon him, and his cold, emotionless gaze surveyed the entire canyon.

’The wish seems to be taking effect.’

The blocks on the Lego Bird’s body were shattering, one by one. Tiny, square voids appeared on them, cracks spreading outward from the holes as the blocks’ colors slowly faded.

Its wood-like texture seemed to be gradually fading away as its true, glass nature began to reassert itself...

”Long time no see...”

The Lego Bird stared blankly, as if greeting someone.

”Do you see? That is transcendence. He is the one who saved you.”

The Lego Bird raised its head, gazing obsessively at the projection in the sky. Its blocks were being branded with the ’mark of a god’—square imprints seared one after another into every part of its body.

As the square marks multiplied, the Lego Bird’s speech grew increasingly chaotic.

”Is that transcendence?”

”Is that a god?”

”Has the Outer God returned?”

”Can we follow it again?”

The Lego Bird’s gaze shifted constantly, at times obsessed, at others fanatical. Even as its body, ravaged by the imprints, collapsed to the ground, it continued to stare at the sky.

”I’ve fulfilled my promise. I’ve saved you...”

Its speech functions seemed to have descended into chaos, and it began spouting nonsensical phrases:

”Why did you all leave weak little me outside? I’m really not a qualified Commander. I’m indecisive, I can’t make firm decisions, I barely even understand transcendence... Why didn’t you let Doggy be the Commander and have me assist him? If it were him, he definitely would have saved you all sooner, right?”

”What nonsense is that! Doggy is a Madman! If he were Commander, we’d have been finished long ago!”

”You *are* indecisive! If I were Commander, we would’ve succeeded ages ago! Rabbit is just a coward, afraid of this, afraid of that, only knows how to hide behind the Outer God’s leg.”

”Doggy, stop it. He’s not a real rabbit, that’s just our simulated form.”

”But he *is* as timid as a rabbit—so meek and submissive...”

”That’s still better than you! You’re just a Madman!”

”What did you say?!”

...

The voices coming from the Lego Bird grew cacophonous, a jumble of different conversations echoing incessantly, some even overlapping.

But, while most of it was bickering, there was a strange harmony to it all.

And no matter how much they argued, the Lego Bird’s gaze never left Mo Ling in the sky.

Golden light showered over every block, seeping into every crack and crevice.

The Lego Bird’s tail feathers slowly lengthened. Having lost control, its blocks slowly slid downward, extending toward the ground.

Bathed in golden light, the blocks gradually lost their color, returning to their original glass form.

The golden light seeped through the transparent shards and into its body, dyeing the entire Lego Bird gold.

Its wings drooped powerlessly to the ground, covering its body, which now overflowed with golden light.

Watching from the side, Li Luo observed the Lego Bird’s changing form and had a sudden realization: the assembled blocks had never formed an ordinary bird, but a phoenix.

It was not a Lego Bird, but a Lego Phoenix.

A phoenix that soars through the nine heavens, bathes in fire, and roams free and unrestrained...

And now, beneath the golden light, this phoenix was being reborn through nirvana.

The blocks, overflowing with golden light, slowly transformed. They were using their last vestiges of strength to assemble themselves into their desired shape.

The long tail feathers became roots that plunged into the ground.

Its ever-raised head remained fixed on the sky, becoming the very top of a towering tree.

The feathers on its body turned to leaves, and its sturdy bones slowly unfurled, becoming lush branches.

At the same time, the square imprints continued to slowly brand its body—the very passages through which they escaped their cage, and the symbol of their transcendence.

As the imprints covered its entire form, the phoenix completely transformed into a great tree, its unfurling movements growing ever slower.

’It’s almost over.’

The deep root system plunged into the earth, spreading out between every last shard.

Light converged within the canyon, shining upon the great tree that stood alone, as if forgotten by the world.

All the shards within the canyon seemed to cheer for them, their reflected light twinkling and sparkling brilliantly. They were the refuse of the Sea of Creation, the useless dregs of a simulated world, but they were also the transcendent ones who had broken their shackles to soar beyond the heavens.

This was the place of their birth, and it was also the destination of their transcendence.

”No, this is only the beginning.”
