After signing with AC Milan, I will be the king of football!

Chapter 2262: Chapter 578: Walked In to See Lai Fu Beating Chang Wei

The audience burst into enthusiastic applause.

The camera also focused on Huang Kaiwen.

Lily excitedly said: ”See, you’re someone who can influence the world.”

”I don’t think Gigi would agree with that.”

Huang Kaiwen muttered.

”What are you saying?” Lily asked.

”It’s nothing.”

Huang Kaiwen replied.

Finally, it was time for the main event of the evening.

A few photos appeared on the big screen.

Then came clips of various athletes in their competitions.

Djokovic, who swept the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open.

Bolt, who won two golds at the Daegu World Championships.

Tour de France champion Cadel Evans.

Nowitzki, who had previously chatted with Huang Kaiwen.

And Sebastian Vettel, who won two F1 World Championships with Red Bull.

The editing skills were excellent.

Even if you’re not familiar with the sport, you could see the thrill and rivalry.

This time, the two hosts didn’t keep the suspense and directly turned to Huang Kaiwen, announcing: ”Athlete of the Year — Kevin!!!”

Boom—

The loudest applause of the day erupted at the venue.

As Huang Kaiwen walked to the stage, the big screen replayed his scene of riding a horse into the Allianz.

Jamie Parksman joked, ”Besides being a football champion, Kevin is also an equestrian champion; not everyone can dodge cars on horseback.”

The audience burst into laughter again.

Huang Kaiwen went up and took the trophy from his hand.

He immediately walked to the podium.

After placing the trophy aside, he said: ”Since we’re talking about my trip to Munich, I won’t discuss football today. I received help from some fans on the way who drove me towards Munich. Thanks to Francesco Marazzo, thanks to Nicholas Kostner... thanks to Mr. Paul Stone who flew me there, and to the brave and fair Munich police officer Thomas, in whom I saw a knight’s spirit... Their efforts allowed me to catch the UEFA Champions League final, thank you!”

The cheers from the audience instantly grew louder.

Athletes know how important fan support is in such situations.

Compared to those celebrities, athletes generally value their supporters more.

Lily stood up and kissed Huang Kaiwen, which prompted whistles to resound through the venue.

Jamie Parksman pretended to hold reins with both hands and jokingly rushed onto the stage: ”I wonder what Mr. Collins in front of the TV would think.”

The laughter from the audience was even louder.

Teasing Huang Kaiwen, Lily’s father is an everlasting joke.

After all, the old guy claimed he would use a shotgun against Huang Kaiwen at the sight of him.

Kaka applauded and said with a smile, ”Mr. Collins really is stubborn. If my daughter’s boyfriend were as outstanding as Kevin, I would be delighted.”

Gattuso said sullenly, ”If Kevin had only one girlfriend, I’d be even happier.”

”Don’t overthink it, Kevin won’t be with your daughter.”

Ramos remarked.

He always felt Gabriel would grow up to look like Gattuso. ”You bastard, what did you say?”

Gattuso glared and said, ”Who can say for sure about the future.”

”It sounds like you’re rooting for them to be together?”

Kaka asked.

”At first, I felt a bit uneasy,” Gattuso said, ”But then I thought, if it were someone like Filippo or Cassano, even if they had only one girlfriend, I couldn’t accept it. Compared to that, Kevin is quite a bit better.”

”There’s nothing wrong with that thinking.”

Kaka looked at Inzaghi, who was chatting with someone else, and quipped, ”No one wants a son-in-law who is still so immature at 40.”

”And not very educated either.”

Ramos added.

The event venue had a restaurant; the banquet was held right there.

It was a place for socializing.

Besides meeting different athletes, there were sponsors and some agents.

Especially the agents, who would rack their brains to get into these events.

Sign an athlete with career value, and they could be set for life.

They don’t even need to have great results.

Like Sharapova.

Her results aren’t the best, but her commercial value is extremely high.

The banquet hadn’t gone on for long before Huang Kaiwen pulled Lily away to slip out.

If they stayed, their schedule would be delayed again.

”If we go this late, Mr. Collins won’t already be asleep, will he?”

Huang Kaiwen asked.

”Don’t worry, he won’t be.”

Lily assured.

”Then should we just show up without bringing any gifts?”

Huang Kaiwen asked.

”It’s fine.”

Lily said carelessly.

Her dad had recently divorced again anyway.

Being by himself, it wouldn’t matter much.

Huang Kaiwen checked his pocket.

Luckily, he always carries emergency gifts when going out.

The two of them got out of a taxi nearby and walked the rest of the way.

Even before entering the yard, Huang Kaiwen heard Phil Collins shout: ”If Kevin shows up in front of me, I’ll shove my shotgun into his mouth and tell him not to think he can do whatever he wants just because he’s famous.”

Lily immediately covered her mouth with a giggle.

Huang Kaiwen shrugged somewhat awkwardly.

Another voice said, ”Phil. Phil, Phil, Phil... You say that without seeing Kevin, but you’ll never actually do it. No one in this world would hurt Kevin; he’s a good guy, hard to provoke anger.”

Huang Kaiwen wanted to listen a little more, but Lily already opened the backyard door.

The two people chatting widened their eyes in surprise.

Especially Phil Collins, who looked embarrassed.

He immediately stood up and yelled, ”You actually dared to come here, where’s my shotgun?”
