After signing with AC Milan, I will be the king of football!

Chapter 2261: Chapter 578: Entering and Seeing Lai Fu Beating Chang Wei

Replacing someone with a poor mental state might lead to mental illness.

However, this one looks fine.

The ceremony starts with the Award for Best Female Athlete of the Year.

This honor was won by the Kenyan athlete Vivian Cheruiyot.

During the previous World Championships, she won gold in both the 5000m and 10000m events.

Her strength is undeniable.

Next up is the Laureus Best Comeback Award, and Huang Kaiwen suddenly feels a bit nervous.

He’s not nervous about his own awards, but this category includes Liu Xiang.

Also there is Abidal, who battled liver cancer.

British golfer Clark.

Spanish golfer Sergio Garcia.

Jamie Parksman opens the envelope and announces: ”Clark.”

Huang Kaiwen waves his hand with a bit of regret.

Golf indeed has quite an audience in Europe and America, whereas the 110m hurdles don’t garner as much attention.

The Laureus Award mainly focuses on influence in Europe and America.

If it were based on personal feelings, Huang Kaiwen believes Liu Xiang should win.

Unfortunately, his opinion doesn’t count.

The Award for Best Disabled Athlete of the Year goes to South Africa’s Oscar Pistorius.

As soon as this award ends, Adele takes the stage.

Her voice is slightly husky, deep, with metallic penetration.

As if she carries surround sound within her.

More importantly, besides technique, her songs are filled with emotion and strength.

The album ”stronger” was leaked shortly after being recorded and spread online.

Adele says she’s not bothered, as long as the fans like it.

This statement made her even more popular.

Although ”stronger” speaks about emotions, the song fits perfectly in this setting.

As Huang Kaiwen is enjoying the music, a staff member bends over and says: ”Kevin, you’re up next to present an award.”

”Oh, okay.”

Huang Kaiwen replies.

He had forgotten about it.

After enjoying Adele’s performance backstage, Huang Kaiwen smiles and walks onto the stage.

His appearance is met with a lot of applause and whistles.

Huang Kaiwen smiles, spreads his hands, and waits until the noise dies down before speaking: ”I saw in the newspapers discussing the awards I’ve won. Some fans suggested that I should only present awards, so they wouldn’t have to give me any more. It turns out they really did it.”

The audience bursts into laughter.

People who are good at self-deprecation are always more well-liked.

”Now, I’m presenting the Lifetime Achievement Award. Although I’m certain I will receive this award in the future, today’s protagonist is not me...”

Huang Kaiwen glances down at the card inside the envelope and exclaims: ”It’s a player I like very much, a legend of English football and Manchester United. He overcame many hardships and successfully led Manchester United to lift the Champions League Trophy. Let’s welcome Sir Bobby Charlton!”

Finally, the audience erupts in enthusiastic applause.

Huang Kaiwen laughs and claps along.

Sir Bobby slowly walks over and takes the trophy from Huang Kaiwen’s hand.

He sets the trophy aside and says: ”I know I’ve received a lot, but each day I think it might originally belong to others. Some consider me perfectly dull, with few personal opinions. Because I know I’m representing many who continue to live, I can’t always be self-centered. Every day, every hour, every second of my life is lived in Munich.”

Sir Bobby Charlton wipes his tears, turns to embrace Huang Kaiwen, and together they walk backstage.

Huang Kaiwen can deeply understand Sir Charlton’s thoughts.

Survivors of such disasters find it hard to leave everything behind.

Living on itself is both a responsibility and a torment.

Perhaps due to the somber topic prior,

The subsequent awards for extreme sports athletes aren’t very enthusiastic.

German sailor Philip Köster receives the award; he’s the PWA World Windsurfing Champion.

The recipient of the Sports for Good Award is Kaka’s idol, Lai Yi.

Seeing his idol, Kaka is unusually emotional and reacts excitedly.

Huang Kaiwen feels that the Laureus Awards contain more football elements each time.

Some people always say athletes from other sports earn more money.

Commercial development cannot be discussed separately from influence, as sports popular in the United States and some developed countries can make big money without leaving their borders.

But apart from football, no other sport has athletes whose mere presence, like Pele’s, can cause warlords in Africa to cease fighting temporarily.

Next is finally the Award for Team of the Year.

Among the nominees are Milan and Barca soccer teams.

Alongside are the Dallas Mavericks, who won their first NBA Championship, the world’s top-ranked England National Cricket Team, the New Zealand Rugby Team, and the F1 Red Bull Racing Team, a multiple world champion.

Seeing Capello come up to present the award, Huang Kaiwen smiles.

Master Ka’s presence guarantees it won’t be given to other teams.

Indeed.

Capello glances down and swiftly announces: ”Team of the Year, AC Milan!”

A cheer erupts among the Milan players.

Huang Kaiwen smiles while clapping, declining the invitation to go on stage.

Nesta and Buffon go up to the stage together.

But Nesta remains silent, leaving the chance to Buffon.

Buffon bends down and adjusts the microphone before speaking: ”Some think we are the best, but there’s a condition: Milan is only the best with Kevin. Kevin is the greatest football star in history, his skills and character deeply inspire every fan. Children worldwide idolize him. Kevin isn’t just playing for himself; he’s playing for the world. I can’t imagine how many kids would feel disappointed if Kevin retired. I hope that day never comes, next year, the year after, forever, Kevin can lead us to win all championships!!!”
