Chapter 1958: Chapter 515: The Great Escape to Victory

”Do we want to cut it directly?”

Ramos asked.

Considering that there might be a lock, Albert prepared a lot of things for them.

Like the thermite used in movies to open bank vaults.

And magnesium-oxygen cutting tools, etc.

”Try not to, if it’s indeed the control room inside, it might damage some things.”

Huang Kaiwen thought for a moment and said.

”Then what do we do?”

Kaka asked.

”Why not let Filippo try to see if he can open it?”

Huang Kaiwen laughed and said, ”Lucky Filippo.”

Inzaghi tried but couldn’t open the door.

Huang Kaiwen felt around the door for a long time and finally found a small hidden door in the upper left corner.

After pushing it open, there was still a keypad.

Without even thinking, he continued to input that phrase.

Click—

The door opened!

Huang Kaiwen shook his head with a smile.

Rommel wasn’t loyal to the mustache.

But he was loyal to his country.

Oh, XXX that phrase, it’s akin to his ideals for the country.

”What is this place?”

Not seeing any treasure, only some pipes, made Inzaghi very disappointed.

”Launch chamber.”

Huang Kaiwen walked towards the table.

He saw a copy of the ”Treaty of Versailles” and Weimar Government currency on the table.

Realized that the person who left these things was Rommel, and perhaps these were the most important things to him.

The ”Treaty of Versailles” stipulated German reparations equivalent to 18,000 tons of gold, while the combined gold reserves of the world’s five strongest countries nowadays barely reach that amount.

Back then, some knew that this treaty was not a peace agreement.

Especially since the UK and the United States didn’t want the Frenchman to get too many benefits.

The Junker nobles’ Weimar Government later printed money crazily to default.

Devaluation doesn’t matter, it’s all about speed.

To see if they can exchange money for foreign currency faster than it devalues, eventually they even stopped printing and just stamped the printed money to inflate it by ten thousand times, like some internet rebate.

So back then, German bread cost 500,000 Marks or even 1 trillion Marks, and it wasn’t just the Jewish people’s problem, the Junker nobles also had a big share of the blame.

The Germans weren’t paying reparations, nor were they compensating with minerals.

Eventually, the French got fed up and occupied the Ruhr Area with their allies.

It was the UK and the United States together who mediated and helped Germany to recover economically, enabling them to pay back, plus the dissolution of Audley protected Germany’s geopolitical security, leading to many subsequent events.

That Rommel would collect these two things so solemnly showed he clearly understood why the country ended up like that.

Not finding Rommel’s manuscripts anymore, Huang Kaiwen said, ”Let’s go, maybe there are other treasures waiting for us.”

”Locked like this without any treasure, could there be anything elsewhere?”

Inzaghi said weakly.

Today he fell from such a high place.

On the way out, Huang Kaiwen introduced the submarine’s internal structure to everyone.

Not Type-II but Type-VII, which was quite a challenge for them.

”Is the space a bit small?”

Ramos suddenly said.

”Of course, everyone knows tank soldiers are required to be not tall, but if you study carefully, you’ll find submarine crew requirements are even shorter.”

Huang Kaiwen explained.

The captain’s office was also quite cramped, with no records inside.

”Be careful, Filippo.”

Kaka reminded, don’t walk too fast and hurt yourself.

”What would happen? Would I turn into an alien, or some extraterrestrial creature, controlled by Nazis to cause damage?”

Inzaghi said indifferently.

When he pushed open the lounge door, Kaka, who was talking to him, was stunned.

As soon as Inzaghi returned, and the flashlight was shone over, his mouth opened wide.

The beds in the entire lounge were dismantled, with gold bars, art pieces, and various sacks placed inside.

Apparently, the sacks wouldn’t be holding corpses or anything like that.

”Guys, we’ve struck it rich!!!”

Inzaghi shouted excitedly and rushed directly there.

Kaka and the others also ran over.

Huang Kaiwen didn’t stop and walked all the way to the control room, turning on the lighting equipment.

”The sacks are full of gold and gems, Kevin!”

”We’ve also found quite a few paintings.”

Huang Kaiwen returned to the lounge and observed the quantity of gold bars.

”Have you weighed the gold bars?”

Huang Kaiwen asked.

”Around 6.612 kilograms.”

Ramos said, ”The sack’s gold hasn’t been weighed specifically, but I counted that there should be 1242 bars.”

”Not much.”

Approximately eight tons or so.

Before coming here, I specifically checked and gold was roughly 27.65 Euros per gram, so eight tons comes out to around over 200 million Euros.

For Huang Kaiwen, not to mention Kaka and these stars, this isn’t exactly a fortune.

The sacks inside won’t contain more gold than outside, the total value of the gold on the ship is just over 300 million Euros.

Much less than the billions of Euros Huang Kaiwen anticipated, he felt somewhat disappointed.

”Kevin!!!”

Kaka exclaimed.

Huang Kaiwen rushed over.

Turns out there was another hidden door inside the lounge, with four large wooden boxes inside.

Kaka looked at Huang Kaiwen and said, ”I suspect what’s inside are paintings.”

”We’ll know when we look.”

Huang Kaiwen raised his leg for support and carefully pulled the box placed above down.

Ramos, who followed, immediately handed over a crowbar, which Huang Kaiwen inserted with force and quickly opened the sealed wooden board.

Seeing the waterproof cloth wrapped it, Huang Kaiwen could almost be certain it was paintings.

Upon opening, however, it wasn’t.

Instead, it was stack after stack of A4-sized paper.
