Chapter 916: Chapter 916 Temple

Lin Dong and Qiao Bing left the Golf Garden, and Qiao Bing needed to head for the hospital.

There was something she had to attend to over there.

Although she had offended her instructor Peng Xin, she still had to continue with her work.

As for Lin Dong, he first dropped her off at the hospital,

then he made his way to ’Yunling Temple’ to deal with the ’evil person’ within the temple.

Earlier, when he was at the hospital treating the Gambling King’s daughter-in-law, Su Yuqi, he learned of someone in Yunling Temple using the ’Yin Witch’s Curse’.

This Yin Witch’s Curse was extremely malevolent, using the lives of innocent women to cultivate, and Lin Dong, having encountered it, naturally wouldn’t stand by and do nothing.

He was no saint, not one to save everyone he encountered, but when faced with such unforgivably evil individuals, Lin Dong wouldn’t let them off.

Lin Dong headed towards Yunling Temple.

Located several kilometers from the city center, although it was far from the bustling city and not very large, the number of people visiting the temple was quite substantial.

Moreover, most of those who came drove luxury cars.

Many of them were rich businesspeople.

As Lin Dong approached Yunling Temple and tried to enter, he was stopped at the door.

”This is a sacred place of Buddhism; random people are not allowed to enter,” two novice monks stopped Lin Dong and spoke to him in this manner.

Lin Dong frowned slightly and, pointing to those entering, said, ”How come they can enter?”

”Those are benefactors who have donated to the threshold. Of course they can enter. If you wish to enter, you should donate like they did,” one of the novice monks said, pointing to a merit box next to them.

Next to the merit box were several monks guarding it.

Upon hearing this, Lin Dong fell into a moment of silence.

He reflected sadly on the decline of social morals. In today’s society, faith had become a tool for others to amass wealth.

Whether it was temples or Taoist temples, both had become tools for making money, no different from tourist attractions, with a full commercial flavor.

He wondered what the Buddha Lord and the Bodhisattvas would think, knowing these monks were collecting money in their name in the mortal world.

To avoid alerting them, Lin Dong could only walk up to the merit box to donate the so-called threshold fee.

”Master, I didn’t bring any cash. Is there any way to make an exception and let me directly enter?” a virtuous woman, seeking Buddha’s blessings, said to a monk beside the merit box.

The monk was looking down at his phone. Hearing her, he looked up and said,

”It doesn’t matter if you didn’t bring cash. There’s a QR code that you can scan to donate.”

Hearing this, the woman was slightly taken aback. She muttered,

”If I scan the code to donate the threshold fee, will the Bodhisattva receive my sincerity?”

Seeing her murmuring, the monk impatiently remarked, ”Do you wish to enter the temple to seek Buddha or not? If not, please step away and don’t block the people behind.”

”I’ll enter, I’ll enter,” the woman hastily responded, her beloved was sick, and she had come to seek health for him.

She took out her phone, preparing to scan the code, and before doing so, asked, ”How much should I donate, Master?”

”It’s up to your sincerity. The more you donate, the greater the sincerity, and the Buddha Lord is more likely to bless you,” said the monk. ”Of course, according to the rules of Buddhism, the minimum donation starts at five coins. In current RMB, that would be twenty-five hundred yuan.”

”Ah, that’s so expensive...” the woman was surprised. She hadn’t expected it would cost twenty-five hundred yuan just to enter a temple.

”Are you entering or not?” the monk asked with impatience.

The woman, though reluctant, finally scanned the QR code and paid twenty-five hundred yuan.

After she donated the threshold fee, the monk impatiently gave her a card, which allowed her to enter the temple.

The people behind her also stepped forward to donate their threshold fees.

Some tycoons donated tens of thousands of yuan, even more. The monks treated them with great kindness and warmth.

They addressed them as very kind people and had someone specially escort them inside.

Lin Dong watched for a while and shook his head; these monks were indeed powerful forces.

Nowadays, it’s hard to encounter a true enlightened monk. All over the place are a bunch of ’businessmen’ who have shaved their heads; these people truly tarnish the reputation of Buddhism and do not deserve to be called Buddhist Practitioners.

Lin Dong had great respect for true enlightened monks, but for these opportunistic ’businessman monks,’ he held no good feeling.

However, not wanting to startle them, Lin Dong did not make a scene.

Otherwise, he probably would have slapped them all away with a single swing.

”Virtuous man, what business brings you here?” It was now Lin Dong’s turn to ’donate the threshold fee,’ and a monk asked him.

Lin Dong replied, ”I’ve heard that there is a master in your temple, known as ’Master Falin,’ who is very effective in granting wishes regarding children, marriage, and wealth. I’ve come to seek his help in finding marriage fortune!”

”You’re seeking Master Falin?” The monk’s face changed slightly, and then he shook his head, saying, ”Master Falin only receives female believers, not male believers.”

”Why does he only receive female believers?” Lin Dong asked, his voice growing stern.

The monk replied, ”Because Master Falin has inherited the mantle of a female Bodhisattva. The female Bodhisattva only receives female believers.”

”Is that so?” Lin Dong let out a cold laugh inwardly, knowing full well the reason.

Master Falin was the very ’Witch Sect evil person’ he was looking for. He cultivated the ’Yin Witch’s Curse,’ requiring women born on July 15th for the curse, aiding his cultivation.

This was the real reason why he only received female believers.

”But I really want to see him to seek marriage fortune. Master, could you make an exception for me?” Lin Dong asked the monk in front of him again.

The monk pulled Lin Dong aside and smiled subtly, saying, ”An exception could be made...”

At this point, he gestured with his fingers, a silent message that Lin Dong understood well.

It was about money!

Lin Dong laughingly said, ”Master, I am willing to donate fifty thousand yuan as the threshold fee, hoping the master would be willing to take me there.”

”Ha-ha, well said. Although Master Falin usually doesn’t see male believers, I could tell at first glance that you have a connection with the Buddha. I’ll make an exception this time and take you to Master Falin,” he responded.

”Of course, I’m only responsible for bringing you in front of Master Falin. Whether Master Falin will help you seek Buddha’s grace, that will depend on your own fortune afterward.”
