Urban Divine Doctor Descends the Mountain

Chapter 808: Chapter 808 Debate Between Chinese and Western Medicine

Killed the Wu Family’s Old Ancestor?

Liu Chuanqi dared not even contemplate the thought.

Although he deemed Lin Dong formidable, no matter how strong, it seemed impossible for him to be a match for the Wu Family’s Old Ancestor.

That was a bizarre old creature who had lived for over two hundred years and whose strength had reached the Earth Realm so long ago that it was even difficult to fathom.

Over the years, no one had ever dared to provoke him.

Although Chen Beiming was powerful, he was nothing compares to the Wu Family’s Old Ancestor, not even worth a single finger.

For the Old Ancestor of the Wu Family to kill an existence like Chen Beiming would be as simple as crushing an ant to death.

”Lin Dong, shouldn’t we leave Demon City as soon as possible? You can go somewhere secluded to cultivate in peace. After a dozen years or so, when you’re strong enough, you can come back,” Liu Chuanqi suggested.

Lin Dong gave a faint smile and shook his head.

How could he possibly do that?

His cultivation required him to be in the secular world, where he could find various Heavenly and Earthly treasures, or increase his strength rapidly through the use of the Devouring Technique to absorb others’ Inner Qi.

If he did as Liu Chuanqi suggested, retreating to a hidden place to cultivate, solely relying on absorbing Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi, even a dozen years would bring little progress to his strength.

Moreover, Lin Dong didn’t fear the Wu Family’s Old Ancestor at all, so why should he live in seclusion just because of him?

”Uncle Liu, such a minor figure as the Wu Family’s Old Ancestor doesn’t qualify to make me live in hiding,” Lin Dong said.

”Speaking of which, Uncle Liu, it just occurred to me that if you had a certain kind of Dan medicine, it could regenerate your severed arm.”

Hearing this, Li Qingcheng, who was nearby, asked excitedly, ”Lin Dong, what kind of Dan medicine is it?”

Although Liu Chuanqi verbally expressed that he didn’t mind having lost an arm, the prospect of a cure from Lin Dong could not help but fill him with anticipation, and he eagerly looked toward Lin Dong.

After all, he was a martial artist, and no one would want to lose the possibility of advancing further.

Lin Dong explained, ”That Dan medicine is called the Nine Rebirth Pill. I’ve read about it in one of my master’s ancient books, which said that taking that pill could regenerate severed limbs.”

Li Qingcheng hurriedly asked, ”Lin Dong, can you concoct it?”

Lin Dong shook his head, ”Without the prescription, I can’t concoct it.”

The prescriptions were left behind from ancient times and were rarely found. Only within some traditional medical families with inheritance would they exist.

Or, with luck, one could find them in some ancient ruins.

Just like the ’Supplementary Yuan Pill’ prescription from the home of the Medicine King, Zhuge Qingxuan, those were encountered by chance and could not be sought after.

Not everyone is as altruistic as the elderly Zhuge Qingxuan, willing to donate a family’s heritage prescription.

Suddenly, Ah Lang, who was standing by their side, exclaimed in surprise, ”Big brother, that’s quite a coincidence. I remember the Hua Family mentioned the Nine Rebirth Pill as the prescription they were willing to give!”

Hearing this, Lin Dong turned to look at Ah Lang.

Earlier on, Lin Dong and Ah Lang had gone to the Hua Family to treat an illness.

Hua Rong from the Hua Family had issued a reward, stating that if anyone could cure his daughter Hua Yu’s illness, they would offer a Heavenly and Earthly treasure along with a prescription.

At that time, Lin Dong had not inquired about the specific prescription with Ah Lang.

Unexpectedly, it turned out to be the very Nine Rebirth Pill they were discussing now!

While the Nine Rebirth Pill might not compare with many other Dan medicines that aid in cultivation or possess as heaven-defying effects as the Supplementary Yuan Pill, which can extend one’s lifespan.

It still has the miraculous ability to regenerate limbs.

That was indeed extraordinary.

However, the current problem was that the Hua Family didn’t believe in him and wouldn’t allow him to treat the illness, which left Lin Dong feeling rather helpless.

...

At that moment at the Hua Residence.

At the insistence of Lady Hua, the Western medicine experts she had invited began electroshock therapy on Hua Yu.

This was essentially treating her as if she had a psychiatric disorder!

”Pop, pop, pop～～～”

When Hua Yu became agitated and started screaming, the Western Medicine Experts resorted to using the electroshock device on her.

Initially, it seemed to have some effect.

After each electroshock treatment, Hua Yu’s frenzied behavior appeared to improve; she became calm.

Seeing this, Lady Hua joyfully said to her husband, Hua Rong, ”Dear, look. I told you we should have sought out a Western Doctor. If we had sought a Western Doctor earlier, maybe our daughter would already be cured by now.”

The two of them, with Hua Rong hailing from the ancient medical family of Dragon Country and steeped in the Traditional Chinese Medical Arts, had a reputation as a famous doctor within the Chinese Medicine World.

He was rightfully regarded as a Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Lady Hua, on the other hand, came from a family with three generations of Western Medicine Experts.

Her grandfather was the director of a well-known hospital from earlier times, her father inherited the mantle, also serving as director at a big hospital in Demon City.

She too, influenced by her family’s legacy, chose to pursue medicine. She was outstanding in her own right, having attended Dragon Country’s Best Medical College for her undergraduate studies and then going overseas for her graduate studies and doctorate.

The instructors she followed were world-famous Western Medicine Experts.

After returning to her country, she aligned the powerful forces by marrying Hua Rong.

With many years of medical practice, she had achieved great success. In Demon City’s First Hospital, she served as the Vice President, and she also held an important position in the Western Medicine Association of Demon City.

However, over the years, despite being husband and wife, they had continuous disputes.

These disputes revolved around the debate between Western and Chinese medicine.

Every time they treated patients, she advocated for Western medicine.

Hua Rong, on the other hand, advocated for Chinese medicine.

Just like their daughter’s strange illness this time, Hua Rong argued for Traditional Chinese Medicine, but Lady Hua advocated for Western Medicine.

Previously, Hua Rong had been the more dominant, consistently treating Hua Yu with Traditional Chinese Medicine.

But the results were unsatisfactory, failing to cure her.

Thus, Lady Hua firmly requested Western Medical treatment, leading to the current situation.

Hua Rong, seeing that electroshock therapy seemed to really work on his daughter’s sickness, couldn’t help but mutter, ”Could Western medicine truly be superior to Chinese medicine?”

”Isn’t that an obvious conclusion? The sickness that you Chinese doctors can’t cure, our Western medicine can. From now on, don’t bring up your Traditional Chinese Medicine theories in front of me. They are all just heresy,” Lady Hua huffed.

Hua Rong’s face reddened, feeling deeply unhappy inside.

The thousands of years of heritage from his clan was being denied by his own wife, and he couldn’t refute it.

Because as it appeared now, the Western medicine was indeed more effective for his daughter’s symptoms.

But just at this moment, suddenly, a shocking turn of events occurred.

The previously ’calmed’ Hua Yu, who had seemed stable after the electroshock therapy, suddenly started convulsing as if she had contracted rabies...
