Chapter 698: Chapter 698: Visiting the Xia Family

Hearing Lin Dong’s words, the King of Jiangbei pondered for a moment before saying,

”I do indeed know about this.”

”Recently, many people have their hands on a good number of rare treasures and Heavenly and Earthly treasures, because the Chen family is holding their annual meeting. Many people want to please the Chen family, so they’ve been gathering these items from all over to give as gifts.”

”As far as I know, the Xia family, one of the Four Great Clans, has collected a Heavenly Material.”

”Beyond that, the Ximen Clan, another of the Four Great Clans, has also acquired a Heavenly Material!”

”That’s all I know for now, just these two families. The rest are preparing gifts that are rare treasures...”

Upon hearing this, Lin Dong’s pupils slightly contracted.

He murmured to himself, ”The Four Great families in Jiangbei... Xia family, Ximen family...”

There are Four Great Clans in Jiangbei, namely the Xia family, Ximen family, Ouyang family, and the Shangguan family.

These Four Great Clans all participated in the annihilation of the Chen family back in the day. Together with Chen Beiming, they acted as the executioners for the Lin family from the Capital City, slaughtering the Chen family during Lin Dong’s grandfather’s time.

Although they didn’t personally kill his grandfather, uncle, or aunt, they were guilty of complicity. Moreover, they slaughtered some of the Chen family’s relatives and side branches.

In addition, they divided up some of the former Chen family’s assets.

For instance, the Xia family took over the real estate sector’s properties the Chen family had in Jiangbei.

As for the Ximen family, they took over the entertainment industry in Jiangbei.

Now, one of them has become the leader of Jiangbei’s real estate industry, and the other has become the leader in the entertainment sector, all thanks to their share of the spoils taken from Lin Dong’s grandfather’s period in the Chen family.

”Before the Chen family’s annual meeting, it’s time to collect some interest in advance. Let those Sect Masters invited by the Chen family cool down, and ponder the repercussions that will come with allying with the Chen family!”

Lin Dong murmured.

Soon after, the King of Jiangbei also left with his son.

Not long after they departed, the Chen Clan of Jiangbei sent a Grandmaster to deliver an invitation to the Jiangbei War Department.

But the King of Jiangbei’s response was to directly tear up the invitation in front of the delivering Grandmaster from the Chen family.

The Grandmaster of the Chen family, surprised, said, ”King of Jiangbei, what do you mean by this?”

”It means, I refuse to ally with your Chen family. Nor will I help your Chen family against Master Lin of Nanjing!”

”What?” Hearing this, the Grandmaster from the Chen Clan of Jiangbei expressed his bewilderment, ”King of Jiangbei, why? Your son has had an arm severed by that Master Lin, don’t you want revenge?”

”Or are you saying, the mighty King of Jiangbei is actually afraid of Master Lin of Nanjing? With our Chen family on your side, what need is there to fear Master Lin? Even if he really possesses the strength of an Earth Realm martial artist, as the rumors say, he would still struggle against the numerous Wushu Experts summoned by our Chen Clan of Jiangbei...”

”Roll!” the King of Jiangbei rebuked sharply, ”What significance does your Chen Clan of Jiangbei hold? Why should I, the King of Jiangbei, take orders from you?”

”Furthermore, your Chen Clan of Jiangbei cannot be compared to Master Lin.”

”You, you...” The Grandmaster of the Chen family, pointing at the King of Jiangbei, also angrily said, ”How dare you, King of Jiangbei, you truly believe you are the king of this region? The true rulers of Jiangbei are the Chen family!”

”If our family head emerges from seclusion, you, King of Jiangbei, would be less than an ant in his presence... Ah...”

Before he could finish, the King of Jiangbei acted swiftly, sending him flying with a palm strike.

”If you won’t roll, I’ll make you roll!”

”Before you roll, let me offer your Chen family a piece of advice. It would be best to kneel and repent before Master Chen. That way, your Chen family might be able to leave whole corpses behind. Otherwise, prepare for your entire clan’s annihilation!”

The Grandmaster of the Chen family looked at the King of Jiangbei in disbelief.

He crawled up from the ground, spitting out a mouthful of fresh blood, and shouted loudly, ”Very well, King of Jiangbei, your days are numbered. Just wait and see, you will answer to the Chen family.”

After saying so, he hurriedly left.

Very soon, the two major events of today quickly spread throughout all of Jiangbei.

These news reached the ears of those Sect Masters invited by the Chen family.

The first piece of news was that the King of Jiangbei had sought out Master Lin. However, it was not to seek revenge, but rather to apologize like Lian Po.

The second piece of news was that the King of Jiangbei tore up the Chen family’s annual meeting invitation and also attacked the rude Grandmaster of the Chen family. He also warned the Chattel of the Chen family to kneel and repent before Master Lin.

Upon the release of these two pieces of news, there was shock among everyone.

Countless people discussed.

”Why would the King of Jiangbei do this? Not seeking revenge is one thing, but to actually go and apologize to Master Lin of Nanjing!”

”The mighty King of Jiangbei has lost all face for us martial artists of Jiangbei.”

”Although the strength of Master Lin of Nanjing is terrifying, surely it doesn’t warrant this?”

”...”

As the most loyal supporters of the Chen Clan of Jiangbei, the Four Great families in Jiangbei also stepped forward to criticize the King of Jiangbei.

Among them, Xia Jiuling of the Xia family pointedly scolded him in public by name, saying:

”Murong Qingyun, you old fogey, timid as a mouse. An insignificant ’master’ from Nanjing has frightened you out of your wits?”

”I heard that Master Lin is barely over twenty, even younger than your son. An immature brat got you to kneel and apologize; you’ve truly lost the face of all of us in Jiangbei.”

”He severed your son’s arm, yet you have no thoughts of revenge, instead, you kneel and beg for mercy. I, Xia Jiuling, despise you!”

”My own son was likewise wronged by that Master Lin and was killed by him. Let it be known that I will avenge my son. I will take the head of that so-called ’master’ Lin to commemorate my son.”

After these words were uttered, they inspired a wave of praise within the Martial Arts World of Jiangbei.

Everyone thought that Xia Jiuling had boosted the momentum of the Jiangbei martial artists.

However, just a few hours after he made these remarks, news that Master Lin of Nanjing had paid a visit to the Xia family spread.
