Apocalyptic Flood: Sexy Beauty Neighbor's Midnight Plea for Food

Chapter 1578: Chapter 911: Conference Discussion

“How long ago did that happen?”

Sitting not far away, Shi Haizhu couldn’t help but ask, his face full of anger.

Qu Jin smiled wryly: “A year ago.”

A year ago, the Japanese had already researched the so-called radiation bomb.

Shi Haizhu recalled that at that time, Yangshan had just started confronting military and other forces.

Indeed, back then, the military had already developed all sorts of powerful rune weapons.

Japan, although an island nation, is still a country, surely with military forces.

It would be reasonable for them to quickly use superpowers to develop weapons.

Shi Haizhu couldn’t help but say: “If the Japanese can develop various superpower weapons, don’t you have an army in Guangdong Province? Haven’t they developed weapons?”

Qu Jin said helplessly, “The flood came too quickly, Guangdong Province’s low terrain was soon submerged.”

“As for whether the military has developed weapons, I don’t know, but even if they researched something, it probably couldn’t stop the Japanese radiation bomb.”

“That kind of radiation bomb targets everyone. Once exposed to radiation, even if one doesn’t die, they’ll mutate into monsters.”

“No matter how strong the military is, without targeted weapons, it’s very difficult to withstand.”

Yang Shenmin couldn’t help but ask: “What is a radiation bomb?”

Li Hanzhong and others in the research department also looked over.

They were quite concerned about this question because if a conflict with the Japanese occurs, the radiation bomb would surely be faced.

The research department must understand this thing in advance.

Of course, Li Qinghua had already submitted information to the research department.

Li Hanzhong knew some things about the radiation bomb but still wanted to hear the victims’ descriptions.

Qu Jin showed a hint of fear on his face: “As the name implies, a radiation bomb is a bomb that generates powerful radiation.”

“This radiation specifically targets the mixed genes inside superpower users.”

“Once it explodes, it instantly triggers rapid mutation and evolution of the mixed genes inside superpower users, directly causing the collapse of the genetic chain!”

“You all should have experienced awakening superpowers, right? It’s that kind of feeling.”

“Affected by radiation, mixed genes mutate wildly, superpower users seem to have failed to awaken, controlled by mixed genes, transforming into mutant monsters that only act according to genetic instincts.”

Li Hanzhong frowned and said, “Sounds a bit like a gene mutation.”

Yang Shenmin and Jiang Ziyin also slightly nodded.

Jiang Ziyin said, “And it should still be a type of directed mutation, otherwise it doesn’t make sense that only mixed genes are affected.”

“Directed mutation research has long existed in genetics, especially in agriculture.”

“This technology in biology is also called gene targeting or site-specific mutation. It can artificially design and precisely change specific DNA sequences in an organism’s genome.”

“Opposite to directed mutation is naturally occurring traditional mutation methods.”

“However, in theory, mutations caused by radiation should be random mutations, not directed mutations.”

Yang Shenmin, as a traditional medicine practitioner, has limited knowledge of biology.

However, he understands some basic concepts.

At the moment, he asked, “Directed mutation technology requires gene editing techniques, right? This high-precision technology demands extremely high laboratory requirements; even here, we can’t achieve it. Do the Japanese have such conditions?”

Jiang Ziyin said, “Don’t forget, the Japanese were already very advanced in biomedical science before the apocalypse.”

“Their medical technology in this area is indeed better than domestic ones, with many top laboratories.”

“Perhaps they preserved such laboratories?”

The two began speculating in discussions.

However, the others listened with puzzled looks, gene targeting, gene editing.

It sounds too high-end, something ordinary people can’t easily reach.

Even Li Hanzhong was bewildered.

As the saying goes, different fields are like separate mountains. He’s an expert in shipbuilding but isn’t as knowledgeable in medicine compared to Yang Shenmin’s companion Tang Ying.

And Jiang Ziyin, as a virus expert, naturally has better insights in modern medicine than Yang Shenmin.

Liang Yuan coughed, interrupting the two people’s discussion.

“Cough cough, Dr. Yang, Dr. Jiang, you can discuss these professional matters later. Let’s have Island Master Qu continue.”

Yang Shenmin looked apologetically at Liang Yuan, then said to Qu Jin, “Sorry, please go on.”

Qu Jin smiled wryly, “There’s not much else to say. The Japanese swept through the entire Guangdong Province using radiation bombs.”

“The floating islands in Guangdong had nowhere to escape, only fleeing north.”

“We fled to Min Province, hoping to rest and discuss counterattacks.”

“But the Japanese didn’t give us such chances, relentlessly pursuing, attacking Min Province.”

“Min Province had eighteen floating islands, most were struck down by the Japanese, only us several here fled to this place.”

Meng Hu, quiet until now, tearfully spoke, “Folks, the Japanese won’t stop here, they’ll definitely continue north, invading Jiangnan Province.”

“If I’m telling a lie, let me be eaten by a mutant beast outside and never find peace!”

He even swore an oath, as previously they encountered other floating island forces during the journey and had mentioned this.

But the others didn’t believe, or only half-heartedly considered the warnings, not taking them to heart.

And those unbelieving floating islands were invariably seized and wiped out by the Japanese.

If Liang Yuan’s group also don’t believe, once the Japanese arrive, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Meng Hu really hoped the people at Yangshan would take this seriously.

After observing these days, he found Yangshan to be more perfect than any other shelter he had seen.

The happiness index of the residents in this shelter is high, and he saw many people smiling.

Unlike the disaster-stricken imagery of the apocalypse.

In the apocalypse, some lost family, some lost companions, others lost lovers.

Many became disheartened, feeling despair in life.

More people lost themselves for survival, selling their bodies, selling their dignity for a meal.

But here at Yangshan, he didn’t see such cruel scenes; he could feel this place is truly a refuge for everyone.

Liang Yuan spoke, “Island Master Meng, we believe you. I’ve already arranged people to go to the south and scout the Japanese actions. If not unexpected, we’ll have news soon.”

“We’ll also begin deploying defenses. If the Japanese indeed have moved north, we won’t hold back, rest assured.”

Meng Hu nodded, saying, “I reiterate, Mr. Liang, if you need our help, just ask.”

“As long as it’s to kill the Wokou, I’ll do anything.”

The other island masters also spoke up, indicating their sincerity.

This scene earned much goodwill from the people of Yangshan.

Then everyone began discussing plans to counter the Japanese.

Mainly regarding the situation with the so-called radiation bomb.

After listening to Qu Jin and others’ descriptions of the Japanese radiation bomb, Liang Yuan couldn’t help but show a hint of solemnity.

Radiation waves that could trigger mutations in superpower users’ mixed genes, making them more active, are very dangerous for superpower users.

Liang Yuan did not doubt the authenticity of such a weapon.

Because during a drawing from his system, he had seen a similar gene recombination device.

Above it, the words ‘Genetic Directional Selector’ were clearly written.

This indicates such a weapon truly exists and might be invented.

“Looks like I’ll have to quickly find a way to cultivate gene recombination to 100% perfection.”

Once gene recombination reaches 100%, it means the genes within form a complete loop; no matter how active mixed genes are, they can’t affect a gene recombination expert with 100% progress.

Liang Yuan, upon reaching this realm, would be unstoppable among shelters, not even the Japanese.

At that level, one would be considered the pinnacle existence on this planet.

Beyond that, it would be the Star God level.

That level allows one to leave the planet and wander the stars.
