Apocalyptic Flood: Sexy Beauty Neighbor's Midnight Plea for Food

Chapter 834: Chapter 307: Freighter Refitting (Part 2)

Seeing Ding Yan bringing Zhu Yuchuan and others over.

”Liang Yuan, are you going out?” Ding Yan asked.

Liang Yuan looked at them and asked, ”What’s up?”

Ding Yan said, ”Zhu Yuchuan said that the Firebird has been modified and maintained. I brought them over to report to you. By the way, I want to ask you about the search and rescue mission at Linjiang University. How is your consideration on that matter?”

”The longer we delay, I’m afraid even if there are ships at Linjiang University, they might be taken by others.”

”Moreover, if Professor Li Hanzhong fails to awaken his mutant ability, he might not hold on for too long.”

”I’m thinking, shouldn’t we set off soon to rescue these talents?”

Liang Yuan nodded slightly. He had this idea for a long time, but due to the ship modifications, it hadn’t been advanced.

Now that the vessel’s refit and maintenance are complete, this matter must be prioritized.

Liang Yuan then looked at Zhu Yuchuan and asked, ”Is the modification of the hull completely finished?”

”It’s all completed. According to your instructions, not only was the entire freighter repainted with anti-corrosion paint, but the internal components and machinery were also refurbished.”

”The ship’s oil tank is full, the diesel generator has been refilled with diesel, and the electrical system has been checked and repaired, basically all intact.”

Zhu Yuchuan quickly reported the ten days of modification work.

He is a crew member himself, so he is well-versed in these tasks. In just ten days, he not only maintained the entire ship but also gave it a fresh coat of anti-corrosion paint.

Furthermore, the ship’s engine, electrical equipment, and other machinery were also inspected.

In addition, the bamboo house fortress modification on the cabin has also been completed.

Liang Yuan nodded, ”Take me to see the ship.”

Zhu Yuchuan quickly nodded and led Liang Yuan to the Firebird.

Liang Yuan checked while listening to Zhu Yuchuan’s report, nodding frequently.

Zhu Yuchuan indeed knows his stuff; he is a doer.

Of course, the tasks he did were simple ones. If it involved modifications of internal structures or troubleshooting mechanical equipment, he would be out of his depth. Those tasks require serious professionals.

The entire Firebird has drastically changed in appearance; its hull, which was originally covered in rust, has been painted red and white.

Red was chosen to make the ship more noticeable, making it easier to be identified at sea.

Doing so would, first, allow survivors to spot the ship in order to actively seek rescue.

Secondly, to alert other vessels on the flood waters to prevent collisions and other incidents.

Thirdly, red is relatively stain resistant; when mutant monsters are killed and blood splatters around, it would be less obvious.

The cabin is now covered with wooden boards, and two five-story, over twenty-meter-high bamboo houses have been built atop.

Each floor between the two bamboo houses is connected by bamboo ladders, facilitating passage.

The rooftop is an observation post equipped with binoculars to monitor distant situations.

The lower floors are empty dormitories, and the bottom floor is a kitchen.

The entire vessel has transformed from a cargo ship into a battleship after the refit.

Liang Yuan was quite satisfied with the modifications on the Firebird.

”Mr. Liang, now we just need a flag representing us from Yangshan,” Zhu Yuchuan said excitedly.

Liang Yuan raised an eyebrow at this.

Aboard a ship, the flag is indeed important; it identifies you and distinguishes friend from foe.

Furthermore, signal flags can be used to convey various messages.

But that would only be applicable if they had a fleet; currently, with just this one ship, signal flags are not very useful.

Of course, if encountering other ships, signal flags would come in handy.

Therefore, a signal flag is definitely needed.

As for the identity flag, it must also be made.

Especially as Liang Yuan plans to develop Yangshan into a large shelter and form his own fleet, this identity flag is indispensable.

”What do you think our identity flag should look like?”

Liang Yuan asked Ding Yan and others with a smile.

Everyone exchanged glances and began an enthusiastic discussion.

”I think we should make a flag representing Yangshan, so people immediately recognize this as a Yangshan ship from the outside.”

”Yangshan, Yangshan, I think we can make a flag with a sun emblem to represent our Yangshan.”

”A sun? That’s not good; that would be the same as Japan, right? Not good, not good.”

”How about a plum blossom? It represents Meishan, which is now part of our shelter.”

”A plum blossom, that’s a nice idea.”

”How about Fire Phoenix? This ship is originally called Firebird, and embroidering a Fire Phoenix pattern would be very grand.”

”If you ask me, it’s better to draw a big mountain, making it instantly recognizable as Yangshan.”

”Linjiang City has many hills; who knows which mountain is on your flag?”

”I’d say we should embroider a golden dragon, representing masculinity, like a king.”

...

Everyone argued back and forth passionately.

Especially Zhu Yuchuan, who seemed particularly persistent about what the flag should look like.

Only someone who understands maritime matters would know the importance of a flag.

This flag will symbolize their identity in the future, absolutely not something to be taken lightly.

Liang Yuan couldn’t help but smile and shake his head, ”Alright, alright, here’s the plan: after you go back, each person designs a draft, and later we’ll hold a meeting to vote by a show of hands.”

Everyone agreed excitedly.

Liang Yuan dispersed the group and headed home with Ding Yan.

On the way, Ding Yan asked, ”This time going out, who do you plan to take? Let me tell you in advance, you have to bring me; I’m familiar with Linjiang University.”
