From Folly to Fortune：I Rewrite My Life After Rebirth!

Chapter 1040: Chapter 1036: Reminiscing (First Update)

”Ah—”

Another scream echoed; the man was beaten black and blue, not able to match Lu Yuanfeng.

All he could do was lie on the ground while Lu Yuanfeng trampled on him!

Seeing this, coupled with Mu Shuangshuang’s encouragement, Ah Ru gradually grew fearless.

Mu Shuangshuang squatted down, picked up a small wooden stick from the ground, and poked the man’s face.

”The clothes your wife bought at the cloth shop are of poor quality?”

The man kept shaking his head in pain: ”No, no! I... Miss, spare me! I was just... I was just...”

”Just what? Speak clearly, or I’ll throw you into the mountains to feed the wild dogs!”

Mu Shuangshuang glared at the man fiercely and shouted.

The man, frightened, closed his eyes as Lu Yuanfeng’s foot still pressed on his hands, then shouted loudly: ”I’m the shopkeeper of Chunxiang Cloth Shop on the street ahead, selling clothes and fabrics for many years.

Business was always good, but starting last year, my shop’s business began to decline.

Then I heard about this girl opening a cloth shop; her clothes are stylish, and many people around started buying from her, so I...”

”So you came up with this despicable method to ruin Ah Rubu’s Mansion’s reputation?” Mu Shuangshuang interjected, speaking to the man.

The man stayed silent, evidently agreeing with Mu Shuangshuang’s words.

With this, the matter became clearer.

The entire affair was due to this cloth shop owner being unable to compete with Ah Ru and resorting to trickery in secret!

Such a person is truly detestable!

Mu Shuangshuang walked over to Ah Ru, asking her how to handle this matter.

”Shuangshuang, we should send this person to the government; the government should be able to help me resolve this situation.”

As soon as Ah Ru spoke, the man became terrified, pleading endlessly.

”Miss Ru, I know I was wrong, I know I was wrong. I won’t dare next time!” The man begged Ah Ru for mercy.

”Shut up! Speak again, and I’ll cut your tongue.” Mu Shuangshuang threatened the man again.

Since Ah Ru spoke, Mu Shuangshuang and Lu Yuanfeng were naturally willing to deliver the deceitful scoundrel to the government.

Lu Yuanfeng untied the rope used to bind Little Black Dog and used it to tie up the man before walking a short distance.

A plump woman rushed over; she initially wanted to beat Mu Shuangshuang with punches and kicks, but seeing Lu Yuanfeng nearby, tall and strong, she hesitated.

Crying, she claimed to be the man’s wife, wanting to settle the matter privately with Ah Ru.

She was willing to offer any amount of Silver.

Ah Ru thought for a moment and agreed!

She took two taels of Silver, and the man and woman ran away shamefully, not daring to look back, fearing Lu Yuanfeng might catch up and beat them again.

”Ah Ru, why is there only you in the shop?”

Since the incident began, no one from the cloth shop came to help; Mu Shuangshuang remembered Ah Ru had a worker in her shop.

”The worker and my mother went to Liu Family to make clothes for Mrs. Liu!” Ah Ru replied.

”Liu Family? Is that the one in town?” Mu Shuangshuang couldn’t help but ask.

Lately, her life seemed to revolve around Liu Family.

Why didn’t she feel Liu Family was so powerful before?

Was it because she was too close to Xue Family before, ignoring other families?

Thinking this, Mu Shuangshuang found it kind of amusing.

”Right! Mrs. Liu said the styles from our shop are unique, so she wants us to make clothes exclusively for her.

Oh, Shuangshuang, come with me to check the accounts; since we last met, until now—

I’ve sold a total of thirty sets of clothes. Your share is six taels of Silver.”

”Six taels? That’s a lot?” Mu Shuangshuang was astonished.

She nearly forgot about the cloth shop’s dividends; now suddenly having six taels of Silver, she was somewhat caught off guard.

”Yes, indeed, six taels! Generally, I sell a silk skirt for two taels of Silver; some are cheaper, some exceed two taels. Overall, your share should be six taels of Silver.” Ah Ru said with a smile.

After inviting Mu Shuangshuang and Lu Yuanfeng into the cloth shop, she took out the ledger.

Initially, Mu Shuangshuang wanted to refuse because she trusted Ah Ru’s character. But Ah Ru insisted Mu Shuangshuang review the ledger and even marked the silk skirt section separately for her.

Accepting graciously, Mu Shuangshuang didn’t decline anymore.

After reviewing the ledger, Mu Shuangshuang nodded at Ah Ru. ”The numbers are correct!”

Thirty clothes made six taels for Mu Shuangshuang, while Ah Ru made fifty-six taels.

I must say, the profit from women’s clothes is indeed substantial.

After taking her share of the Silver, Mu Shuangshuang continued chatting with Ah Ru while Lu Yuanfeng roamed around some nearby shops.

She mainly wanted to check out the cloth shop the man mentioned earlier and investigate.

”Oh, Shuangshuang, I mentioned wanting to open a cloth shop before; now I’ve gathered one hundred taels of Silver and spent eighty-eight taels to buy a new cloth shop.

Perhaps in one or two months, I’ll relocate! If you’re free later, I’ll take you to see it; next time you’re in town, you can come there to visit me.” Ah Ru explained.

”Congratulations, congratulations! Finally achieving your wish, but my and Fengzi’s restaurant is also open now, Chengfeng Restaurant in town is our property.

We’ll invite Aunt and your shop staff to Chengfeng Restaurant for a meal.” Mu Shuangshuang said with a smile.

This time, it was Ah Ru’s turn to be shocked and speechless.

”No wonder you haven’t visited for such a long time; turns out you’ve been busy with the restaurant affair.”

Ah Ru heard about Chengfeng Restaurant; it offered many unique things that other restaurants didn’t have.

Even had exciting storytelling, which was close to her new cloth shop.

”Shuangshuang, I have a feeling we’ll be seeing each other more and more in the future.” Ah Ru suddenly said mysteriously.

Mu Shuangshuang nodded, ”Isn’t your cloth shop very close to Chengfeng Restaurant?”

”Oh, you know everything, it’s boring, it’s boring...” Ah Ru said playfully, looking at Mu Shuangshuang with increasingly tender eyes.

After chatting for a while, Ah Ru’s mother, Mrs. Liang, returned with the worker.

Looking joyful, as if their time at Liu Family was pleasant.

Seeing Mu Shuangshuang, they exchanged pleasantries; once Lu Yuanfeng arrived, Mu Shuangshuang invited everyone to the restaurant for a meal.

It was mealtime, and the restaurant was bustling, but Mu Shuangshuang shamelessly didn’t help out.

Luckily, Yu Dahai didn’t complain and even arranged a private room with good food and drink for Mu Shuangshuang.

While inspecting the restaurant’s decor, Ah Ru kept praising Mu Shuangshuang and Lu Yuanfeng.

Mrs. Liang even commented: ”Shuangshuang, your restaurant’s decor resembles Mrs. Liu’s house; it’s in a similar elegant and distinctive style.”
