From Folly to Fortune：I Rewrite My Life After Rebirth!

Chapter 1028: Chapter 1024: Full of Schemes (Fourth Update)

”Sister, we have so many chestnut cakes at home, I want to take some to Sister Xiaxia, and also to Xiao Chu, and... Gou Dan and Sister Qingqing.”

Little Zhi suddenly lowered his head, murmuring softly.

Mu Shuangshuang looked at Little Zhi and curiously asked, ”Why do you want to give some to Gou Dan and Sister Qingqing?”

These past few days, Mu Shuangshuang had been in town, so she would bring back some food every day.

Sometimes it’s snacks from the restaurant, sometimes it’s candied fruits from the town.

The previous few times, since she brought back so little, Mu Shuangshuang hadn’t heard Little Zhi say he wanted to give some to Gou Dan and Mu Qingqing.

”Because today Brother Xiao Han said that Gou Dan was snatching food from others in the school, Little Zhi thinks he did it because he was greedy for snacks.” Little Zhi’s voice became even quieter.

”If Little Zhi gives him some snacks, he won’t snatch food from others.”

Mu Shuangshuang first nodded, ”The snacks are brought back for you to eat. If Little Zhi wants to give some to anyone, just do it. Don’t ask the sister!”

Then she continued, ”Sister knows you are kind, but kindness should be directed at the right people.”

Little Zhi nodded heavily.

She rushed into the house, and a moment later, came out with a parchment bag filled with a lot of pastries.

Holding the pastries, she headed to Old Mu Family’s house.

Little Zhi brought quite a lot of pastries, not only enough to share with Mu Qingqing and a few kids but even Old Mr. Mu and Old Mrs. Mu each had two pieces.

After eating, it was rare that Old Mrs. Mu didn’t scold anyone.

However, just as Little Zhi was about to leave, Old Mrs. Mu indirectly asked about the restaurant’s business.

The intention was naturally to find out how much money the third branch had made these days.

Little Zhi shook her head, ”Grandma, Little Zhi doesn’t know. Only the sister knows about the restaurant’s affairs. Even Mom and Dad don’t know!”

Old Mrs. Mu was a bit disappointed but still let Little Zhi go back.

When Little Zhi returned to the third branch, Mu Shuangshuang asked her to whom she had given the food, and Little Zhi answered truthfully.

She also mentioned that Old Mrs. Mu had asked about the restaurant business.

It was dinner time, and everyone saw Mu Shuangshuang deep in thought, so they came up to ask, ”Shuangshuang, is there a problem?”

Mu Dashan was the first to speak.

Mu Shuangshuang shook her head, ”It’s nothing, I was just wondering!”

”By the way, I ran into Matchmaker Sun today. I heard the Sun Family had agreed for Sun Dali to marry my younger aunt?”

Mu Shuangshuang glanced at Mu Dashan and Yu Si Niang.

These days, she and Lu Yuanfeng were busy in town learning about the Liu Family, so she didn’t pay attention to matters at home or in the village.

”I heard. Your grandpa and grandma have no objections, but the Sun Family is asking for a dowry of ten taels of silver.” Mu Dashan said.

Mu Shuangshuang found it interesting and couldn’t help but ask, ”Did Grandma agree?”

”Yes! Xiangxiang is her favorite, how could she not agree?

”But your second aunt was missing for two days, and nobody knew where she went. She probably just returned a short while ago!” Mu Dashan mentioned casually.

This information intertwined in Mu Shuangshuang’s mind.

Mrs. Lin’s disappearance, then her return right outside their house.

And the ten taels of silver bride price.

However, Mu Shuangshuang wasn’t worried that Old Mu Family would cause any trouble unexpectedly.

”Didn’t you and Fengzi go to town to ask about the Liu Family? What’s the situation?” Mu Dashan asked.

”The Liu Family indeed is a prominent family in town, but that Mrs. Liu wasn’t originally a benevolent person. It was only after her daughter died that she started doing good deeds.” Lu Yuanfeng chimed in from the side.

”Died?” Mu Dashan was visibly surprised.

”Yeah, but the Liu Family still has a young master. However, judging from people’s words, Mrs. Liu clearly loved her daughter more.

But that’s all irrelevant. The important thing is that this time, Mrs. Liu originally didn’t plan to hold a birthday banquet. A few days ago, she said her daughter came in a dream, hoping Mrs. Liu would hold it properly.

So, Mrs. Liu decided to hold the banquet at a restaurant in town. She said the restaurant needn’t be fancy, just the food has to be good.” Mu Shuangshuang explained.

After saying all this, everyone had a better understanding of the Liu Family in town.

”Brother Dahai already got the invitation, but we’ll have to wait for further details from the Liu Family.” Mu Shuangshuang added.

Everyone felt somewhat reassured.

However, being invited was just the first step, there were still many steps remaining.

Recently, the restaurant added some new items, and if they can leverage the Liu Family’s banquet and let others in town know about Chengfeng Restaurant, it would be good indeed.

After discussing Mu Shuangshuang and Lu Yuanfeng’s restaurant, it was Mu Dashan’s turn to talk about the school.

The school had been open for quite some time now, and apart from Sun Dawu’s son, Xiao Zhu, running away once, there hadn’t been any major incidents.

But Mu Shuangshuang still frequently asked Mu Dashan about the school’s progress.

This time was no different.

”Nothing much at the school, just that a kid from Zhang Family Village has been absent. This is the third day, and he hasn’t come to school!” Mu Dashan said.

Mu Shuangshuang thought for a moment, she remembered the kid from Zhang Family Village.

Because he was the only one sent from Zhang Family Village to study.

”Did his family give any reason?” Mu Shuangshuang asked.

”No, I’ve sent someone to inquire, but there’s been no news.” Mu Dashan replied.

”If he doesn’t come tomorrow, I’ll go with Fengzi to their house in the afternoon to see what’s going on.”

With Mu Shuangshuang offering to help, Mu Dashan felt slightly relieved.

After dinner, Lu Yuanfeng helped clean up the kitchen and then took Yuanbao back home.

Once Lu Yuanfeng left, Mu Shuangshuang exercised in the courtyard for a while, took a hot bath, and had a comfortable night’s sleep.

Early next morning, Mu Shuangshuang and Lu Yuanfeng went to town again.

In the afternoon, Mu Shuangshuang was scheduled to tell stories, and in the morning she helped out at the restaurant, checking its operations as well.

During her free time, Mu Shuangshuang flipped through the restaurant’s account books. The accountant was hired by Yu Dahai, and although he was old, he was sincere, and from the current look, his accounts were problem-free.

Flipping through a few pages, Huang Er came out from the kitchen to ask Mu Shuangshuang about making a hamburger.

Currently, the new dishes at the restaurant were only being taught to Huang Er.

Due to the incident with Sun Dawu, Mu Shuangshuang placed a huge emphasis on character when hiring people.

Luckily, Huang Er showed talent in cooking.

Although he started from scratch, he was learning quite well.

Mu Shuangshuang demonstrated the process of making a hamburger once more, watching as Huang Er prepared one unknowingly.

Tasting the hamburger, Mu Shuangshuang became more and more confident in Huang Er’s potential.

”Well done, you’re getting better. Keep this up, and Huang Er, you could lead the team soon.” Mu Shuangshuang said.

Huang Er was so excited that his chef’s hat almost fell off.
