Chapter 22: Chapter 22 Fire Demon

“`

“Roar…”

Roaring sounds echoed from the forest. Lin Feng and Murong Xue were besieged by over a dozen giant forest wolves. These wolves towered seven to eight meters tall, their strength was terrifying. After an hour of continuous battle, they barely managed to slay the wolves but were utterly exhausted and hurriedly sought a place to rest.

“Are you sure we are on the right path? We’ve already encountered five waves of fierce beasts.”

Murong Xue said irritably.

Lin Feng and Murong Xue were heading to a place called Heavenly Broken Cliff. Lin Feng had been there before, so he knew the route and was leading Murong Xue there. However, the journey was fraught with danger. Lin Feng said, “Don’t worry, there’s no mistake. This area is inherently perilous. I’ve heard there’s a group of Fire Demons living deep in this forest. When the time comes, we’ll need to pass through the Fire Demon Territory carefully.”

“What? Fire Demons too? We have to cross the Fire Demon Territory?” Murong Xue’s pretty face changed abruptly.

Fire Demons are terrifying communal beasts known for their flame attacks, so ordinary people dare not provoke them.

“Can’t we take a detour?” Murong Xue slightly frowned.

Lin Feng said, “As far as I know, there’s only this one road.”

Murong Xue nodded.

After resting for a while, Lin Feng and Murong Xue continued their journey. When they passed through the Fire Demon Territory, they were attacked by a Fire Demon.

The Fire Demon was similar to a giant ape but was surrounded by flames and had a horn on its head. Its body was not covered with hair but scales.

The Fire Demon was incredibly powerful, likely a leader-level Fire Demon, and Lin Feng and Murong Xue struggled to fend it off.

“That’s the roar of a Fire Demon,” Sun Kui shouted loudly.

“Quick, let’s go and see,” Yuwen Yunfeng said excitedly.

He had been searching for the Fire Demon Territory, and hearing the roars meant their destination was near.

The Fire Demon attacking Lin Feng and Murong Xue saw from afar a group of over a hundred cultivators. It abandoned its attack on Lin Feng and Murong Xue and charged towards a nearby valley, which should be the Fire Demon Territory.

“People from the Soul Devouring Hall.”

Lin Feng saw Sun Kui, and his expression slightly changed.

He and Murong Xue quickly darted into the dense forest, hiding behind a giant rock.

Soon, a group from the Soul Devouring Hall approached.

Li Tianshang asked puzzledly, “The Fire Demon was roaring continuously just now, do you know why?”

“Perhaps it saw us and signaled the other Fire Demons?” Sun Kui said, puzzled.

Yuwen Yunfeng nodded and said, “That’s possible.”

The group did not think about other possibilities because they were far away when Lin Feng was fighting the Fire Demon and didn’t see Lin Feng or Murong Xue.

“It’s Yuwen Yunfeng.” Murong Xue saw the leading Yuwen Yunfeng and revealed a murderous intent in her eyes.

“What? You have a grudge with them?” Lin Feng asked.

“A year ago, some of my fellow disciples went out to train and saw Yuwen Yunfeng leading a group of Demon Dao experts slaughtering innocent people in a small town. Over ten thousand people were massacred just because Yuwen Yunfeng wanted to cultivate a Demon Dao secret technique.”

The Soul Devouring Hall’s evil was infamous, but Lin Feng didn’t expect they would mercilessly slaughter so many innocents for the sake of cultivating demon skills, leaving him at a loss for words.

Lin Feng said, “This person is truly hateful.”

“Evil scum of the Soul Devouring Hall, everyone wants them dead,” Murong Xue said through gritted teeth.

“They are coming, let’s hide,” Lin Feng whispered.

Before long, Yuwen Yunfeng and the others walked over, and Lin Feng and Murong Xue even held their breath.

Then they heard Sun Kui’s flattering voice, “Young master, just ahead is the Fire Demon Territory.”

“We finally reached the Fire Demon Territory. In this place where Fire Demons live, every ten years, some Fire Demon Liquid is produced. Now, it’s exactly the ten-year cycle. Once I obtain this Fire Demon Liquid, my cultivation can directly break through to the Martial Master Tenth Level. By then, I’ll only be a step away from the Martial General realm.”

Yuwen Yunfeng displayed an extremely proud smile.

At twenty years old, achieving the Martial Master Tenth Level cultivation indeed marked him as a genius!

“Young master is divinely gifted, and will surely be a renowned figure in the Three Thousand States of the Heavenly Martial Continent,” Sun Kui and the others immediately flattered.

Hearing the praises from the group, Yuwen Yunfeng also wore a smug expression.

Lin Feng said at this time, “Did you hear Yuwen Yunfeng and the others talking? They mentioned the Fire Demon Liquid. According to the Strange Objects Chronicles, the Fire Demon Liquid is Spiritual Liquid of Heaven and Earth. Such treasures can sculpt the physical body, enhance cultivation, and are considered Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures.”

Murong Xue said, “No wonder Yuwen Yunfeng ventured into the Wilderness Jungle—it was to seek the Fire Demon Liquid.”

Lin Feng said, “This is a soul treasure of the world, extremely rare. If we miss this once, we may never encounter it again. If there’s a chance, I wouldn’t mind snatching Yuwen Yunfeng’s Fire Demon Liquid.”

Pausing, Lin Feng continued, “Besides, within the Fire Demon Territory ahead, there are many Fire Demons. For Yuwen Yunfeng and others to obtain the Fire Demon Liquid, they must deal with these Fire Demons. That’s our opportunity.”

Murong Xue also looked eager, saying, “Then let’s be the mantis stalking the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind them. We’ll seize the Fire Demon Liquid, leaving Yuwen Yunfeng with nothing.”

Lin Feng and Murong Xue quickly headed in the direction of the Fire Demon Territory. As they arrived outside the Fire Demon Territory, they heard earth-shaking roars from within. The Fire Demon that previously attacked Lin Feng and Murong Xue now led dozens of Fire Demons out, confronting Yuwen Yunfeng and the others from several hundred meters away.
