Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 1991: Chapter 2001: Still Have to Face It

At the time?

The driver was dumbfounded by his question.

It was ten years ago when he first met his father-in-law, so how could he remember what he wore?

But since Lord Lawrence asked, he couldn’t very well answer with ”I don’t know.”

He could only bite the bullet and say, ”It should be something formal. I think I was wearing a suit back then.”

A suit, huh.

Baron Lawrence’s tense jaw relaxed a bit, and the anxiety in his eagle-like eyes faded considerably.𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

By comparison, his attire today could be considered formal yet not overly formal.

He suddenly felt satisfied with his appearance.

God knows that a moment ago, he was so anxious he almost wanted to go back and change.

The driver could sense his nervousness, thought for a moment, and then plucked up the courage to say, ”Lord, actually, you don’t need to be so nervous. I remember when I first met my wife’s parents, I was also very anxious, and I almost made a joke of myself because of it. So it’s better to relax, take it easy. You’ll perform a bit better that way.”

”Nonsense!” He knew he should relax, but if he could, he wouldn’t have been sleepless all night.

”Is there any trick besides relaxing?”

The driver was so flustered under his intense gaze that he could hardly hold the steering wheel, but he thought seriously for a moment and said, ”I remember my wife told me back then to be sweeter with my words and quicker with my actions.”

”How to be sweet? How to be quick?”

”Well...” the driver then realized that his situation was different from Baron Lawrence’s, and he explained, ”It’s like this, Lord. When I met my wife’s parents, besides her mom and dad, there were also her relatives and friends. So my wife told me to sweeten my speech and greet everyone. They value such courtesy over there, and it seems more polite.”

”What about quick actions?”

”Quick actions meant that when having a meal at home, I should help out in the kitchen by washing some vegetables for her mom or help to get the tableware. But your situation with Ms. Clark’s family is different; they probably don’t need you to fetch the tableware. So my experience might not be relevant to you.”

Baron Lawrence was anxious but not stupid.

As soon as he heard what the driver said, he knew it was of no reference value.

The Habsden Family is an aristocratic family, and Old Madam Habsden is of noble birth as well, so they probably value etiquette the most. If he really went into the kitchen to ’show off’ his abilities, Old Madam Habsden might dislike him even more.

It was the first time he wanted to please someone who didn’t like him.

Previously, he never cared whether others liked or disliked him; it was none of his business. Like it if you want, dislike it if you want; it wouldn’t hinder him in any way.

But now this person had become Enna Clark’s grandmother, and he had no choice but to care.

The driver sensed the shift in atmosphere again and, at a loss for words, could only offer reassurance, ”Lord, don’t worry. You are so excellent; Old Madam Habsden will surely like you.”

Baron Lawrence glanced at him, his brow knitting even tighter.

Old Madam Habsden liked Lyle Westbrook, and even though he didn’t like that man, he had to admit that Lyle was quite excellent.

So, the trait of being excellent didn’t make Old Madam Habsden think highly of him.

While he was agitated, the car drove into the manor—

Hatton Manor is located in the wealthy area of Linton City, a villa-style manor, but larger and more luxurious than a villa. Previously, the outside world didn’t know who owned the manor, but now he knew—it was a Habsden family estate.
