Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 893: Chapter 893: New Year’s Celebration

After tidying up in the space for quite a while, I only managed to sort out the calligraphy and paintings simply. As for their value, I really don’t quite understand. This kind of physical labor is quite comfortable instead.

Upon coming out of the space, Daqing, Chengzi, and Da Linzi were waiting for me outside.

”Why didn’t you knock?”

”Big sister-in-law, we just arrived as well. Let’s go have a meal together.”

The four of us went to the canteen, and along the way, the three of them seemed hesitant to speak. Su Yuanyuan originally didn’t want to hear the inner thoughts of those she was familiar with and close to, but their hemming and hawing aroused her suspicion.

It turns out Chengzi and Da Linzi, having been away for so long, felt a bit estranged and just wanted to inquire about the current situation and also wanted to persuade me.

Actually, this really isn’t necessary.

They reached the canteen and had their meal there.

”Big sister-in-law. I want to withdraw,” Chengzi said somewhat bitterly.

”It’s normal if you want to leave, isn’t there a formal application process?”

”Yes, but it’s just feeling very lost about the future.”

”What’s there to feel lost about? Just because you withdraw from here doesn’t mean you have to leave the industry. Although you might not be carrying out missions anymore, you can still become instructors, isn’t that also quite good?

For so many years, the skills and experience you’ve accumulated can be passed on to others, helping them avoid detours and minimize injuries, isn’t that your wish?”

The three of them were silent; they already understood the situation, but ultimately couldn’t bear to leave it. Since their teens, they’ve been doing this for over a decade, having lingered countless times at death’s door. They’ve carried out all sorts of missions.

Wanting to retire, yet not knowing what to do next. That’s what’s making them feel lost.

After the meal, the four of them stayed together. ”Big sister-in-law, I want to talk to you.”

Su Yuanyuan nodded, ”Let’s go to my home, if you have anything to say, just say it directly.”

The three followed her into the house together.

”Big sister-in-law, I don’t want to be an instructor. Can I be your bodyguard? I know my situation. My skills aren’t that exceptional, but my life was saved by the boss. Now that he’s not here, I thought I’d stay by your side.”

”Chengzi, this is not something I can decide, you should apply for it. Leader Zeng is responsible for this.

Of course, I prefer familiar people to be responsible for my safety, it’s definitely a good thing for you to come.

But I feel that being an instructor benefits you. You’ve risked your life, for the country, for the people; it was also your ideal.

But you also need to be clear, since you’ve paid the price, why not seek returns?

Being an instructor is greatly beneficial for you, you’ve already avoided sacrificing in the first half of your life, in the latter half, you should think about settling down and benefiting your family.”

What is it that they do not understand? It’s just a hurdle in their hearts they can’t get over.

”I hope you all think carefully. I don’t have the authority to interfere with security arrangements, but if you want, I’ll also tell the leaders.

But as I see it, I hope you can live a stable life in the latter half of your lives.”

After Su Yuanyuan finished speaking, the three of them bowed their heads. Daqing is very ambitious, having been trained by Zhang Chunsheng for almost a year, and he is aware of future promotions.

But he just feels this hurdle in his heart, Chengzi is right. Their lives were saved by the boss, and after the boss left, it was the big sister-in-law who continued to take care of them. Even those hemostatic drugs are like a rebirth favor for them.

Hearing the big sister-in-law’s words now, it suddenly seemed unnecessary to be entangled in these matters.

”Big sister-in-law, I understand now. I’ll work even harder to be your backup in the future, and definitely support you.” Daqing understood that safeguarding lives is important, but now the position of the big sister-in-law is here.

He knows the big sister-in-law does not have much power now. If he has the ability, he can also become a strong backup for the big sister-in-law.

Su Yuanyuan nodded, ”It’s good that you have figured it out.

Moreover, let me say something I shouldn’t say, you guys aren’t young anymore. After retiring, you should quickly start a family.”

That’s about all she can say. That’s already Su Yuanyuan’s limit; she’s not the type to meddle in affairs.

Chengzi didn’t say a word, he’s a stubborn person, and he understood what both the big sister-in-law and Daqing said. He just wants to stay by the big sister-in-law’s side to protect her. Now that he’s back, he can apply for it.

After sending off the three of them, Su Yuanyuan went back into the space to sleep. It’s too comfortable inside. There are only a few days left before leaving, so it’s best to enjoy a few more days.

The next day was New Year’s Eve, and everywhere was filled with the atmosphere of the New Year. The clothes of the children running on the street were especially neat. Some even wore new clothes.

Children looked forward to the New Year because they could eat meat, have new clothes, and candies. Simple happiness.

Some teenagers recognized Su Yuanyuan. Therefore, they would greet her actively. In the eyes of these passionate young people, the Su Yuanyuan family was their heroes. Especially Tan Shaoting, who in their eyes was a god-like figure.

Su Yuanyuan would smile and talk to them.

Seeing her expression, the other women tentatively started talking to her as well.

This is how interactions between people work, if both parties sincerely wish to interact, the sincerity can be felt.

The lunch was quite a feast. It’s a special day today, almost nobody ate at the canteen; those who came were mostly young teens, while the women were likely cooking at home.

When it was Su Yuanyuan’s turn, the chef had a big smile.

”Xiao Su, I prepared some delicious food for you. These pig trotters were braised last night, there are also chicken legs and offal, I’ve cut a bit of each for you.”

Su Yuanyuan thanked with a smile, ”Thank you, master chef, the pig trotters are really delicious.”

”Don’t mention it, there are also braised lion’s head meatballs. I’ll give you a little bit of each, knowing you don’t eat much.”

This time Su Yuanyuan didn’t take it all at once.

Just then, Hu Zi arrived. He came back in the morning. After reporting to work, he checked the time, and along with Zhang Chunsheng and Zhou Cong, they came over together.

”Big sister-in-law.” Hu Zi was really happy, he was thinking of visiting the big sister-in-law tomorrow, but Daqing called to say the big sister-in-law is celebrating the New Year at the garrison.

”You’re back?”

”Yes, big sister-in-law, shall we eat here or go back?”

”Let’s eat here, it’s convenient.”

After greetings, they lined up for meals.

This canteen is prepared for the families. Zhang Chunsheng will have to eat at the big canteen with everyone for lunch shortly, so he sat down to chat with Su Yuanyuan.

”The master chef really favors you.” He said with a smile.
