Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 248: 248 result

The two girls didn’t arrive at the Women’s Federation until three in the afternoon.

This place is for the protection of women and children. The two of them reported the situation, and it turned out that this place was already aware and had already taken action. The two girls came right on time.

Moreover, Su Yuanyuan had brought a letter signed by multiple people.

”Comrade, we are all women, so it’s easier to talk. I’ve seen Daya’s body before; it’s covered in scars, old wounds that look particularly gruesome.”

The head of the Women’s Federation, a middle-aged woman with a bob cut, listened to Su Yuanyuan’s words, and her eyes reddened.

”Comrade, thank you for your righteousness. Thank you for running around for Comrade Daya.”

”It’s what I should do. I really can’t bear to see her suffer like this. As women, we absolutely cannot let such tragedies happen again.”

The head of the Women’s Federation held Su Yuanyuan’s hand and praised her extensively.

Now that they had taken over, Su Yuanyuan let out a breath of relief. It would be better for Daya. After all, she was just one person, without enough influence and might even be seen as causing trouble.

The two returned to the hotel, Xiao Song went home. They hadn’t eaten lunch, and Su Yuanyuan was now feeling very hungry.

The other two girls gathered around Su Yuanyuan, found out what happened, and felt at ease knowing that the Women’s Federation would help.

Su Yuanyuan went outside to buy a few sorghum buns and returned to the police station.

Daya was also receiving good care here. After all, she truly deserved sympathy.

After delivering the food, Su Yuanyuan met Zhang Shengli again.

”Director Zhang, I’ve handed the letter to the Women’s Federation.”

”Hmm.” Zhang Shengli just smiled.

Two days later was the public trial. Many people gathered. Looking at the pitiable woman, elderly women among them shed tears. Some empathized, some sympathized, and overall, the atmosphere was very oppressive.

The head of the Women’s Federation also attended. She gave a rousing speech, which made everyone sympathize with Daya even more.

The final verdict was that Daya, for intentional harm, was sentenced to five years at the Northwest Farm.

Su Yuanyuan breathed a sigh of relief. Five years, though not short, was relatively light considering the circumstances.

Daya just looked at Su Yuanyuan below and smiled. Everyone who saw this smile felt a pang of sadness.

She was taken away. She would probably be sent off in the next few days.

Su Yuanyuan left with the crowd. She went straight back to the hotel.

The three girls on duty today were anxious since they couldn’t leave due to their jobs.

Su Yuanyuan told them the result, and all three girls breathed a sigh of relief.

”Isn’t it tough over in the Northwest?”

Su Yuanyuan nodded, ”I suppose so. But it’s only five years.”

In the evening, she went to the police station because, after the sentencing, she could talk to Daya.

Today, Su Yuanyuan brought buns specifically for Daya. This time, no one was watching, and Daya could eat them.

”Thank you, Su Yuanyuan.”

”No need. Just take good care of yourself in the future.”

Daya nodded vigorously, ”I will, don’t worry.”

The two talked a lot. Su Yuanyuan told her about the help she received from outside.

”I will be grateful to them.”

”Yes, you should be. It will probably be very tough there.”

Daya laughed, ”Can it be tougher than before?”

Su Yuanyuan laughed, ”Yeah. You should stay optimistic like this.”

”I will.”

The next day, they learned the departure time. Tomorrow, they would send Daya away from here.

During the day, Su Yuanyuan specifically asked the three girls at the hotel to help make dumplings for Daya.

”Xiao Su, where did you buy this meat? And the flour is really good.”

”It’s just a little, let Daya taste dumplings. She said she’s never had dumplings in her life.”

The three girls fell silent. Life isn’t easy now, but they still get to eat dumplings once a year. Compared to Daya, they really are quite fortunate.

In the evening, Su Yuanyuan brought Daya dumplings and twenty cornbread rolls. Although they were cold and would be very hard, for Daya, that was not a problem.

”I’m leaving tomorrow too. This is the money I’m giving you, make sure to keep it safe. Having money will give you peace of mind.”

Daya had seen money before but didn’t know how much this was.

”Daya, this is a hundred yuan. I’m giving you some large bills and some change to make it easier for you to use.”

”Su Yuanyuan, I will definitely pay you back in the future.”

Su Yuanyuan shook her head, ”As long as you’re alright, that’s enough.” Honestly, having lived two lives, Su Yuanyuan was quite surprised she could treat Daya this way.

Maybe it’s really fate between the two of them. Su Yuanyuan took out needle and thread, sewed a pocket inside Daya’s clothes, and put the money in it.

”Don’t let anyone else know you have money. I’ll also give some money to the people sending you, to ensure you have food on the train.”

Daya smiled through her tears, saying nothing.

After Su Yuanyuan stepped out, she went directly to find Zhang Shengli.

”Director Zhang, who is sending Daya?”

”It’s a male comrade and a female comrade.”

”Director Zhang, can I bring some money for Daya, at least she’ll have something to eat on the train.”

”We will arrange that from our end.”

”Still, let me bring it, it’s the last thing I can do for her.”

Finally, Zhang Shengli accepted the fifty yuan, planning to give it directly to Daya upon arrival.

Su Yuanyuan was not in a good mood, but the matter was settled, and it was the best result. There were no regrets.

She went straight to the train station, for the nine o’clock train. After buying a ticket, she returned to the hotel with two pounds of flour and a half pound of fatty meat.

She wanted to thank the three girls. They were all good-hearted people.

So, the four girls had a delicious dumpling meal at the hotel.

Knowing Su Yuanyuan was about to leave, the three of them felt reluctant.

”If you write to me, I won’t be able to receive it. Let’s meet again if fate allows.”

At half-past nine, Su Yuanyuan got on the train, still not feeling happy.

She didn’t know that far away, Tan Shaoting was always thinking about her.

That day, when Tan Shaoting came back, he met Zhang Chunsheng.

”Did you run into Su Yuanyuan?”

Tan Shaoting nodded, ”Yes, luckily she got off the train, luckily she was playing around, otherwise we really wouldn’t have run into each other.”

”Because of protocol, I didn’t tell her your news.”

Tan Shaoting nodded, ”I understand. I’m glad I saw her.”

”I’ll tell you some good news. You’ve been promoted, you’re a squad leader now.”

Tan Shaoting smiled. It was the result of his hard work, but he also knew that Su Yuanyuan’s donation had played a part.

”I actually wanted to leave with her.”

Zhang Chunsheng patted Tan Shaoting on the shoulder. He didn’t have a girl he liked, so he couldn’t understand.
