Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 233: 233 surveillance

Still a bed, not a kang, it’s really a torture in winter.

After tidying up, the old couple invited her to eat.

Yuanyuan didn’t stand on ceremony, just corn porridge and pickles.

After eating, she learned about the situation here from them.

Since they mentioned collecting quality seeds, she talked about seeds.

The old couple didn’t know much, but they were somewhat informed.

Actually, they took Yuanyuan in because she looked sociable and also because of the five pounds of cornmeal. It’s refined grain, which can’t be bought now.

At eight o’clock, they parted to rest. Yuanyuan kept an eye on Zhang Hongxi’s family.

She was really angry about the things they collected. How many families did it take to gather so much?

They didn’t take any action at night. Tomorrow, she would follow Zhang Hongxi, always feeling he was perfunctory to his wife, to see what secrets he had, perhaps finding a way to deal with him.

That night, Yuanyuan lay in the bed with her clothes on. It was just too cold. She was even holding two hot water bottles.

She got up in the middle of the night to add coal. The room was not that cold now.

Next morning, Yuanyuan took out three pounds of cornmeal. ”Aunt Zhang, since I’m eating at your house, I must give you food.”

They didn’t refuse and took the three pounds of cornmeal.

After breakfast, she left with the Zhang couple. When they invited her back for lunch, she refused. Who knows what could happen?

Once outside, she wandered around but didn’t venture far.

Liu went to work first. Zhang Hongxi stayed home for a while then left too.

He seemed to be in a very good mood. She followed him to a nearby house. A quite beautiful woman opened the door.

Yuanyuan monitored them from outside and unexpectedly discovered an affair.

”Xiaoqin, tomorrow night we can load the truck. By then, we’ll make a big amount again.”

”Hongxi, when will you leave that woman? I’ve been with you for five years. How many more five years do I have?”

”Xiaoqin, hold on. Their family has significant influence now. If I really leave her for you, we’ll both be in trouble.”

Their daytime intimacy made Yuanyuan feel like she was getting eye sores. It was so damaging, so she quickly looked away.

But she knew their plan now, which was also good.

She didn’t deliver the winter melon yesterday, really couldn’t have gone out at night while staying at someone else’s place.

Following Zhang Hongxi now, there was no time to deliver the winter melon, so she mentally apologized.

As Zhang Hongxi left the woman’s place, he went straight to his workplace. He was still interrogating Li Hongxiang, but the old man was tough and now there was hope. He was even less likely to talk.

He didn’t get any information and left annoyed.

He still went to Li Hongxiang’s house at noon. This time, he still found no entrance, even if he had, there would have been nothing.

She continued following him in the afternoon. This man’s love life was truly colorful.

Yuanyuan found her notions about men completely shattered. Truly, you can’t judge a book by its cover; he seemed refined and polite, not like a scumbag at all. Reality was indeed like this, but no new info surfaced.

Until the day of shipment, he was in a really good mood. The woman surnamed Liu continued going to work as usual. After all, good stuff could be procured from here.

Zhang Hongxi waited at home and went out for lunch.

Yuanyuan took this chance to sneak into Zhang Hongxi’s house. She waved and stored everything away, placing them discreetly in a corner. This would have to be turned in later, or she’d feel uneasy.

Back home, she continued observing the area. Come night, when the woman returned, both were extremely excited, understandably so, since they were about to see money. Who wouldn’t be thrilled?

Until around ten at night, two trucks arrived.

Zhang Hongxi eagerly entertained them, but they were quite indifferent toward him.

”Alright, load it up quickly. This time Mr. James came personally. He’s overseeing goods brought from elsewhere. Several trucks will be leaving together this time.”

Upon hearing this news, Yuanyuan smiled broadly. This was good news. She had been worried about not finding someone. Now was the chance to ensure they regard this event with fear in the future.

”Mr. James is here too? Should I go see him?”

”No need, sir is waiting to leave.”

Just then, Zhang Hongxi heard his wife’s scream.

Startled, he was also quite displeased. This late at night, why so loud?

He went into the main room with a stern face only to see his wife running out in panic.

”Old Zhang, everything is gone.”

It was night, and Zhang Hongxi couldn’t see his wife’s pale face.

”What’s gone?” he asked, entering the room himself.

There really was nothing inside, completely cleaned out.

Zhang Hongxi was dumbfounded, what was going on? How could this happen?

The man who followed him inside snickered, ”Zhang Hongxi, so you’ve found a bigger buyer, have you? If so, you should’ve told me sooner, so we don’t waste a trip?”

”No, it’s not like that. I truly have no idea what’s happened. Where did the goods filling this room go?”

”That’s what I want to ask you, too. Did all the items in the room grow wings?

You wanted to meet Mr. James, didn’t you? Well, now’s the time, let’s go.”

He couldn’t bear this burden himself. Zhang Hongxi had to shoulder this matter.

But Zhang Hongxi had no desire to go now. He more or less understood James’ nature and knew he’d be in trouble.

But he had no choice anymore.

When they drove away, Yuanyuan found a way to sneak onto the empty truck bed at the back.

The truck drove for about half an hour before stopping. Yuanyuan slipped into the space but kept an eye on the outside.

She saw the foreigner, who appeared to be a quick-tempered individual.

Ha, coming to our country trying to act big? Dream on.

So Yuanyuan controlled the space to approach another truck, which was loaded with porcelain, and stored everything away.

There were six trucks in total, and she stored them all.

Yuanyuan saw more than ten boxes of Jinyu, which made her grumble with gritted teeth. Such treasures from our country being taken like this. However, she felt quite depressed. Without these domestic beasts assisting, it wouldn’t be so easy for them.
