The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 189: Chapter 147: Go! Bring It Back Immediately!

Realizing the urgency of solving the case, Li Jian immediately dialed the traffic police captain’s number.

After a long ring, the call was finally answered.

”Hello!”

”Mr. Qin, this is Li Jian!”

”Mr. Li, calling at this hour, is there something going on?”

Li Jian said gravely, ”Sorry to disturb you, but there’s something very urgent.”

”Does it concern us, the traffic police?”

”Yes! In a criminal case we’re handling, a very important person died two days ago on the southern bypass of the city highway.”

After a brief pause, Mr. Qin asked in confusion, ”Oh? Is there a problem?”

Li Jian chuckled, ”Mr. Qin, don’t get me wrong; the traffic police have their expertise. Our criminal investigation team focuses on combating criminal offenses.”

”That body was treated as an unidentified corpse by you. We now suspect there’s someone who looks very much like him, so we want to examine the body, extract relevant samples, and make a comparison to determine his true identity.”

”If we uncover the deceased’s identity and achieve results, it can count as an achievement for both departments!”

After thinking for a moment, Mr. Qin said, ”That sounds like a good outcome.”

”We have been unable to handle the body of this unidentified corpse due to the lack of family members.”

Hearing the other party’s tone soften a bit, Li Jian said, ”Mr. Qin, can you tell me where the unidentified body is right now?”

”It’s being stored at the Jiangcheng City Funeral Home in the freezer.”

”However, the body has already been examined by a forensic expert to determine the cause of death.”

Li Jian smiled and said, ”After the forensic examination, of course, there’s no problem!”

”We just want to extract relevant samples and perform a comparison to confirm the identity of the deceased. There’s no conflict between the two.”

Finally, Mr. Qin asked, ”Mr. Li, do you need any assistance from us, the traffic police?”

”No need! Thank you!”

”We are heading to the funeral home right away to examine the body!”

”Right now?”

Mr. Qin glanced at his phone screen; it was already 10:30 PM.

”Is it that urgent?”

Li Jian replied, ”Working late nights is already a habit for detectives, and besides, it’s not too late now.”

Until the busy tone came from the phone, Mr. Qin’s head was still buzzing.

”Are the detectives in the criminal investigation team really this proactive?”

At this moment, he lay in bed, wide awake, with the corpse from two days ago on the southern city bypass highway appearing in his mind.

Meanwhile, after Li Jian hung up the phone, he said gravely, ”It’s all sorted out. Let’s head out immediately!”

”Yes!”

Instantly, Jiang An, Zhang Yean, and Wan stood up.

minutes later, at Jiangcheng City Funeral Home.

The funeral center looked exceptionally quiet late at night.

After the police car stopped, the group got out.

Seeing the dim lights, Zhang Yean felt a slight tinge of fear in her heart.

Then, Li Jian went straight to the reception desk at the funeral center.

”Hello! I’m Li Jian, the captain of the Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation Team. We want to examine the body found on the city highway two nights ago. Could you please transport the body to the forensic autopsy center?”

A girl behind the counter, who was watching a drama, was surprised, ”You want to examine the body now?”

Li Jian nodded, with a determined look.

The girl picked up the logbook on the table, flipped through it for a while, and murmured to herself.

”Two nights ago...”

Then, she looked up and said, ”The body from two nights ago on the highway has already been examined by a forensic expert.”

Li Jian said gravely, ”Their examination was not professional. We want to re-examine it!”

The girl glanced at Li Jian, hesitated for a moment, and said, ”I’ll inform the person in charge of the mortuary right away.”

minutes later, in Forensic Autopsy Room No. 1.

Li Jian, Jiang An, Zhang Yean, and Wan donned forensic autopsy protective suits.

The traffic accident body was already placed on the forensic autopsy table.

Wan held an ID card in his hand, comparing it with the photo on the card.

He said, ”It’s Huang Bing, no mistake!”

Li Jian also looked down, confirmed, and nodded.

Jiang An finished organizing the examination equipment and approached the forensic autopsy table.

He observed the body on the table for a long time, with key points of examining a body from a traffic accident flashing in his mind.

For this type of body examination, it’s necessary to first determine whether death was caused by a vehicle collision or if it’s possible that the body was dumped on the road after death to fake a traffic accident.

This is the most important and critical point.

Especially for bodies found on roads at night. The driver might have been fatigued and not even know how they hit the deceased.

As Jiang An thought rapidly, Zhang Yean looked and said, ”Wasn’t the previous forensic examination too cursory?”

”They’ve already determined the cause of death, but the deceased’s clothes are still on the body.”

”Are they treating the body examination as a joke?”

Wan chuckled and said, ”I heard some say that when external forensic experts conduct body examinations, if a deceased’s skull has fractures, it’s deemed death from cranial brain injury.”

”If the chest of the deceased has multiple rib fractures, then it’s death from a ruptured heart.”

”I used to think it was just a rumor, but today it seems true.”

Zhang Yean also shook her head, ”I can hardly imagine how outrageous the conclusions about the cause of death are.”

At this moment.

Jiang An’s eyes were sharp as he carefully observed the body in front of him.

His attention was all on the deceased’s clothing.

The deceased was wearing a black T-shirt on the upper body and black pants on the lower body.

In Jiang An’s view, clothes are the outermost layer of the human body.

According to Locard’s exchange principle, there will inevitably be a material transfer as long as there’s contact.

No matter what the deceased had contact with while alive, his clothes are likely to retain some special substances.
