Chapter 185: Chapter 145: Is This a Coincidence?

Li Jian shook his head after a moment.

”I don’t think the killer intentionally sabotaged it.”

”In past cases I’ve handled, criminals deliberately destroyed surveillance to evade investigation.”

”But based on my experience, they at most sabotage the surveillance a day or a few hours beforehand.”

”I’ve never encountered a case where surveillance was sabotaged three days in advance.”

”After all, if surveillance is destroyed many days in advance, it could easily be detected and repaired promptly.”

”Once the surveillance is repaired, the destruction loses its purpose.”

Wan tilted his head and thought for a moment.

”Mr. Li, what you’re saying makes a lot of sense.”

”In terms of timing, the span is indeed too long.”

”If an engineer repaired it early, then he might not have had the opportunity to commit the crime.”

After a long pause, Li Jian turned to look at the property center.

”However, we shouldn’t put all our hope on the surveillance.”

”Just now, we found broken cups and displaced coffee table in the room 1 on the 12th floor of building 3.”

”I highly suspect that is the first death scene.”

”But the killer moved the body 20 kilometers away to Yongming River and disposed of it.”

”This clearly indicates the killer has strong anti-investigation capabilities.”

”Therefore, I think even if the surveillance system is restored, we might not spot the killer’s figure in the elevator footage.”

Wan thought for a while and asked, ”Do you mean the killer might have avoided the surveillance cameras?”

Li Jian nodded, ”We can’t rule out that possibility.”

”After all, both elevators have surveillance cameras, and if one entered, they would definitely be seen.”

minutes later, when Li Jian and Wan returned to room 1 on the 12th floor of building 3, the scene investigation was about to end.

Jiang An and Zhang Yean were undertaking the final wrap-up work.

Seeing Li Jian and Wan come in, Zhang Yean asked excitedly, ”Mr. Li, is there an important discovery in the surveillance footage?”

Li Jian looked solemn and shook his head.

”The surveillance is broken and under repair, probably won’t have results until tomorrow afternoon.”

Suddenly, Zhang Yean felt a bit disappointed, ”Such a coincidence?”

Wan said, ”Sis, it truly is a coincidence!”

Then, Li Jian looked around inside and asked in a deep voice, ”Did you guys find anything important here?”

Jiang An replied, ”Through our meticulous investigation of the interior, we found no traces of disturbance.”

”The deceased Wu Yan’s belongings are all in the wardrobe, the safe is intact without any signs of forced entry.”

”Moreover, we found a large sum of cash in the handbag next to the safe.”

”Hence, overall, we didn’t find any signs of theft by outsiders.”

Then, Jiang An walked to the center of the living room and said, ”Based on the position of the coffee table and scattered glass fragments, I highly suspect the first crime scene is in the living room.”

”Also, the motive for murder is very obvious as no possessions were taken from the scene.”

Li Jian asked in a serious tone, ”Do you mean it’s a vendetta?”

Jiang An nodded, ”The killer’s motive is very clear, and after committing the crime, they cleaned the scene and moved the body to dispose it in the water.”

”So, this person is very composed and mature.”

”I highly suspect it’s a premeditated murder.”

”Premeditated murder?”

Just as everyone was deep in thought, Jiang An continued, ”We also found an unused towel in the bathroom, the label is still on.”

”Additionally, there is an unopened toothbrush on the washstand.”

”Considering the victim’s activities and time of death that night, I highly suspect the victim was killed after attending the celebration banquet.”

After thinking for a while, Li Jian asked, ”Do you mean there might be a second person accompanying Wu Yan home that night?”

Jiang An nodded, ”That possibility is very high.”

”Also, judging by the grooming items prepared by the victim, this person has a very close relationship with the victim and might have intended to stay here.”

At this point, Li Jian suddenly recalled the female secretary’s account.

”On the company’s anniversary night, Wu Yan’s coach drove over to pick her up.”

Could the second person that night be the male coach?

After pondering, Li Jian suddenly said, ”However, that male coach is now missing.”

Wan looked alarmed and said, ”Mr. Li, is it possible the coach was also killed?”

”Just not disposed of at the same location, which we haven’t discovered yet.”

Suddenly, Li Jian turned and stared at Wan with wide eyes.

Wan felt spooked by his gaze.

He quickly said, ”Mr. Li, I’m sorry!”

”I was just speaking casually, you can call me a jinx.”

Li Jian said in a deep voice, ”Wan, the possibility you’ve mentioned does indeed exist.”

”And it’s quite strong.”

”A person suddenly disappearing is likely dead.”

Li Jian then muttered to himself, ”If the coach and Wu Yan returned to the room that night, they might have both met their end.”

At this time, Zhang Yean suddenly asked, ”A fitness coach should have good physical fitness.”

”If the killer dealt with a man and a woman at once, could the killer be alone?”

Just as she finished speaking, everyone fell into contemplation.

Jiang An also frowned slightly at Zhang Yean’s excellent question.

Can a single killer effectively control two victims, especially one being a male fitness coach?”

Suddenly, Li Jian asked, ”Was there any poison found in Wu Yan’s body?”

Jiang An shook his head, ”Nothing was found in the victim’s gastric contents or blood.”

”Moreover, analyzing the characteristics of the neck injury, the victim was alive when her neck was compressed.”

Li Jian looked around and asked, ”Did you find any bloodstains in the room?”

Zhang Yean shook her head, ”No!”

”We didn’t find any bloodstains upon investigating the bathroom using special lighting.”

”No bloodstains, could it also be death by strangulation without external blood?”

Wan asked curiously.

Li Jian looked around the room.

”If the motive for this crime was a vendetta,”

”Then from whom would a 24-year-old girl hold such deep hatred?”

”Furthermore, if that male fitness coach was also killed, what grudge would the killer have with the coach?”

After a moment, Wan had an idea.

He said, ”Could it be that Wu Yan’s boyfriend discovered she cheated with the coach, and in a fit of rage killed them both?”

After thinking for a moment, Li Jian said, ”We can’t rule out that possibility right now.”

”But aside from the chance they were both killed, we must also consider if the coach could be the killer.”

”He might have fled after committing the crime and vanished.”

At that moment, a series of ”meows” came again from the balcony.

Li Jian was surprised, ”Wu Yan raised a cat?”

Zhang Yean nodded.

”Mr. Li, the cat is very expensive.”

Following the sound, Li Jian went to the kitchen’s service balcony.

A white pet cat was at the corner of the balcony.

Li Jian squatted down and petted the white cat.

After a moment, he stood up and said, ”Currently, we can judge this case wasn’t motivated by theft or robbery turning into murder, it’s very likely a vendetta.”

”Next, we’ll focus on investigating all of Wu Yan’s social relations, finding the conflict.”

”Especially the love life of Wu Yan, which must be a priority in our investigation this time.”

”Additionally, we should urgently retrieve all surveillance footage from Wu Yan’s store entrance, checking this past month’s customers, trying to spot suspicious persons.”

”Yes!”

”This cat should have many vaccination records, we need to investigate pet stores and interview people who might know Wu Yan to further understand the victim’s personal relationships.”

”Yes!”

After assigning the next steps, Jiang An suddenly asked, ”Mr. Li, did you understand the revenue and loss of Wu Yan’s store during your visit to Shulan Clothing Company?”

Li Jian answered, ”We did, on the way.”

”Wu Yan’s store location is relatively remote, the income is not good, in nearly two years of operation, the average monthly net income is only around six thousand.”

”Six thousand?”

Zhang Yean was suddenly shocked.

”The cat on the balcony costs tens of thousands?”

”And I saw many brand-name bags in the wardrobe.”

”Even the cooking appliance in front of us is imported.”

Suddenly, it’s like Li Jian realized something.

He looked around, focusing on all the furniture in the room.

Indeed, everything in his view was very high-end.

Li Jian’s pupils narrowed as he considered another possibility.
