Lust System: Harem Of Beautiful Women

Chapter 675  Birds Of A Feather Flock Together

The image on the surveillance footage was clearly the front desk of the teahouse.

Regarding the previous surveillance equipment, Arthur had originally said they could just use the ones someone had given him to offset a debt. But when they brought them over, they found that they had been stored for so long that the quality had already deteriorated badly.

Moreover, those old surveillance cameras had poor image quality and were all off, brand junk, so in the end, all of it went to the scrap collector for cheap.

Daniel couldnʼt really be called a homebody, but as a college guy who studied science and engineering, he had a huge interest in gaming consoles and electronic gadgets.

Besides playing games, his skill at tinkering with these devices was also impressive. Honestly, he could have easily opened a repair shop or something like that without any problem.

This could be said to be his only hobby aside from eating, drinking, whoring, and gambling. To make his sister, in, law spend a bit more money, this task was handed over to Daniel.

Birds of a feather flock together. The common trait of this couple was that they were both prodigal spenders.

When spending their own money, they might hesitate a bit and calculate carefully, but when spending Luisʼs money, Daniel flung it around like it was nothing.

The surveillance equipment was the best and highest, spec model available. Not only was the image quality crystal clear, but it also came with audio recording functionality, which could prove to be incredibly useful at a critical moment.

Pete watched in stunned silence, his eyes wide…

”Ptooey! This damn unlucky place of yours ruined my luck, and you still have the nerve to charge so much money?”

”We charge by the hour here. The prices are clearly posted.”

”Clear my ass. You have the nerve to charge so much for this dump?”

”Let me tell you, you have to cut me a break today. Just give me the discount, and Iʼm not paying a cent more than that.”

”If you donʼt have the money, then donʼt come out at all. I donʼt want your damn money anymore. You can just get the hell out of here. What a piece of trash.”

Seeing the entire incident play out so clearly, Peteʼs expression turned extremely ugly. It was obvious that his father was the one acting like a shameless scoundrel.

Minda smiled and said, ”Is your dadʼs ʼfaceʼ always this big wherever he goes? Take a look at how awkward your relatives looked.”

Her tone was purely sarcastic and provocative, which was also a step that Luis had arranged.

”This, this… Itʼs not at all what he said.”

Even Pete felt that his father had gone a bit too far.

When he had received the phone call, his father had been wailing and crying, saying things like a man with a son was being bullied by a man without a son, and other such nonsense.

Coming from a single, parent household, Pete considered himself a filial son. He knew his father had many flaws, but he never imagined that Old Peter would lie through his teeth, saying absolutely anything that came into his head.

He had rushed back in a furious rage, wanting to stand up for his father, but he never expected it to end up like this. He had been completely deceived.

”Isnʼt that right? Why donʼt you call your relatives and see for yourself?”

Minda added another sentence.

”Hey, Uncle Kin!”

Pete walked outside the office, lit a cigarette, hesitated for a moment, and then dialed the number.

It was the father of his girlfriend, Little Lan. Yesterday, his father had insisted on taking the family out to eat, and after the meal, feeling inspired, they had all gone to play a few rounds of cards.

”Xiao Yong, about what you mentioned, well, how should I put it.”

”Your father is a bit too stubborn and crude. The way he acted yesterday made everyone really uncomfortable.”

”Winning or losing a few hundred dollars is no big deal, right? But slamming the table after just a few hands, that kind of card etiquette isnʼt very good.”

”As for the room charge, rounding down a little is one thing, being thrifty is normal.”

”But trying to knock off that much all at once, theyʼre running a small business. Isnʼt that just making things difficult for them?”

”Since weʼre already out, we shouldnʼt be afraid to spend a little money…”

These words made Peteʼs face burn red with shame. He knew that his future father, in, law looked down on his own father a bit.

Indeed, his father had acted outrageously. The other party had already been quite polite by speaking so euphemistically, so it was normal for them to be dissatisfied with that kind of behavior.

”Yes, yes, Uncle Kin is right. My dad sometimes just gets fixated on small things.”

”The main issue is that there were conflicts before. That family lives upstairs from us, and thereʼs always noise…”

Pete tried to explain frantically, but the result was that he only made things worse. The gentle voice on the other end of the line had already begun to show a hint of displeasure.

”If you have conflicts with your neighbors, why did you go there in the first place?”

”Did you bring us there specifically to pick a fight? Thatʼs such a buzzkill.”

”Sigh, your aunt and I are both educated people. Calling us along for something like that is useless…”

”Xiao Peng, you should try to reason with your father first. To be blunt, heʼs just being unreasonable and looking for trouble.”

”Okay, Uncle Kin. Please donʼt be too angry.”

After hanging up the phone, Pete was filled with resentment.

But the target of his resentment had shifted from the Wood family to his own father.

In the past, his father had often argued with people and caused trouble, and every time, Pete would blindly side with his father.

But this time was different. It wasnʼt just that his father was being unreasonable, as his son, he was already numb to it and didnʼt want to say anything anymore.

However, this time his father had acted like a complete scoundrel in front of his future father, in, law, and now his future father, in, law had a problem with it.

His girlfriendʼs family was from a scholarly background and was quite well off. His future father, in, law had even been willing to help and support him, but then his father pulled that ridiculous stunt, leaving everyone utterly dumbfounded.

Minda was standing just inside the door, listening. She chuckled and said, ”See? I didnʼt lie to you, did I?”

”Technically, your father hasnʼt paid his property management fees for ten years. And when something happens, he comes looking for us. Tell me, how wronged are we?”

”This… How, how much does he owe?”

Remembering the lawyerʼs letter, Peteʼs heart began to race with anxiety. After all, that relocation apartment was in his own name.

If he actually got sued, it would be a huge hassle, not to mention what his boss and his future father, in, law would think of him if they found out.

And what they said was true. If you donʼt pay a single cent and then come running the moment something goes wrong, if word of that got around, it would be utterly shameless.

Pete went to the finance department and paid the overdue property management fees without hesitation. They didnʼt charge him any late fees, which made him feel a bit better.

But the moment he finished paying, Minda added, ”Youʼd better keep an eye on your father. Make sure he doesnʼt do anything else stupid.”

She hinted with a sarcastic tone, ”With his kind of character, if he keeps acting like this, heʼll only make a fool of himself and embarrass everyone. He still has to live here in the future.”

”Thatʼs right, whereʼs my dad!”

With that reminder, Pete slapped his forehead and immediately ran outside, frantically calling his fatherʼs phone. But no one answered.
