Strongest Hammer God

Chapter 1141: Leaving Home

As Kyle looked at Ayuvar, he felt a complex feeling of nostalgia, goodwill, and loss. He had been in Ayuvar for the vast majority of his life, and it had also been the first place he had considered home.

He had been moving back and forth in the Tertiary World. Sure, the Stark Brotherhood had been nice, but it had been more of a job than a home. The Array of Stars had felt similarly to him. Naturally, the Secondary Sector hadnʼt felt like a home at all. He had just gone from one place to another.

Yet, Ayuvar had been his home. He had made many connections with Humanity, and he had seen how hard everyone had worked to preserve their home.

Sadly, the old Ayuvar was gone, destroyed by Fox. The Ayuvar Kyle could see right now was not the Ayuvar he had called home. However, he still enjoyed being here.

And now, he was about to leave, and he knew that he would most likely never see it again.

ʼBut I also donʼt need to see it again,ʼ he thought. ʼIʼve made my peace with this place. Still feels strange to leave it all behind after such a long time, but itʼs not like Iʼm going to stay here.ʼ

Kyle glanced at Sebastian, who had noticed Kyleʼs silence. Naturally, he knew what this silence meant. The excitement of finding a better Fusion vanished as Melanieʼs face appeared in his mind.

ʼHoney...ʼ Sebastian thought as a deep feeling of dread spread through his existence.

It was not too late.

He could still see her one last time.
ʼI donʼt want to,ʼ Sebastian thought. ʼI fear that, if I see her again...ʼ

ʼI might not be able to leave.ʼ

Sebastian remembered his last moments with Melanie. After a deep embrace and some tears, the two of them had simply said a simple goodbye. And then, they had just left.

They didnʼt want to make it too hard on the other one. The quicker everything passed, the better.

Melanie was not within the range of Sebastianʼs Divine Consciousness, and it was good that way.

ʼSheʼs probably crying. She must be in a lot of pain.ʼ

Sebastian smiled weakly.

ʼBut I probably donʼt feel any better.ʼ

Sebastian remained just as silent as Kyle.

ʼI donʼt know how I am supposed to continue without you. Am I supposed to keep acting all excited about everything, distracting myself from the emptiness I feel deep inside? Am I just supposed to act like nothing is wrong? Am I supposed to say that everythingʼs fine?ʼ

ʼMaybe... I donʼt know. With enough time, I might start to believe that my excited mask reflects my true face. Kyle and I are about to enter the Supreme World again. I canʼt wallow in this misery. Not now. Thereʼs a time to think about my pain, but thereʼs also a time when it has to take a backseat.ʼ

ʼHoney...ʼ

ʼIʼm sorry. Iʼm sorry that things had to develop in this way. I know thereʼs nothing I couldʼve done differently. As much as it pains me to say, I have to accept that you simply arenʼt talented enough to become an Immortal. If you had been a Legendary Transcendent, you wouldʼve managed to reach the Advanced Fusion Realm. Sadly, you didnʼt, and itʼs not for a lack of trying.ʼ

ʼSometimes, hard work isnʼt enough. Which Immortal hasnʼt worked their ass off to get to where they are now?ʼ

Sebastian released an empty chuckle.

ʼWell, I guess I did. Iʼve spent a lot of time with you. I guess Iʼm just luckier.ʼ

ʼWeʼve spent more than a lifetime together. Weʼve stayed true to each other for a number of years that would make almost everyone else envious.ʼ

ʼBut itʼs never enough. You canʼt have true love for long enough. It will always be too little, even if youʼve done everything perfectly.ʼ

ʼIʼll miss you, Honey, and I will never stop missing you. It doesnʼt feel like I will ever get over your loss, but I know that I canʼt understand my future self. Back when I entered the Tertiary World, I also believed that I would never get over my old family, but with time, things became easier.ʼ

ʼThe guilt I would feel if I were to forget the pain of losing you might kill me, but I know thatʼs what you want from me. You want me to feel happiness. You want me to forget this pain. You donʼt want me to forget you, but you want me to forget our shared pain so that I may live again.ʼ

ʼIʼll try my best. I donʼt know how, but I will try.ʼ

ʼGoodbye, Honey.ʼ

ʼI will always love you.ʼ

A single tear ran down Sebastianʼs left eye as a warm smile appeared on his face.

Kyle remained silent for a while longer, giving Sebastian the time he needed to come to terms with their departure. He knew that Sebastian had it much worse than him.

ʼThe slight bit of regret and pain I feel probably canʼt even begin to compare to what Sebastianʼs feeling right now. The most important person I have ever lost in my life was Lara, and while I believe that I have loved her, it might not be true. To be honest...ʼ

ʼI donʼt know if Iʼve ever loved anyone. I know that love requires someone to open their heart fully. You need to allow the other person to get so close to your most vulnerable place that a mere misstep of theirs could mentally kill you. Iʼm not sure if Iʼve ever allowed anyone to get that close.ʼ

Kyle looked up.

ʼHave I ever shed a tear for someone else? I donʼt remember. Have I cried when Lara was about to die? Iʼve cried in front of Lindsay, but that wasnʼt because of love but desperation.ʼ

ʼCan I even love? I wanted to try with Lara, but Iʼm not sure if things would have worked out. I donʼt know.ʼ

”So, are we ready?” Sebastian asked, a smile on his face.

Kyle shook his head for a moment, banishing his doubts. The time for doubts was over. They were about to enter a new World, and they needed to be ready. Kyle didnʼt know a lot about the Immortal Dimension.

”Yep, Iʼm ready,” Kyle answered with a nod.

”Then, letʼs go!” Sebastian shouted.

”Sure!” Kyle shouted back as Black took out his hammer. ”We gotta get through the hole quickly. Just let me do the flying.”

Red and Blue grabbed Sebastianʼs Avatars as Black activated his Refined Law of Death.

Kyle threw one last glance at Ayuvar.

For a moment, he thought about saying goodbye to Swamp Dragon, but he decided against it. He still wanted to kill Swamp Dragon, but as said before, he also didnʼt want him to die. It was a contradictory feeling that couldnʼt be solved.

The only way to deal with it was to accept its existence and learn to live with it.

Blackʼs hammer swung forward and hit reality.

BANG!

Reality broke like glass, and all of Kyleʼs Avatars shot through it. At the same time, Red left a streak of complex Immortal Elemental Energies behind, which were quickly used to repair reality.

Reality returned to normal. No one but Swamp Dragon had noticed.

When Swamp Dragon saw the hole closing, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

ʼKyle...ʼ

ʼI want you to break the balance. I want you to be the one to break this endless war. The Heaven Breaker needs to return. He must abandon his eternal chase.ʼ

ʼI hope you can do just that.ʼ

ʼYet, whether you can or canʼt do it...ʼ

ʼI wish you all the best. I want you to find happiness.ʼ

ʼThank you for everything, Kyle, and while I didnʼt have the opportunity or the right to say it to you in person...ʼ

ʼIʼm sorry.ʼ
