Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 1574 1574: From Beast to Hunter

Like almost everyone else, Adam started his journey from scratch. Sure, if he had been born in the Third Ring or Second Ring instead of the slums, his childhood would have been better, but now he understood that overall it would have made almost no difference.

Any ordinary human, except maybe those born into high noble families, would be scared of what was outside the Citadel walls.

They knew that there, in the Dead Lands, were dangerous monsters that could kill hundreds of people in the blink of an eye. Obviously, no one wanted to die and face that kind of threat. It was logical and understandable.

So... How would an ordinary human react when they learned that there was a person in this world who voluntarily chose to live in the Dead Lands, among dangerous monsters?

Moreover, it was not a safe spot near the Citadel that would be constantly under the control of powerful Phantoms, it was the middle part of the Primal Lands, where even Fridaʼs influence ended.

Most likely, they would not believe it or would say that this man was insane and had lost his mind.

Adam did not think so.

He rested well at the Citadel after returning from Izardo, but here, he felt like a knight who, after a great battle with his comrades, sat by the fire and needed nothing else.

This soup was one of the most delicious he had ever eaten, and no hotel, even the most luxurious one in the First Ring, could offer him the same.

”Iʼm not sure I want to stay here forever like you, but I wonʼt hide the fact that I like everything so far.”

Adam looked at Goen.

”How long have you been living here? Did you build this house yourself?”

Goen nodded.

”Every stone, log, and thing here was made by my own hands. What can I say? Carving a spoon out of wood with the right depth turned out to be more difficult than defeating a monster, but only the first time. After some time, I got the experience.”

”What are you going to do next?”

Goen shrugged.

”I need to gather firewood. I would invite you to come with me, but—”

Before Goen could finish, Adamʼs eyes closed as he fell onto the sofa. He was already asleep.

”Yeah, thatʼs exactly what I meant. You need to rest, both of you.”

He glanced at Alexia before getting up and going outside.

Goen didnʼt have to worry that someone would sneak in and attack Adam and Alexia while he was gone. He wasnʼt going to go too far, and none of the monsters around would dare to do so.

No beast would want to feel his wrath.

If a hunter could not only survive surrounded by monsters but also build a home for himself among their lands, it showed how great his power was.

...

Thump! Thump! Thump!

A dull sound, one after another, echoed in Alexiaʼs head, gradually waking her up.

Her eyebrow twitched as she opened her eyes with a displeased look.

The first thing she saw was a half-empty cauldron of soup, several empty bowls, and Adam sleeping.

But she didnʼt need to guess what had happened here, as Louis quickly told her everything since Silvana had been closely monitoring their situation.

”The hunter who lives in the Primal Lands and fed Adam soup?” Alexia frowned. ”If his name is Goen, then you must have learned something about him, right?”

However, Louis shook his head.

ʼNo information, either about him or his power level. Although from what I saw, heʼs most likely a Second Rank Phantom. But that didnʼt surprise me. Maybe there really is no information about him, or maybe Iʼm just denied access. Something else is bothering me.ʼ

”Hmm?”

Louisʼs gaze became more serious than ever.

ʼWhere is his Operator?ʼ

Alexia blinked several times.

The events after defeating Vaarh were chaotic due to the wyvernsʼ attack, but she had a little time to look at Goen before he knocked her out with an energy pulse.

She had been hanging onto his back but hadnʼt heard him communicate with anyone, and she hadnʼt seen anyone else near them. Moreover, neither Adam, Louis, nor Silvana had noticed anyone else in Goenʼs house besides him.

”Huh, I didnʼt even think about that. Well, sheʼs probably somewhere nearby or lives at the Citadel.”

Louis tilted his head, confused.

ʼDo you think they meet at the Citadel every few months? Do they have some kind of long-distance relationship?ʼ

Alexia sighed heavily.

”I donʼt know. But, we should definitely find out more about it, and...”

Thump! Thump! Thump!

”What the hell is that noise?!”

Despite her shout, Adam continued to sleep soundly. He had become stronger after reaching the Highest Bliss, but he had used up all his resources to defeat Vaarh.

He needed a long rest. The soup was delicious, but it was clearly not enough.

”Tsk. He decided to sleep right now?” Alexia gritted her teeth as her gaze fell on several boards by the wall. One of them fit her plan.

Crack.

With a creak, the door opened as Alexia stepped outside, using the board as a makeshift crutch.

Sure, she could hop on one leg like a rabbit, but that would be even more inconvenient, and Alexia didnʼt want to look ridiculous.

As soon as she stepped outside, she immediately understood the cause of the sound.

In the distance, Goen was swinging his axe over and over, delivering powerful strikes to the same spot, gradually cutting through the sturdy tree trunk.

ʼHeʼs just chopping wood, and itʼs causing vibrations throughout the entire area? Agh, this will still be more interesting than watching Adam sleep.ʼ

Not without difficulty, but Alexia soon reached Goen.

”Hmm?”

He paused in mid-swing, looking at Alexia.

”What? Didnʼt you like my soup?”

Alexia snorted. ”Iʼm not hungry.”

”Liar.” He struck the tree with his axe. ”Iʼll be done soon.”

”And then what?”

His face remained calm.

”Weʼll all eat together by the fire. Have you ever tried monster fish?”

Alexia blinked several times in disbelief.

”Agh?”
