Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 1552 1552: Coming from Above

Vaarh became the final trial for Adam and Alexia at the Frost Oasis, as he was its creator and owner. This happened to him not by his own will, but it was his path to survival, and up until that moment, he had done everything right.

Many had died, monsters and Phantoms, so that Vaarh would have enough energy to create a new body for himself, one that had almost as much power as his old one.

Even though their fight had not yet begun, he had already surprised them twice. The first time with his appearance and story, and now with how he had turned part of his old body into a weapon.

Adam stared intently at the long, dark, metallic spear with a blue tint in Vaarhʼs grip. The tip was quite long for a normal spear, almost crossing over into the realm of a halberd.

At the same time, there was nothing remarkable or unique about the appearance of Vaarhʼs weapon. It was an ordinary spear that could have been found in a dusty corner of a blacksmithʼs shop.

Still, Adamʼs heart was beating fast since he understood that it couldnʼt be that simple, especially after everything they had been through.

The Red Demon had forced Alexia to use one of her strongest abilities. She had easily defeated it, but that monster was no match for Vaarh.

They were on different levels, and this was obvious even from Vaarhʼs aura alone. Neither Adam nor Alexia was sure they could defeat him, and deep down, it scared them because there were two of them and he was alone.

”Adam, remember our goal. Let Alexia attack first, she is stronger than you right now. Once you get his blood, your evolution will begin.”

Silvanaʼs voice rang in Adamʼs head.

”I donʼt know if you can defeat him before you become stronger, but as soon as you fulfill one of the conditions for the Third Grand Star, it will happen. I am sure of it.”

Adam nodded weakly. Alexia knew about their plan through Louis, but even if they hadnʼt said anything, she understood how she had to act.

But.

Step!

Vaarh decided to take the initiative and set the pace for their battle.

His next step kicked up dust from the ground, and when the dust veil reached his calm eyes, he swung his spear.

SLASH!

The wind blade swept forward as Adam managed to duck at the last moment, the blade sweeping right over his head, cutting the tips of his hair.

Tremble!

The blade reached the wall, leaving a deep cut in the stone.

At the same moment, Alexia lunged forward. She didnʼt hold back and immediately used the white mist.

”If you think you can defeat us, youʼre wrong!” Alexia exclaimed as her fist headed towards Vaarhʼs face.

Without fear in his eyes, Vaarh put his palm out in front of him to block Alexiaʼs strike.

Strangely enough, he succeeded. Alexia crashed into Vaarhʼs fist like a solid rock.

Or... did it just look that way?

BAM!

The impact passed through Vaarhʼs body, throwing him backwards. With a shocked expression, he quickly thrust his spear into the ground to stop himself.

Unable to believe what was happening, Vaarh looked at his palm. Several cuts had opened up in his frozen skin.

Vaarh didnʼt need to say anything. His thoughts were clear from his expression.

He hadnʼt expected to be unable to block Alexiaʼs strike. If he had his old body and strength, he would have stopped Alexiaʼs fist and counterattacked. Perhaps in that case, Alexia would have been seriously injured right away.

”Hmm...” Vaarh hummed as he clenched and unclenched his fist several times. ”I see. I should be more careful.”

When Vaarh looked up, he immediately found himself in another situation, because Alexia had taken advantage of this brief pause.

Tap.

Two large ice spears appeared above her as her arm was raised high.

”What? Didnʼt expect me to be able to hurt you? Youʼre overestimating yourself!” Alexia exclaimed before waving her arm.

The two ice spears spun like drills before flying straight at Vaarh, who was still standing in the same spot.

As before, there was no fear in his eyes. He had made a mistake and gotten a few scratches. In his opinion, there was nothing to be afraid of.

He was one of those who had gone through many mistakes to reach his level. Not all monsters had to go through a long and difficult journey to reach the Lord Level.

Now, one victory separated him from returning to his former strength, and he did not doubt that he would pass this trial as well.

”Two spears? Fine, I have something to respond with.”

Vaarhʼs eyes flashed as long, sharp claws of black iron appeared on his left hand.

A glint ran across the claws as he made a single swing.

Three white streaks appeared in the air before colliding with the ice spears, shattering the icy weapons into pieces.

The frost vapor from the destroyed spears filled the space, obscuring the view for both sides.

Whoooooooosh.

Alexia leaped forward, intending to take advantage of this moment to catch Vaarh off guard.

But Vaarh had been thinking the same thing. This was far from his first fight.

”Agh?”

Alexiaʼs eyes widened when she felt pressure on her right hand. The iron claws squeezed her gauntlet with such force that the pipes closed and the metal surface was dented.

”You move well, but Iʼm surprised youʼre still alive. If I took such risks in every battle, I would have died more than a hundred times, at best.”

Under his deep voice, Vaarh raised his spear high.

ʼShit!ʼ Alexia tried to break free, but Vaarh had no intention of letting her go.

ʼAlexia, we have to use this, or heʼll cut you to pieces!ʼ Louisʼs voice rang out in Alexiaʼs head.

She was ready to agree, but at the last moment before Vaarhʼs attack, something happened.

Tap.

A pebble fell on Alexiaʼs shoulder, followed by a huge ice worm that broke through the layers of earth straight to their arena.

Now, Alexia and Vaarh were just a second away from the ice wormʼs jaws with hundreds of teeth devouring them both.
