Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 1558: Eternal Cold (Part 2)

As before, Adam still had his strengths and weaknesses. Despite how many new abilities he had acquired along the way, Adam still lacked abilities that could protect him or destroy large numbers of enemies at once.

Sure, he was now at the peak of his powers, and using the Evolution Vein Orders, he could attack multiple enemies at once, but it was still a far cry from the fiery explosions Fromund was capable of or the falling ice crystals Alexia summoned.

So, in a situation where Adam was facing more than a hundred opponents, and he wasn’t strong enough to defeat them with a few strikes, he was in mortal danger.

Usually, Adam avoided such situations or prevented them from happening, but now he didn’t have that option.

Vaarh did not think he would need the help of simple monsters, but if it brought him closer to victory, he was ready to use it and everything else necessary to win.

Crackle!

Adam threw the monster aside. It was large and strong enough to take up some of Adam’s time. The two white wolves were approaching him from the side, and he didn’t have time to make a decision.

But...

”Agh?”

Shock covered Adam’s face as a frosty gust of wind swept past his eyes.

The monsters, accustomed to the low temperatures and harsh conditions of the Frost Ridge, backed away. Even they couldn’t ignore the cold coming from Alexia.

Adam turned to look at Alexia.

Her hair trembled in the air, shining brightly, while streams of energy ran through her hands, heading toward her fingertips.

Adam knew what this ability was.

She had used it when they fought the ghost spiders to turn each of them to ice.

’But...’ Adam narrowed his eyes, staring intently at the frost mist. ’Something’s wrong. This isn’t the ability she used down in the caves. Has the Ancient Frost changed it?’

Earlier, a compressed orb of frost energy should have appeared between Alexia’s hands. Still, now, the mist wandering between her fingers created a complex seal unique to Alexia and this ability.

One glance at the seal was enough to make the monsters retreat even further. They did not want to become the target of her attack, and even Vaarh’s order could not override their fear for their lives.

However, none of them could be saved. They did not know what awaited them.

”Gha...”

Alexia took a deep breath as she looked at the seal floating in front of her.

It was the result of her work and all the effort they had put into reaching the azure tree and obtaining the Ancient Frost.

Now, it was time for her to use this power to help Adam and lead them both to victory.

”This will be enough.”

Step.

Alexia stepped forward, grabbing the seal with her hand.

Without hesitation, she fell to one knee and slammed her palm into the ground with all her might, activating the seal.

A bright blue flash covered the Frost Ridge as the first wave of frost passed from the seal.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

An active tremor ran through the ground. The monsters were stunned, they didn’t know what to expect, and even the always calm Vaarh frowned. The energy waves he felt did not bode well for him.

”NOW!” Alexia exclaimed as she directed her single energy pulse into the seal.

At the same moment, ice peaks burst from the ground, covering the entire snow expanse within the Frost Ridge.

Crack. Crack. Crack.

One after another, the ice peaks destroyed the surface, bringing with them waves of frost and streams of blood spurting from the monsters that had been struck.

The monsters tried to dodge or even destroy the ice peaks, but it was pointless.

Everything happened too quickly.

In just ten seconds, the entire snow expanse was covered with bloodied ice peaks, a thick layer of ice from the frost, and more than a hundred dead monsters.

Moreover, those monsters that managed to avoid direct collision with the ice peaks were only slightly luckier than the others.

The frost filling the energy of the seal turned them into ice statues that seemed to be frozen forever next to the ice peaks.

”Agh... Agh... Agh...” Alexia breathed heavily as she fell to her hands.

In addition to fatigue, a happy smile also grew on her face.

”Huh, now you’ve all seen what I’m capable of!” Alexia exclaimed as she raised her head to look at the result of her single attack.

About a hundred monsters were killed, and the rest were turned into ice statues. Only a small number of monsters were able to completely avoid the effects of her attack, no more than a few dozen.

At the moment of the seal blast, these monsters were at the edge of the snow expanse, at the foot of the mountains. So, when the ice peaks began to appear, they managed to escape into the mountains.

However, the few monsters that decided to stay at the foot of the mountains regretted it. The frost turned them into pieces of ice.

Adam gulped.

No matter how much power he used for his abilities and what combination he chose, he would not be able to create something like that.

It was not only the radius of Alexia’s frost blast, but what she achieved with a single ability.

’She solved the problem with just one move,’ he thought, looking to the side.

The white wolves that had been ready to attack him now simply froze in place, a thick layer of ice covering both their eyes and fangs.

’Shit, I need something like that, but how can I get it now?’

Adam turned his gaze to Vaarh, who was hovering above the ground.

’I thought his blood would make me stronger, but I was wrong. What now, Vaarh? What will you do now that you lost your army?’

Vaarh frowned as his gaze turned to the frozen monsters.

He wasn’t going to give up on his plan, and he had a solution. The hard one.
