Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1751: Conversation

”Arrogant prick!” The man, who was the embodiment of the heavens, roared. ”I will—”

”What? Do you want to kill me?” Zhang Fei sneered. ”How many times have you tried to kill me? The result? You fail every time! If you’re not satisfied with that, you can try again, but I will always thwart your plans!”

Long Wuzhao and all the cultivators present could clearly hear Zhang Fei’s loud voice, and they smiled bitterly as they listened to his words. Some of them thought he was being too arrogant, but many of them didn’t dare to think so because he was the only one who could move in the presence of those hidden forces.

”You—”

”Tian.” The man, who was the embodiment of the heavens, fell silent as soon as one of the women among them spokes. ”Zhang Fei may be arrogant, but his words are also true. You have brought down his lightning tribulations countless times, and you even manifested yourself several times to kill him, but you always failed to do so.”

Tian choked on his words and fiercely glared at the smug Zhang Fei. ”Humph! I’ll kill him when he breaks through to the Celestial God Realm in the future!”

The others laughed when they heard that; Tian’s ears and face heated up as he glared at them.

The woman looked at Zhang Fei. ”My name is Ming, and we came to talk to you about this universe.”

”Ming? Fate?” Zhang Fei was a little surprised.

”That’s right.” Ming waved her hand, and hundreds of chains emerged from the bodies of all the cultivators, including those hidden forces.

Long Wuzhao and the others were shocked by the appearance of those chains that bound them; they had never known about them before. However, their gazes were fixed on Zhang Fei and his four clones; those chains did not appear and bind their bodies. ’This? Why aren’t there any chains binding them?’

”As Xin told you before, you are the only living being who is not bound to this universe because you have died and come back to life.”

”Xin?”

”Her,” Ming pointed to Feng Yao.

”Oh? Xin is the core, right?” Ming nodded to Zhang Fei. ”Why did you choose me? You are the hidden forces of this universe, and your strength is unmatched. Even if I use my full strength, I won’t be able to defeat either of you.”

”Humph! You finally realized your weakness!” Tian snorted mockingly.

Zhang Fei narrowed his eyes. ”If you keep acting like that, don’t blame me if I beat you up right here and now!”

”You bastard!” Tian wanted to move, but a young man immediately stopped him. ”What are you doing, Jiang?”

Jiang shook his head slightly. ”We didn’t come here to fight with Zhang Fei, and we need his help to save this universe, so you should hold back your anger. Otherwise, this universe will be destroyed, and all its inhabitants will be wiped out, including us.”

’Saving the universe? Is there something going on without us knowing?’ The cultivators below pondered their thoughts.

Unlike them, Zhang Fei wasn’t confused by this, as he had already heard several things from the two spirits of the Giant Yin-Yang Lotus. They told him that the universe was facing great danger, and the past disaster was one of them, which had caused the lotus’s weakening.

”Tch!” Tian gritted his teeth, looking at Zhang Fei hatefully.

Zhang Fei looked at Jiang. ”Are you the Will?”

”That’s right.” Jiang nodded at him. ”However, I am in my weak state because this universe is unstable, and I will disappear if this universe is destroyed.”

”What actually happened? How and when did it start?” Zhang Fei asked.

”Her.” They pointed to Feng Yao, which made Zhang Fei frown. ”As you already know, Xin is the embodiment of the core of this universe. The disaster began with her decision to manifest herself as Shen Yuanzhi, and several other disasters followed that.”

Zhang Fei looked at Feng Yao, surprised to learn that all the disasters had started because of her selfish past decision.

Ming spoke. ”Her decisions threw Yin and Yang in this universe out of balance, and the first disaster struck in the Primordial Realm. The second disaster occurred in the Ancient Realm, and you must have heard about it. Soon, the third disaster will occur in the Paradise Realm, and you should be able to guess the cause.”

”Those shadowy creatures.”

”Yes,” Ming nodded. ”The main creature was born along with this universe, and it was sealed within the core. It was freed after Xin decided to manifest herself, but it never made a move before because it was still too weak at the time. However, it has become increasingly powerful, so it decided to break out and order its subordinates to wreak havoc in this universe, and their main target is you.”

”Why me?”

”Because you are the only living being that is not tied to this universe, Zhang Fei. If the main core manages to find you and take over your body, it will do whatever it wants to destroy this universe.”

Zhang Fei frowned as he looked at Tian. ”So, that’s why that stupid guy has been trying to kill me ever since my cultivation broke through to the Earth Realm?”

”You—”

Ming waved her hand to stop Tian. ”Your lightning tribulation appeared because of all your past actions, and it’s natural that Tian would want to punish you. His actions had nothing to do with the danger, and he was angry because you managed to pass all your lightning tribulations. Even though his actions were childish, you reaped many benefits from them.”

Zhang Fei admitted that his lightning tribulations had indeed provided him with many benefits, and he was impatient to face his next lightning tribulation, but Tian had been holding them off ever since his cultivation broke through to the Celestial King Realm. ”So, what you’re saying is that we have to stop the main creature from destroying this universe, right? Why don’t you guys stop it yourselves?”

”We want to stop it, but we can’t do it.” Zhang Fei frowned. ”As I said before, the main creature was born at the same time as this universe, and we were born after this universe was formed, so it is much stronger than us. The only living creature that can stop the main creature is you, especially since you no longer have any ties to this universe.”

”Why should I bother with the safety of this universe?” Ming and the others’ faces darkened as soon as Zhang Fei asked. ”As you just said, I no longer have any ties to this universe, so I don’t need to bother with its safety. If this universe is destroyed, then so be it. I just need to bring all my acquaintances to my soul world, and they will be safe there.”

”Bastard!” Tian roared.

”You have to be quiet when your parents are talking, you little brat!”

”Hahaha!” Ming burst out laughing as soon as Zhang Fei said that.

Tian’s facial muscles bulged out from under his skin, and he was eager to attack Zhang Fei, but the others immediately stopped him because he would never be able to defeat him.

”Tch!”

Zhang Fei spoke to them again. ”I no longer have any ties to the universe, and I also owe you nothing, so—”

”Her,” Ming pointed at Feng Yao again. ”It’s true that you no longer have any ties to this universe, so you don’t have to be responsible for its safety, but you don’t think about her fate.”

”Hmm?” Zhang Fei raised an eyebrow.

”Do you want to see her die?” Zhang Fei caught the meaning of Ming’s question straight away. ”Even though she has manifested herself and reincarnated countless times, she is still the embodiment of the core of this universe. If the main creature succeeds in destroying this universe, she will also die. You have no responsibility for the safety of this universe, but she is your wife, and you can’t possibly let her die, right?”

Huo Ling’s expression became ugly after hearing that. ”Husband, you can’t let my master die.”

”Have you known about this matter for a long time, Ling’er?”

”I—” Huo Ling stopped and nodded to Zhang Fei. ”Please, husband, you must do something to stop the main creature, or my master will die along with this universe.”

Zhang Fei sighed. ”Do you think I can stop the main creature with my current strength?”

”No,” Huo Ling replied with a shake of her head. ”The main creature is simply too powerful, and the two primordial beasts are no match for it, so you can’t possibly defeat it with your current strength. However, you still have plenty of time in the future, and I believe you will surpass all living creatures in this universe, so I believe you can defeat the main creature.”

Zhang Fei smiled. ”Why do you trust me so much now? Didn’t you always underestimate me before?”

”Can you stop bringing up the past?” Huo Ling pouted. ”I didn’t believe in your abilities in the past, but my opinion about you changed a long time ago. I am your wife, so I believe in you.”

”I’ll teach you a lesson after this.” Huo Ling’s face turned red as she understood the lesson Zhang Fei was going to teach her. He ignored her and looked at those hidden forces. ”I won’t say anything now because my strength isn’t enough to face the main creature, and I even had to escape from its subordinates. However, you’re right that Feng Yao is my wife, and I won’t let her die along with this universe.”

Ming and the others were relieved to hear that. ”If you need any help, just let us know, and we’ll do our best.”
