Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1077: Ice Phoenix Inheritance

”I see.” Zhang Fei [5] nodded in understanding. ”Why didn’t you guys kill Long Zhaihuo at that time? You all should already know that he was afraid of the Golden Crow, and their race also existed in that era. Therefore, you should have been able to kill him at that time, right?”

Feng Shizhu nodded to him. ”We actually could have killed Long Zhaihuo back then, but someone asked us not to.”

”The ten-tailed fox.”

”That’s right.” Feng Shizhu confirmed it immediately. ”Back then, the ten-tailed fox came to see us and showed off his strength, rendering all of us powerless before his immense power. At that time, we didn’t understand why he asked us to spare Long Zhaihuo’s life, but we finally understood that he was preparing the dragon for you, and you have now become the new Calamity Demon Dragon.”

”Why did you choose to tell me about this matter?” Zhang Fei [5] asked in confusion. ”Long Wuzhao didn’t tell me anything about this matter, and he only told me that he couldn’t kill Long Zhaihuo because their strength was equal, and he asked all of you to help him seal the dragon.”

”I don’t know why Long Wuzhao didn’t tell you the truth, but I came here to warn you to control your nature as the Calamity Demon Dragon, especially with the Cursed Demon Hearth inside your body.” Zhang Fei [5] took a deep breath as soon as Feng Shizhu mentioned his heart. ”I once fought with the previous owner of the heart, and I almost died at his hands. Fortunately, Long Wuzhao came to my aid and killed the demon, but a mysterious person stole the heart before he could destroy it. We had been looking for the heart for a long time, but we never succeeded in finding it, and he told me that it had merged with you. Both the dragon’s nature and your heart are evil, and their combination is deadly. If you’re not careful, the dragon’s nature will affect your heart, and you should know the risks.”

Zhang Fei [5] let out a soft sigh. ”So many people have warned me about it, so how could I not know the risks? Even so, you don’t have to worry too much about me; I assure you that I have both of them under control. After all, I have so many people who love me by my side, and I will never let them suffer because of me.”

”I hope you’re right about that.”

Zhang Fei [5] then asked her again. ”So, what’s your other purpose in seeing me? I’m sure you came to see me, not just to warn me about those two, right?”

”Do you want to inherit my phoenix race inheritance stored at the end of this place?” Zhang Fei [5] was surprised to hear that from Feng Shizhu. ”The purpose of these trials is to find the right heir to my phoenix race inheritance, but unfortunately, no human with the ice phoenix bloodline has ever succeeded in passing through them. With all your advantages, I believe you will complete the trials.”

Zhang Fei [5] shook his head in refusal. ”I don’t mean to look down on your ice phoenix race, but I don’t need the inheritance. As you said, I have many advantages in my possession, and I am already completely satisfied with them. Moreover, my big sister won’t fail those trials, so you can wait for her to complete everything, and then you can pass the inheritance on to her.”

”I see.” Feng Shizhu nodded in understanding. ”In that case, I will leave now, and I will wait for you two at the end of this place.”

Zhang Fei [5]’s eyelashes trembled slightly as he returned to his body, but he felt something entering his body, which came from the light blue flame. He immediately absorbed it and circulated it throughout his body, causing him to be enveloped in the light blue flame.

[Ding]

[The host obtained the Icy Cold Flame.]

Unlike him, Zhang Yue seemed to have difficulty doing it, and her body started to freeze because of the chilling aura from the light blue flame. Zhang Fei [5] immediately moved behind his big sister, pressed his palm to her back, and helped her flow the chilling aura throughout her body.

A few hours passed quickly, and Zhang Yue finally passed the third trial with Zhang Fei [5]’s help; otherwise, she would have suffered the same fate as the challengers before her, who froze to death due to the light blue flame.

Zhang Yue opened her eyes and breathed a sigh of relief. She turned to face Zhang Fei [5] and wanted to kiss him, but she immediately remembered that he was only a clone, so she held back her excitement. ”Thank you, Fei’er.”

”What are you thanking me for?” Zhang Fei [5] immediately pulled Zhang Yue to her feet and led her away to the next trial. ”There are only two trials left, so we should go now. However, you should prepare yourself for the last trial because it will be the hardest, and I might not be able to help you pass it. Therefore, you must prepare to face the last trial on your own, and if you succeed, you might receive something extraordinary.”

”What do you mean by that, Fei’er?”

”You’ll find out later, big sis.”

Sometime later, they arrived at the fourth trial, where they found two light blue lotus platforms. Zhang Fei [5] and Zhang Yue immediately took their respective seats, and they began to meditate there according to Feng Xueying’s previous explanation.

Shortly after they began, the light blue lotus platforms began to glow, and a light blue pillar shot out from both of them, enveloping Zhang Fei [5] and Zhang Yue within and lifting them into midair.

After that, snowflakes appeared from above, raining down on Zhang Fei [5] and Zhang Yue. Unlike previous trials, they didn’t feel the slightest cold, but they could sense that something was entering their bodies and souls. Gradually, a light blue symbol appears all over their skin, forming lines that merge with the mark on their forehead.

Zhang Fei [5] and Zhang Yue utilized it to improve their ice element and elemental law, especially since the ice element that appeared within the pillar was extremely pure and strong.

Unlike the third trial, the fourth trial did not last too long. Once the pillar disappeared, Zhang Fei [5] and Zhang Yue returned to the top of the lotus platform, where the symbols that had previously appeared on their bodies vanished on their own.

[Congratulations! The host’s ice element has been upgraded to the advanced stage.]

[Congratulations! The host’s ice elemental law has been upgraded to the half-perfection stage.]

Not only Zhang Fei [5], but Zhang Yue also experienced significant improvements in her ice element and elemental laws. Both of them immediately opened their eyes and smiled with satisfaction. ”Only the final trial remains, Fei’er.”

”Yeah.” Zhang Fei [5] immediately jumped down from the platform, followed by Zhang Yue. The two of them rushed to the final trial, which would awaken the ice phoenix within their bodies.

When they arrived there, Feng Shizhu was already waiting for them, and she gestured for Zhang Yue to sit in front of her. ”I’ll start with you first, little girl.”

Zhang Yue turned to Zhang Fei [5], who smiled at her and pushed her forward. She immediately sat cross-legged in front of Feng Shizhu and closed her eyes. ”I’m ready, Senior.”

”Calm your mind and accept everything.” Feng Shizhu shot a blood clot at Zhang Yue, causing her body to gradually freeze as soon as it entered. The female phoenix waved her hand, and an extremely cold aura descended from above, enveloping her and baptizing her.

Zhang Fei [5] frowned when Feng Shizhu took out a huge pale skeleton and a soul. ”Who was the previous owner of the soul and skeleton?”

”The first ice phoenix born in this universe.” Zhang Fei [5] was completely shocked to hear that from Feng Shizhu.

Zhang Fei himself had met the soul of the first fire phoenix, who gave his inheritance to Zhang Lingxue. However, he did not expect that the first ice phoenix left not only her soul but also her skeleton. Even so, her soul appeared different from the first fire phoenix’s soul, especially since it did not possess consciousness. ”Why don’t you inherit both of them yourself?”

”No.” Feng Shizhu shook her head in response. ”I am an ice phoenix myself, so I don’t need my ancestor’s skeleton. As for her soul, she divided it into four parts in the past, and I have already inherited one of them. Apart from me, Feng Xueying and Feng Jinqiu have already inherited two of them, and the last one is prepared for the person who passed the previous four trials. Since you don’t want to inherit either of them, I will give them to this little girl, and she will transform into a true ice phoenix after this.”

”Oh?” Zhang Fei [5] was surprised. ”Can you really turn my big sister into the true ice phoenix?”

”Just wait and see the results later.” After saying that, Feng Shizhu enveloped the skeleton and the soul with her aura before sending both into Zhang Yue’s body, surprising Zhang Fei [5] again as soon as the two entered her body. ”Fortunately, your big sister had already obtained another complete phoenix soul before, and your Yang Qi also strengthened her body. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been able to accept the skeleton, and it would have rejected her.”

”Where did you get such a method?” Zhang Fei [5] curiously asked.
