Chapter 547: Chapter 547 The First Family of Alchemy Dao

Jing Yan had a thought.

Number 143? Wasn’t that a Pill Master from the Fang Family?

Jing Yan looked toward that Fang Family Pill Master, and indeed saw a faint smile on his face. It seemed this score was indeed quite good.

”Brother Fang, congratulations!”

”Congratulations, congratulations, 740 points, you must be firmly in the top ten, right?”

”Pill Masters from an Alchemy Dao Family are truly formidable!”

Compliments came one after another.

”Thank you all!” The Fang Family Pill Master bowed to the crowd around him.

”I refined five Fire Burning Pills and five Three-Complete Pills. I am quite satisfied with this result,” the Fang Family Pill Master said with quite a bit of pride.

”Brother Fang is indeed brilliant. I only managed to refine five Fire Burning Pills and four Three-Complete Pills, and I’m content if I pass 600 points,” a relatively younger Pill Master chimed in.

”I am even further behind Brother Fang. I only managed to refine four Fire Burning Pills and four Three-Complete Pills!” Alchemist Rong Jie shook his head as if lamenting his poor performance. But in his eyes, there was a clear hint of pride.

It was apparent that the achievement of four Fire Burning Pills and four Three-Complete Pills was also considered very good.

”Alchemist Qiu Fang, what exactly does this score mean? What’s the perfect score?” Jing Yan asked Qiu Fang beside him.

”Scores?”

”Oh, it’s like this. Scores are determined based on the quantity and grade of the Elixirs. Each Elixir has a perfect score of one hundred points. For instance, a Fire Burning Pill, if it’s of first-class quality, then it scores ten points. Alchemist Jing Yan, you refined seven Fire Burning Pills and eight Three-Complete Pills, if they are all of first-class quality, then they would total up to fifteen hundred points.”

”Theoretically, at this stage, the perfect score is eighteen hundred points, which is by refining nine Fire Burning Pills and nine Three-Complete Pills. However, no one can achieve that, not even Donghe Great Pill King,” Qiu Fang explained to Jing Yan.

”Oh, I understand now!” Jing Yan nodded.

Just now a Pill Master said, the Fang Family Pill Master’s score of 740 points should get him into the top ten.

And my own score...

Although Jing Yan hadn’t checked the grade of his Fire Burning Pills and Three-Complete Pills, he had a rough idea and believed that it should be very easy to surpass a thousand points.

Jing Yan looked at the Fang Family Pill Master again, wondering if this jerk would feel ashamed when he heard his own score surpassing a thousand points.

”Pill Master number 350, 320 points!”

”Pill Master number 92, 250 points!”

The white-robed elder kept announcing the scores of the Pill Masters. However, it wasn’t consecutive, as the judges’ scoring and the elder’s announcements were happening in real time. The judges would score the Elixirs refined by the Pill Masters, and the elder would immediately announce a score.

And this process of scoring was handled by ten judges collectively for each Pill Master’s Elixirs, so it was relatively slow. The Elixirs refined by one hundred and one Pill Masters were scored one by one.

”Pill Master number 56, 590 points!” the white-robed elder announced another score.

Hearing this score, Rong Jie’s face slightly changed. Number 56 was himself.

”Alchemist Rong Jie, congratulations! With this score, there’s a great possibility of making it into the top twenty. Alchemist Rong Jie, you are about to ascend to the Pill King’s List of new talents!” another Pill Master from Pill Country, who knew Rong Jie, said with a smile.

”It’s hard to say, it’s quite challenging! 590 points, it all depends on luck,” Rong Jie said, shaking his head.

According to past experiences, 590 points was indeed a watershed. With good luck, one could make it into the top twenty; with bad luck, one might get eliminated.

Scores were announced one after another. Some were joyful; others were visibly disappointed. Especially those Pill Masters who scored in the two or three hundreds, or the three or four hundreds, they nearly had no hope at all, and their expressions were quite sour.

”Pill Master number 73, 500 points!”

Number 73 was Qiu Fang.

Hearing the score, Qiu Fang let out a sigh.

He knew this score wasn’t likely to get him into the top twenty. However, a score of 500 points was satisfying for him, at least it wasn’t too embarrassing. To note, he was still only a fifth-level alchemist and hadn’t advanced to a sixth-level yet. If he had been a sixth-level alchemist, then scoring six or seven hundred points and making it into the top twenty would have been likely.

At barely over fifty years of age, Qiu Fang was much younger than many of the Pill Masters present. If the Alchemy competition had been delayed by another decade or two, then participating in it might have allowed him to reach the new talents on the Pill King List.

But such is the way of the world; often there is no fairness in timing, and it could only be said that his luck wasn’t very good; he hadn’t arrived at the best time.

”Alchemist Qiu Fang, that’s a pretty good result,” Jing Yan said with a smile, consoling Qiu Fang.

”Alchemist Jing Yan, I’m not really disappointed. Honestly, if it wasn’t for Alchemist Jing Yan guiding me in the Alchemy Dao for two months, improving my skills significantly, I wouldn’t have scored five hundred points; at most around four hundred. To achieve five hundred points, I’m already very satisfied,” Qiu Fang also said with a smile to Jing Yan.

”Hmm,” Jing Yan also saw that Qiu Fang was sincere.

On the Highest Staircase Square.

”This is quite good!”

”Indeed, this Pill Master is impressive. Tsk, tsk, this Jade Box actually contains seven Fire Burning Pills!”

”Quick, see which number this Pill Master is.”

”Let me check. Hmm? Pill Master number 178? Is it Alchemist Wan Lai?”

”It is Wan Lai! True to the Wan Family’s prodigious Pill Master, he managed to refine seven Fire Burning Pills in one go. Oh, Alchemist Wan Li, you should take a look first, Wan Lai is your Wan Family’s Alchemy Dao prodigy!”

One of the judges, smiling, said to the only female judge amongst them.

This female judge, named Wan Li, was indeed a member of the Alchemy Dao Family, the Wan Family.

The Wan Family, recognized by Pill Masters across the continent as the number one Alchemy Dao Family, had several eighth-level alchemists. Other Alchemy Dao Families, compared to the Wan Family, were still a notch below. The Wan Family was also an incredibly ancient family, rumored to have produced many Great Pill Kings in its early days.

”Then, I’ll take a look at the grade of the Elixirs refined by Wan Lai,” Wan Li nodded softly.

Her demeanor showed that she was in a very good mood. With Wan Lai’s outstanding performance, she was quite proud.

Refining seven Fire Burning Pills in one go, this result should be the best in this Alchemy competition, right?

”Five of first-class quality, two of second-class quality!” Wan Li quickly identified the quality of the Elixirs, ”Everyone, take a look too!”

The other judges also came forward and confirmed the Elixirs. As Wan Li had said, they were indeed five of first-class quality and two of second-class quality.

”Now let’s look at the second Jade Box of Three-Complete Pills!”

The judges opened the second Jade Box belonging to Wan Lai.
