The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 546: Chapter 546 Scoring

In this Alchemy Grand Ceremony, out of the ten judges, there was only one woman.

Upon hearing the female judge’s comment, the other judges nodded in agreement.

Competing in alchemy wasn’t just about speed, it also depended on the quantity and quality of the elixirs. As long as the quantity and quality were outstanding, even if the speed was a bit slower, it wouldn’t be a problem.

Afterward, although people occasionally discussed Alchemist Jing Yan’s alchemy speed, they were clearly not as shocked as before.

Three hours was a very short time, especially for the Pill Masters in the midst of alchemy.

The vast majority of the one hundred and one Pill Masters had already finished refining the Fire Burning Pills and the Three-Complete Pills. When time was up, the old man in the white robe announced that all Pill Masters should stop their actions, and the very few who had not yet succeeded in refining the Three-Complete Pills had to reluctantly cease their efforts.

The staff began to collect the two jade boxes in front of each Pill Master.

Stacking the two jade boxes on top of each other, they placed the Pill Masters’ corresponding number plates into the top box.

All the jade boxes were quickly taken to the Highest Staircase Square and neatly arranged in front of the ten judges.

The old man in the white robe asked the Pill Masters to rest and wait for the judges to score the elixirs.

”Alchemist Jing Yan, there’s no way I’m entering the top twenty now. Alchemist Jing Yan, you shouldn’t have any problems getting into the top twenty, right?” Qiu Fang approached Jing Yan.

Being only a fifth-level Pill Master, he was quite clear about his abilities. He knew he stood no chance of making it into the top twenty. Once the results were announced, he would be eliminated.

However, advancing to the third challenge was quite satisfying for Qiu Fang.

Hearing Qiu Fang’s words, Jing Yan smiled and nodded. He had given Qiu Fang a lot of advice on the Alchemy Dao, and he knew Qiu Fang’s abilities well; unless something unexpected happened, it indeed was unlikely for Qiu Fang to rank within the top twenty.

”Alchemist Jing Yan, how many Fire Burning Pills and Three-Complete Pills did you refine?” Qiu Fang asked eagerly, curious in his heart.

That day, when he competed with Jing Yan in refining the Zhu Ying Pills, Jing Yan produced seven first-class Zhu Ying Pills in one batch, which shocked him profoundly. Thus, he believed that Jing Yan’s quantity of Fire Burning Pills and Three-Complete Pills would certainly not be lacking, and their quality wouldn’t be bad either.

”Seven Fire Burning Pills, eight Three-Complete Pills,” responded Jing Yan.

There was no need to hide this, as the results after the judges’ scoring would soon become known to everyone present.

Though he was mentally prepared, Qiu Fang still inhaled sharply when Jing Yan disclosed the results.

He didn’t know that Jing Yan had finished alchemy in just half an hour; otherwise, he might have fainted from shock. Somewhat incredulous, yet Qiu Fang trusted Jing Yan’s words without any doubt.

”Alchemist Jing Yan making it into the top twenty is certain,” Qiu Fang said sincerely, congratulating Jing Yan after coming back to his senses.

”Big talker!”

At that moment, a nearby Pill Master glared at Jing Yan and spoke with disdain.

Although not naming anyone explicitly, it was clear he was referring to Jing Yan.

Jing Yan frowned and glanced at the man.

”Kid, don’t think you’re so amazing just because you performed well in the first and second challenges. Alchemy isn’t as simple as you think,” the man sneered, catching Jing Yan’s gaze and adding another comment.

”Do I know you?” Jing Yan’s mouth formed a slight smile, and his eyes narrowed.

”You don’t know me?” The man seemed extremely surprised.

”Indeed, I don’t. Who might you be, sir?” Jing Yan asked with a curl of his lip.

”Hmph! I’m a Pill Master from the Fang Family. The Alchemy Dao Family Fang Family, you’ve heard of them, right?” the man said arrogantly, looking down on Jing Yan.

”The Fang Family?” Jing Yan nodded lightly.

He was aware of the Fang Family on the Heavenly Origin Continent, as Zhou Shangyun had mentioned them to him. A Pill Master representing the Fang Family in the Alchemy Grand Ceremony must possess considerable skills. However, what of it?

The Fang Family was indeed strong in the Alchemy Dao. Among the ten judges, there was one from the Fang Family.

”Right! The Fang Family! Kid, did you just say you refined seven Fire Burning Pills and eight Three-Complete Pills?” the Fang Family Alchemist’s eyes sparkled.

His voice was far from quiet.

The Pill Masters on the Fourth Tier Square all turned their attention to Jing Yan and the Fang Family Alchemist, and some even directly crowded around.

”Brother Fang, what did you just say? Who refined seven Fire Burning Pills and eight Three-Complete Pills?” a Pill Master asked with a curious tone filled with jest.

”That’s him!”

”Number sixty-six! The guy who got full marks in the first and second challenges,” said the Fang Family Alchemist, pointing at Jing Yan.

”Ha ha, is this kid joking?”

”Seven Fire Burning Pills and eight Three-Complete Pills? Why didn’t he say he refined nine of each?” another person said laughingly.

A single batch of elixirs could theoretically produce up to nine pills. However, that was only in theory. No one on the Continent had ever claimed to have produced nine pills in a single batch.

Seven or eight pills per batch could occasionally be achieved by a few Pill Masters with extremely strong abilities.

But the problem was, all the Pill Masters present were fifth or sixth level, and time was limited. Refining seven or eight pills in one batch was simply wishful thinking.

”You guys don’t know, this kid is very arrogant. Earlier when I greeted him, he simply ignored me as if he was something special,” said Rong Jie from the Golden Sparrow Commerce, inciting the crowd.

He had long taken a disliking to Jing Yan.

Jing Yan’s gaze swept across the surrounding Pill Masters, and a cold smile appeared on the corner of his mouth.

”You don’t need to be anxious, the results will come out soon, and then everyone will know. As for this Alchemist Rong Jie, are we that close? Do I have to respond every time you greet me?” Jing Yan looked at Rong Jie and said coldly.

”You...”

”Young man, don’t be too arrogant!” Rong Jie’s face turned red, glaring at Jing Yan and angrily retorted.

He was after all quite a well-known young Pill Master; Jing Yan’s words were as good as not taking him seriously. That disregard deeply hurt his pride.

...

”Number one hundred forty-three, seven hundred and forty points!”

Just then, the old man in the white robe began announcing the scores obtained by the Pill Masters.

The Pill Masters on the Fourth Tier Square suddenly quieted down, their gazes turning to the Highest Staircase Square.

”Seven hundred and forty points?” Jing Yan was momentarily stunned.

”Such a high score?” Not fully understanding the specific rules, what Jing Yan knew was that the previous two challenges had a perfect score of one hundred points. But now, in the alchemy competition, he heard a whopping seven hundred and forty points. Could it be that a perfect score in alchemy was a thousand points? If so, then seven hundred and forty points were obviously a very high score.
