Chapter 544: Chapter 544 Alchemy Speed

If Jing Yan were just an ordinary alchemist who had advanced to the third round, then his use of the Pill Spirit City’s provided Pill Furnace might have sparked some discussion, but it certainly wouldn’t have caused the uproar it did now.

Now, everyone was speculating about Jing Yan’s background. Many believed he had an extremely powerful master, possibly the Pill King. So with such a background, how could he not have his own exclusive Pill Furnace?

Or perhaps, did he feel that he didn’t need to use an exclusive Pill Furnace, and that he could sweep away other alchemists using only the furnaces provided by Pill Country?

The murmur of discussion spread like a tidal wave across the lowest staircase square.

Even the big shots at the top-tier staircase square were filled with curiosity as they watched Jing Yan, their whispers passing among them.

At this moment, the elderly man in a white robe at the front spoke again.

”Pill Masters, in the third round of the Alchemy Grand Ceremony, you need to compete based on your individual alchemy abilities. Let me explain the specific rules.”

”This third round will have two stages. In the first stage, the top twenty will be decided among you. The second stage will then determine a more accurate ranking of these top twenty.”

”Now, all of you alchemists will have to refine one furnace of Fire Burning Pills and one furnace of Three-Complete Pills.”

”The time for alchemy is three two-hour periods!”

”The judges will score you based on the grade and quantity of Elixirs you produce to determine the top twenty alchemists.”

”Time starts now!” the elder in the white robe waved his arm.

Staff members quickly distributed batches of ingredients to each of the 101 alchemists.

Fire Burning Pills were Fourth-level Elixirs, while Three-Complete Pills were Fifth-level. These two types of Elixirs were not rare, and any Fifth Rank Pill Master should, in general, be capable of refining them. Not to mention that the alchemists now standing at the Fourth Tier Square were all exceptional Intermediate Alchemists, so refining these two Elixirs should pose no issue.

The key was the grade and quantity of the Elixirs produced.

The 101 alchemists quickly focused, taking out their exclusive Pill Furnaces and centering their minds.

With only three two-hour periods for alchemy, they certainly did not dare to waste even a moment.

”I have refined both Fire Burning Pills and Three-Complete Pills many times. Refining these two types of Elixirs is not difficult; producing seven or eight pills per furnace is quite easy. Moreover, refining both furnaces of Elixirs doesn’t even take two hours.”

”So... should I try to refine Elixirs of perfect quality?”

Jing Yan did not rush to start his alchemy; he was considering.

Although both Fire Burning Pills and Three-Complete Pills were relatively simple, refining them to perfect quality was not an easy task for Jing Yan. Over the past few years, Jing Yan had refined a vast number of Elixirs, but only occasionally did he produce ones of perfect quality.

Refining perfect quality Elixirs required immense focus and was extremely draining. Of course, even with such effort, perfect Elixirs were not guaranteed.

Entering the top twenty shouldn’t be an issue for Jing Yan. So, would it be an ill-advised loss if he expended considerable effort in this first stage?

”Forget it, let nature take its course! I’ll just casually refine these two furnaces of Elixirs. Vying for the first place is my goal.” Finally, Jing Yan shook his head.

Jing Yan began refining the Fire Burning Pills.

When the people at the Highest Staircase Square saw Jing Yan’s actions, many furrowed their brows.

Clearly, Jing Yan was too casual. Various Spirit Grasses were successively added to the Pill Furnace, which was not an issue in itself, but Jing Yan’s motions were akin to haphazardly piling up the Spirit Grass.

How could alchemy be done like this?

Chang Huan also frowned deeply.

”City Lord, look at that number sixty-six alchemist, Jing Yan. Is he actually doing alchemy? With his approach, can he successfully refine anything?” Chang Huan, with furrowed brows, asked Hu Donghe who sat next to him.

Hu Donghe’s expression was somewhat strange as well.

”The technique of Alchemist Jing Yan is indeed very unique!” Hu Donghe didn’t know what else to say.

”It seems like it will be difficult for him to enter the top twenty. With such casualness, even if he can refine successfully, the grade and quantity of his Elixirs probably won’t be too optimistic.” Chang Huan shook his head.

”It’s still too early to say that, we need to see the Elixirs he produces,” Hu Donghe said gravely.

”That’s true!” Chang Huan nodded.

...

”President, look at what Jing Yan is doing!” a council member of the Golden Sparrow Commerce exclaimed, eyes widening as if he had discovered a new continent.

Actually, Bai Lan had been watching Jing Yan’s actions all along.

As soon as that council member spoke, Bai Lan smiled.

”Ladies and gentlemen!” Bai Lan gestured respectfully to the people around.

Many martial artists had gathered around because a lot of them had come to greet Qing Ru, packing the area. As Bai Lan spoke, everyone turned to him.

”I just said that the too-young Alchemist Jing Yan, representing Youhai Commerce, value in alchemy might be lacking. Now, looking at the actions of Alchemist Jing Yan, it clearly proves that I was not wrong,” Bai Lan said with a smile, his eyes gleaming with a smug look.

”No matter whether he has a Pill King as a master, alchemy truly isn’t something that can be perfected in a short time. I think, Alchemist Jing Yan might fail to refine. After all, he’s too young. He might have high talent, but even the best talent requires time to mature,” Bai Lan continued.

”President Bai Lan, it seems you’ve not considered your words carefully. The third round of alchemy hasn’t finished yet, and no one can be certain of Alchemist Jing Yan’s inability. Can I assume that you are disparaging both Alchemist Jing Yan and Youhai Commerce?” Qing Ru could no longer remain silent, her brows slightly furrowing as she questioned Bai Lan.

Allowing Bai Lan to continue could definitely impact the reputation of Youhai Commerce.

”President Qing Ru, I’m merely stating a fact.” Bai Lan, seeing Qing Ru’s response, far from getting annoyed, grew even more excited.

Clearly, this was a great opportunity for the Golden Sparrow Commerce to enhance its reputation.

”President Bai Lan, you’ve already speculated about Alchemist Jing Yan several times, and you’ve been wrong each time. If I were you, I would certainly shut my mouth now and not be too eager to spout nonsense,” Zhou Shangyun could no longer hold back. Although he wasn’t affiliated with Youhai Commerce and didn’t initially wish to get involved in the subtle conflicts between several commerce guilds, Bai Lan was being too much.

”Heh, let’s wait and see!” Bai Lan glanced at the Fourth Tier Square.

He noticed that Jing Yan already loaded all the necessary Spirit Grass for the first furnace of Fire Burning Pills into the Pill Furnace and was overjoyed because the other alchemists still had more than half their Fire Burning Pill Spirit Grass in front of them. Jing Yan’s actions were too swift; his way of refining Elixirs was bound not to yield good results.
