The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 533: Chapter 533: His name is Jing Yan!

On the Highest Staircase Square, these influential figures clearly didn’t recognize Jing Yan. They were all guessing his identity aloud, but it was undoubtedly in vain.

Jing Yan had answered perfectly in the first challenge of Medicine Identification, leaving them unrested—they all wanted to find out where this anomaly had come from.

However, Jing Yan’s information should be revealed soon! They only needed to wait a moment.

After Jing Yan leaped up to the third-tier square, the work of the white-robed elder continued.

”How can this be? He actually passed the first challenge?” President Bai Lan from Golden Sparrow Commerce could no longer sit still. The words he had said earlier were too confident; now he was somewhat unable to step down.

The other directors of Golden Sparrow Commerce also looked upset.

At this time, Bai Lan noticed the other presidents looking at him differently.

It seemed like they were mocking him. Just now, he had confidently stated that Jing Yan was an unknown alchemist and couldn’t possibly pass the first challenge of the Alchemy Conference. Yet now, Jing Yan had ascended to the third tier, clearly having advanced.

Bai Lan couldn’t help but regret saying so much in front of everyone. Mainly because he had always been quite displeased with Jing Yan, so he always wanted to seize opportunities to mock him. However, his main target was supposed to be President Qing Ru from Youhai Commerce.

Qing Ru was a very astute woman, controlling Youhai Commerce, and she had the ability to compete with their old-established commerce. Therefore, he seized the opportunity, hoping to put Qing Ru, this rising star, in her place and hopefully shake her confidence.

Yet unexpectedly, Jing Yan proved to be competent, managing to pass the first challenge smoothly. Passing the first challenge significantly boosted his reputation; the word ”Youhai” on the chest of Jing Yan also drew more attention.

”President Bai Lan, it seems there was reason behind Alchemist Jing Yan’s refusal of your offer of a hundred thousand Spirit Stones,” Qing Ru said with a smile as she looked towards Bai Lan.

Many of the people around also started to chuckle.

Just now, Bai Lan himself had said that he planned to offer Jing Yan a hundred thousand Spirit Stones to endorse Golden Sparrow Commerce, but Jing Yan had refused, unaware of what was good for him. If Jing Yan had been eliminated in the first challenge, then naturally no one would have mentioned this. But now that Jing Yan had advanced to the second challenge, those hundred thousand Spirit Stones clearly did not match Jing Yan’s status.

To advance to the second challenge, one typically needed the strength of a Fifth Rank Alchemist. A Fourth Rank Alchemist hoping to advance could only rely on tremendous luck.

Among the four hundred alchemists who had advanced to the second challenge, those who were Fourth Rank Alchemists definitely made up less than a tenth of the total.

Paying a hundred thousand Spirit Stones to employ a Fifth Rank Alchemist under the age of one hundred for endorsements was indeed laughable. By doing so, Golden Sparrow Commerce was practically insulting Alchemist Jing Yan. It’s no wonder he left outright.

Bai Lan’s face immediately turned red-hot.

He snorted lightly, ”So what if he’s advanced to the second challenge?”

”He’s just an alchemist in his twenties; I don’t believe he can advance to the third challenge. He might have identified many Spirit Grasses because he’s seen a wide variety or because his luck is extremely good. The Spirit Grasses that needed identification in the first challenge of this Alchemy Conference might just happen to be ones he has seen or heard of,” Bai Lan argued darkly, trying to salvage some face for himself.

Though his words were somewhat forced, they seemed somewhat reasonable to the others.

Firstly, Jing Yan was just an alchemist from Lanqu County City. Secondly, Jing Yan was too young; being a Fifth Rank Alchemist in his twenties was extremely rare in Pill Country.

If it was as Bai Lan said, Jing Yan would definitely show his true colors in the second challenge. Because the second challenge involved Identifying Pills, and that was much harder than Medicine Identification. During Medicine Identification, even if it’s a rare Spirit Grass, as long as you have seen it once by chance, you could generally identify it. But Identifying Pills was much more difficult because there are many types of Elixirs, and their appearances are not very distinct.

Though there are differences in size and color, there are simply too many types of Elixirs. Any color of Elixir has a vast number of variants. To merely identify an Elixir by appearance is impossible.

The difficulty of Identifying Pills is much greater than that of Medicine Identification.

Given that the difficulty of Medicine Identification in this Alchemy Conference was already high, Identifying Pills definitely wouldn’t be easy.

With Bai Lan’s comments, Qing Ru softly chuckled without further entanglement and once again looked upwards.

Meanwhile, on the Highest Staircase Square, the white-robed elder had gradually called out the numbers corresponding to the four hundred and three alchemists who advanced to the second challenge. As there were several alchemists around the four hundred mark with the same score, the number of advancing alchemists was four hundred and three instead of exactly four hundred.

That didn’t make much of a difference!

Just as Jing Yan had predicted, Alchemist Qiu Fang also advanced smoothly to the second challenge. Including Jing Yan, there were six alchemists representing Youhai Commerce, and three of them had advanced. Out of the six, three were eliminated in the first challenge. However, having three alchemists advance to the second challenge was commendable nonetheless.

After Qiu Fang and another female alchemist arrived on the third-tier square, they stood next to Jing Yan. The three wore similar attire, with the word ”Youhai” on their chests, which was quite noticeable.

Jing Yan noticed that among the nine alchemists representing Golden Sparrow Commerce in the Alchemy Conference, five had advanced to the second challenge. Leading them was Rong Jie, a Sixth-level Alchemist, who stood there arrogantly.

At this moment, standing on this third-tier square, the number of Sixth-level Alchemists was not very many. Jing Yan wasn’t sure exactly how many there were, but he guessed it was slightly more than a tenth at most.

Among them, some were alchemists from Pill Country, and some were descendants from Alchemy Dao Families. Loose alchemists like Jing Yan, if any, probably weren’t numerous, and there might even be none other than Jing Yan himself.

”Congratulations on advancing to the second challenge of this Alchemy Conference. In this challenge, you will conduct Pill Identification. Among you four hundred and three alchemists, one hundred will advance to the third challenge of Alchemy. Please prepare now, as the Pill Identification of the second challenge will officially begin after a short tea time,” the white-robed elder announced loudly.

On the Highest Staircase Square, after the white-robed elder finished speaking, he retreated some distance!

”Brother Yang, what’s the name of that number sixty-six?” judge Sun Qi asked, looking towards the white-robed elder.

As Jing Yan leapt from the second-tier square to the third-tier, his information was also revealed.

When exchanging his number plate, Jing Yan’s personal information had already been known by the organizers of the Pill Spirit Conference. Therefore, the organizers quickly checked Jing Yan’s information.

”Number sixty-six, the alchemist’s name is Jing Yan, from Lanqu County City, aged twenty-three!” the white-robed elder immediately replied.
