The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 535: Chapter 535 Blind Guess

During the medicine identification stage, reaching the sixth question, many competing Pill Masters began to show signs of anxiety.

Racking their brains, they dared not confirm what this sixth elixir was, let alone write down the types of materials needed for its refinement.

Scratching their heads in frustration, once the time for this session ended, they could only watch helplessly as the answer sheets in front of them were collected. A few people, seeing that time was up, randomly wrote down a name. Many remembered several types of elixirs similar to this sixth one, and a random guess might just hit the mark.

If a blind cat ran into a dead mouse and got it right, they could still score some points.

Next, the white-robed elder brought out the seventh type of elixir, a crimson pill that emanated energy fluctuations from afar. This elixir was also a fifth-level elixir.

”I wonder how Jing Yan is doing in the second round!” Chang Huan had been paying attention to Jing Yan.

He was a Special Envoy from the Holy City, but why did the Holy Master send him? The purpose was to see if, in the past century, any Alchemy Dao talent had emerged on the Continent, or how many had emerged.

Pill Masters who performed outstandingly in the Alchemy Grand Ceremony would definitely have their names reported to the Holy City and reach the ears of the Holy Master.

”Hehe... we will know soon. Jing Yan performed so excellently in the first round; his results in the second round should not be poor either. I’m quite looking forward to seeing how he performs in the third round,” Hu Donghe said with a smile.

Jing Yan was too young.

If Jing Yan had an extremely powerful master, then it was normal for him to recognize many rare elixirs and Spirit Grasses, having seen many. However, the most important aspect in Alchemy Dao is alchemy itself, where a Pill Master’s true ability is demonstrated, not in identifying elixirs and Spirit Grass.

Even some Martial Artists who are not Pill Masters might recognize many Spirit Grasses and elixirs.

But alchemy, that is the most difficult part. In alchemy, you cannot take shortcuts or achieve quick success. Jing Yan was too young, and even if he had started learning alchemy from birth, it had only been about twenty years. How much could he have achieved in alchemy during this time?

That is why Hu Donghe said so.

If Jing Yan was also outstanding in alchemy, then he would truly be an Alchemy Dao prodigy. After this Alchemy Conference, Jing Yan’s name might spread throughout the entire Heavenly Origin Continent, making countless Martial Artists aware of him.

Ten judges were also quietly discussing the Pill Masters who performed outstandingly in the first round of this Alchemy Grand Ceremony, amongst whom Jing Yan’s name was mentioned frequently.

Some believed that Jing Yan might fail in the second round.

Identifying pills was not the same as identifying medicine. Without a certain foundation, it was very hard to pass the second round.

Out of the 403 Pill Masters participating in the second round, only one hundred could advance, which was no easy feat.

After the identification of the seventh elixir ended, the eighth and ninth elixirs followed. Both were sixth-level elixirs, one relatively common and the other extremely rare, so rare that even many high-level alchemists might have never seen it.

”This elixir, out of these 400 Pill Masters, probably less than ten can identify it!” Chang Huan said to Hu Donghe.

Hu Donghe nodded upon hearing this.

Chang Huan was right; this ninth elixir was one that very few Pill Masters on the entire Continent could refine. And this particular elixir was personally refined by Hu Donghe himself.

Even the judges in the Highest Staircase Square could probably not refine it. It wasn’t that their abilities were lacking, but the materials required for this elixir were too rare nowadays on the Continent. Most importantly, none of them knew the formula for this elixir.

Although Hu Donghe had many disciples, when it came to special elixirs, he did not teach all of them to his disciples. This point couldn’t really be blamed for his keeping secrets. Any Pill Master would not teach everything to their disciples, always keeping some skills in reserve as a trump card.

Seeing the ninth elixir, the Pill Masters simply gave up, not even bothering to guess, for they had no clues whatsoever.

However, after running the Qian Kun Pill Path for a moment, Jing Yan recognized this elixir and began writing on the paper.

Some noticed Jing Yan’s action, frowning.

”What’s with this kid?”

”Is he writing an answer sheet?”

”Could he recognize this elixir? How is that possible!”

On the entire third-tier square, it seemed that only Jing Yan was writing an answer, naturally attracting the attention of others. The Pill Masters, seeing Jing Yan’s actions, secretly thought in their hearts, finding it incredible.

”Perhaps he’s just taking wild guesses!” Some despised the idea in their minds.

Especially among the top Pill Masters, this idea was even stronger. Since they had never seen this type of elixir, and yet Jing Yan was writing an answer, how could this be possible? If Jing Yan truly knew this elixir, wouldn’t that mean Jing Yan was even stronger than them?

They certainly wouldn’t believe that Jing Yan was stronger in Alchemy Dao than they were.

Of course, if they knew that Jing Yan had scored full marks in the first round, they probably wouldn’t think that way.

”President, look at that Jing Yan. The other Pill Masters haven’t even started writing, but he is already writing. Haha... I wonder what he’s writing,” a director from Golden Sparrow Commerce said with a laugh.

This man was at Golden Sparrow Commerce the day Jing Yan visited, the one who had treated Jing Yan with the worst attitude. He was also a Pill Master and likewise did not recognize this ninth elixir.

”No need to pay attention to him! He might have passed the first round, but he definitely won’t pass the second round,” Bai Lan, the president of the Golden Sparrow Commerce, said somewhat sourly.

To be honest, if he had known earlier that Jing Yan could pass the first round, he definitely wouldn’t have offered only one hundred thousand Spirit Stones as compensation, and his attitude wouldn’t have been so cold. You should know that among the nine Pill Masters representing Golden Sparrow Commerce, only five had advanced to the second round. Having one more person advancing to the second round could significantly boost the prestige of his Golden Sparrow Commerce.

Unfortunately, it was too late now. He surely felt somewhat bitter inside.

If Jing Yan managed to advance to the third round, he would probably regret it to death! Only one hundred Pill Masters could reach the third round, and the attention they received was not ordinary. Those attending the Pill Spirit Conference were no ordinary people; without certain financial strength and influence, they would not qualify to participate in the Pill Spirit Conference. If a few Pill Masters representing his commerce were able to stand on the Fourth Tier Square, it would be a huge boost for advertising his commerce.
