The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 487: Chapter 487: Clowning Around【Four Updates】

Zhou Shangyun’s eyes suddenly gleamed intensely as he surveyed everyone present.

”As the Prince of Lanqu County City, I control this city and am duty-bound to lead its development and growth! As for the Wen Family, which harms the collective, I mean to completely eliminate it. If the flesh is rotten, it must be cut out. Although it will be painful in the short term, we must not compromise for the sake of survival!” Zhou Shangyun’s deep voice resounded decisively.

Being a Prince sometimes means being imperious!

”Prince, do you have evidence that the Dark Night Assassin was hired by the Wen Family?” Lu Family Patriarch asked, frowning.

”If it really was the Dark Night Assassin hired by the Wen Family, then the Lu Family will firmly support any decision made by the Prince. However, we do need solid evidence!” Yuan Family Patriarch also spoke.

”Yes! The Wen Family is a top family within Lanqu County City. Without evidence, it will be difficult to convince others!” Cai Family Patriarch murmured thoughtfully.

The Wen Family was equal to their three great families.

If the Prince could simply annihilate the Wen Family, then he could just as easily destroy their three families as well.

A case of lips and teeth depending on each other—when the lip perishes, the teeth will be cold!

Although the Wen Family competed with the three great families, they wouldn’t want the Prince to just casually destroy it.

Of course, if the Prince was determined to obliterate the Wen Family, their opposition would be futile. Reluctant as they were, they couldn’t contend with the power of the Prince Manor.

It was just like more than a decade ago when the Prince had directly destroyed another great family, the Lu Family; there had been no negotiations, and they could only watch helplessly.

”Evidence?”

”Do you really think that I am merely speculating without evidence that the Dark Night Assassin was hired by the Wen Family?” Zhou Shangyun’s lips curled slightly.

”Of course, we don’t mean that! We just hope that if you, Prince, have evidence, please present it so we can see. If it truly is the doing of the Wen Family, as members of Lanqu County City, we naturally wish to contribute and uphold our city’s justice,” Lu Family Patriarch said softly.

”Prince, to ensure there is no error, I think we should find the Dark Night Assassin who attempted to assassinate Jing Yan and interrogate him to confirm the identity of the employer!” Guan Yue, Dean of Divine Wind Academy, said with a smile.

The position of the Three Major Acadacies in Lanqu County City was higher than that of the Four Great Families. Though not akin to the Prince, the gap was not vast. The Prince could directly target the Four Great Families, but not the Three Major Academies.

These Three Major Academies were not entirely affiliated with Lanqu County City. The voice of the Three Major Academies could reach the Holy City, a scope beyond what local families could compare.

Guan Yue’s suggestion to capture the assassin was clearly a challenge for the Prince.

The Dark Night Organization was no ordinary group.

Ordinary martial artists might not be aware, but the deans of the Three Major Academies and the heads of the great families knew much about Dark Night. In fact, this organization was present not only within the territory of Lanqu County City but also in most commanderies across the entire Heavenly Origin Continent.

It was said that the founder of Dark Night was a member of an ancient family from the Heavenly Origin Continent. The power of this ancient family was immense, easily capable of annihilating the Manor of Lanqu County. This ancient family was such that even the Holy Master of the Holy City could not easily oppose it.

The fact that Mr. Yin of Dark Night knew about Jing Yan and dared to assassinate him was due to the influential support he had behind him. He knew that even if he killed Jing Yan, Prince Zhou Shangyun wouldn’t be able to act against him.

Being the Dean of the Divine Wind Academy, Guan Yue naturally knew about the origins of Dark Night, and his statement was clearly designed to put the Prince in a difficult position.

If you can, then deal with Dark Night! That was Guan Yue’s thought process at that moment.

Zhou Shangyun looked at Guan Yue silently and sneered inwardly.

”Dean Guan Yue!” Zhou Shangyun didn’t respond this time, but Mu Liantian spoke up, ”Your idea is probably unfeasible. The person who attempted to assassinate Jing Yan was Dark Night Ace, Mr. Yin.”

”Chief Mu! Don’t blame me for speaking frankly, but I think this assassin organization, Dark Night, is the real scourge within our region of Lanqu County City. How many exceptionally talented martial artists have been assassinated by Dark Night killers in our area? To my knowledge, more than three Daoist Realm Martial Artists have been killed by this Mr. Yin alone, the actual number is probably even higher. Now, this Mr. Yin has also assassinated Jing Yan, and I believe we must capture this Mr. Yin and put him on trial!” Guan Yue said, grinning at Mu Liantian.

”Yes! We should capture Mr. Yin!”

”Right, capture Dark Night’s Mr. Yin. The Prince should personally interrogate him and force him to reveal the identity of his employer!” Several family patriarchs also supported Guan Yue.

”Mr. Yin probably won’t be able to come because he is already dead. How can a dead man be captured for trial?” Mu Liantian said with a cold laugh.

”Eh?”

”What?”

”Mr. Yin is dead?”

When Mu Liantian spoke these words, those present were all stunned.

Even the leaders of second-tier powers widened their eyes.

Everyone was astonishingly looking towards Prince Zhou Shangyun.

Could it be that the Prince had already acted against Mr. Yin? And had he confirmed from Mr. Yin himself that the employer was the Wen Family?

But how could the Prince dare do such a thing? Was he not afraid of retaliation from the ancient family backing the Dark Night Organization?

Although the Prince was appointed by the Holy Master, with the means of that ancient family, wasn’t it too easy for them to eliminate a Prince of a commandery? Was the Prince truly determined to avenge Jing Yan, even at the risk of offending that ancient family?

For a moment, the atmosphere in the Council Hall turned somewhat eerie.

”If Mr. Yin is dead, wouldn’t this matter now become one without proof?” Xu Dong, Vice President of the Alchemist Association, said at this time.

Xu Dong knew that speaking this way would certainly offend the Prince.

However, even if he remained silent, the Prince would definitely not support him due to Jing Yan’s friendship with Liu Wen—a known fact. Hence, in the matter of selecting a President for the Alchemist Association, there was a ninety percent probability that the Prince would support Liu Wen.

Xu Dong realized one thing: he had to ensure that most of the first-rate powers in Lanqu County City supported him. This might also be his only chance to become the President of the Alchemist Association.

Moreover, the Alchemist Association was a unique entity not directly controlled by the Prince Manor. Specifically, the Alchemist Associations of Lanqu County City, including every commandery on the Heavenly Origin Continent, were led by the Alchemist Association of Pill Country. However, Pill Country would not directly appoint the Presidents of the Alchemist Associations in various commanderies; usually, each commandery would elect its own President.
