The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 477: Chapter 477: Death Notice Chapter 477: Chapter 477: Death Notice Ying Youque and Hu Yang exchanged glances, both seeing the gleeful look in each other’s eyes.

Both men had had conflicts with Jing Yan.

Ying Youque was the Punishment Hall Master.

Originally, because Jing Yan had killed the Inner Court Student Qian Zhen, the Criminal Punishment Hall intended to punish Jing Yan, but due to Vice Chancellor Fang Ruoyu’s protection, the hall was left disgraced, and as the Hall Master, Ying Youque’s reputation was tarnished as well.

Hence, Ying Youque had always harbored resentment towards Jing Yan.

Hu Yang also resented Jing Yan.

At the earlier Dual Peaks Conference, it was only because of Jing Yan’s appearance that the South Peak lost to the North Peak.

Furthermore, Jing Yan had killed an exceptionally talented student from the South Peak.

As the South Peak Master, Hu Yang had naturally lost a great deal of face.

Upon hearing that Jing Yan had been assassinated by Mr.

Yin, the Dark Night Ace, in Haofeng City, both men could hardly contain their joy.

Jing Yan’s Martial Arts Talent was indeed astonishing, and had he lived, he would have eventually brought glory to the Dao Yi Academy.

However, both men had personal vendettas against Jing Yan and wished for his death.

“Master Ying, I suddenly feel refreshed and very happy.

How about we have a drink?” Hu Yang suggested with a smile.

“What Peak Master Hu said is exactly what I’m thinking.

It’s been a long time since I’ve felt this relaxed.

We should indeed celebrate properly.” Ying Youque’s eyebrows fully relaxed as he laughed heartily.

The two immediately brought out precious wines brewed from Spirit Fruits and began drinking heavily.

The news of Jing Yan’s assassination by the Dark Night slowly spread within the Inner Court of Dao Yi Academy.

Above the South Peak—

“Did you hear?

Jing Yan from the North Peak is dead!”

“Jing Yan is dead?

How could that be?”

“It’s true, I heard about it too.

It is said that Jing Yan was assassinated in the eastern city of Haofeng by a Dark Night Assassin.”

“A Dark Night Assassin?

But Jing Yan was no weakling!

At the Dual Peaks Conference, even our South Peak Brother Deng Qing, who was at the Late Dao Spirit Realm, died by his hand.”

“Yes!

I know about Dark Night.

While some of their Gold Medal Assassins are also at the Cultivation of the Dao Spirit Realm, it seems very hard to believe that they could kill Jing Yan.”

“Hehe, you all don’t know!

Jing Yan wasn’t killed by just any Gold Medal Assassin from Dark Night, but by their unique Ace, who personally took him down.

That Ace killer has slain several Daoist Masters.

Although Jing Yan was strong, he was far inferior to the Dark Night Ace!”

“What?

The Dark Night Ace personally took action?”

“Who hired the Ace?

That’s a huge move, hiring an Ace assassin isn’t something that can be done with just a small amount of resources!”

“Hehe!

These things have nothing to do with us.

Jing Yan’s death is actually good for us here at the South Peak.

Otherwise, with Jing Yan at the North Peak, we at the South Peak would have had difficult days ahead.”

“…”

The many students of the South Peak were visibly delighted, utterly enjoying themselves.

Of course, some students felt it was a pity that Jing Yan had been assassinated.

After all, Jing Yan was a Martial Arts Genius seen once every century.

His death was indeed a significant loss for the Dao Yi Academy.

Above the North Peak—

A heavy atmosphere enveloped the entire North Peak.

Many North Peak students gathered together, their expressions somber as they discussed Jing Yan’s assassination.

Just then, Peak Master Zhao Qi returned from the Dao Yi Hall, and the North Peak students quickly surrounded him.

“Peak Master!”

“Greetings, Peak Master!”

“Peak Master, is Jing Yan really dead?”

“Is this news true?

How could Jing Yan be assassinated?

Who hired the Dark Night Ace?” Everyone eagerly asked, their voices overlapping.

Everyone couldn’t believe that Jing Yan had really been killed by a Dark Night Assassin, or rather, they didn’t want to believe that the news was true.

Zhao Qi’s gaze slowly swept across the North Peak students.

“What are you all doing gathering here?” Zhao Qi asked sternly, his face cold.

“Do you have too much time on your hands?

Instead of cultivating, you gather here and gossip?”

“Peak Master!

Many people are saying that our North Peak’s Jing Yan was assassinated by a Dark Night Assassin, but is this news true or false?

If it’s false, then why hasn’t Jing Yan returned to Dao Yi Academy for so long?” A student familiar with Jing Yan, undaunted by Zhao Qi’s scolding, persisted in asking.

“Rumors are not credible!”

“It’s not certain that Jing Yan is dead yet; no one saw him get killed.

Moreover, Jing Yan’s body has not been found,” Zhao Qi said thoughtfully.

“Peak Master, does this mean that the matter of the Dark Night Assassin killing Jing Yan is true?” someone asked.

“Mmm!” Zhao Qi nodded.

The surrounding North Peak students became even more agitated.

Even the Peak Master said that the news of the Dark Night Assassin killing Jing Yan was true.

That meant that Jing Yan really was dead.

If Jing Yan were still alive, the Peak Master wouldn’t have said what he just did but would have told the people that Jing Yan wasn’t dead.

What the Peak Master said about not finding Jing Yan’s body didn’t prove anything.

If the Dark Night Assassin had killed Jing Yan, they would definitely destroy the body and leave no trace.

This was too easy to accomplish; not just Daoist Realm Martial Artists, but even a stronger Postnatal Martial Artist could easily completely destroy a body.

“Peak Master, who hired the Dark Night Assassin to kill Jing Yan, and can it be traced?

Jing Yan was one of the most outstanding students of our Dao Yi Academy, isn’t the academy going to do anything?” someone shouted indignantly.

“Exactly!

We from Dao Yi Academy, we must avenge Jing Yan!”

“Yes!

We must seek revenge.

Peak Master, we can’t just let this matter go.

We need to see the Dean, we need to avenge Jing Yan.” The people of North Peak asserted angrily in low roars.

“Quiet down!”

“Seeking revenge for Jing Yan is not something you should get involved in.

Right now, what you need to do is cultivate and improve your strength.

The Academy has its own plans for Jing Yan’s case,” Zhao Qi raised his voice and rebuked everyone, his face somber.

Seeing that Zhao Qi was truly angry, everyone fell silent, no longer daring to speak.

Manager’s Mansion!

Mu Liantian, expressionless, returned from Dao Yi Academy to his own residence.

“Liantian!” Qi Sirou came up quickly to meet Mu Liantian, her Liu Mei slightly furrowed.

From Mu Liantian’s expression, she could already see the outcome, which was probably not something she wanted to see.

Yet she still asked, “The outcome isn’t good, is it?”

Qi Sirou’s voice was very soft.

Qi Sirou also cared deeply for Jing Yan; if not for him, she might have already been dead.

That she was alive and able to continue practicing Martial Arts was all because of Jing Yan.

So when she heard that Jing Yan had been assassinated by the Dark Night Ace, she had been worried all along.
