The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 483: Chapter 483: First Array Formation [Three More Updates]

However, there really was no other good method!

In the Inner Court, aside from Prince Zhou Shangyun, the only person Jing Yan could meet was Zhou Che. Ordinary guards found it difficult to penetrate the depths of the Inner Court. Even if there were guards in the depths of the Inner Court, Jing Yan did not feel comfortable encountering them.

Mu Liantian could have come over, but since Mu Liantian did not reside within the Prince Manor, he could not stay here all the time.

”Jing Yan, my brother, if you need anything, just say it. Why stand on ceremony with me?” Zhou Che showed no displeasure.

He knew that the Prince had decided to deal with the Wen Family—a great family—just because of Jing Yan. Even the Lanqu Order had been issued; in a few days, some of the most powerful and highest-ranking individuals within Lanqu County City were to gather at the Prince Manor to discuss taking action against the Wen Family.

Moreover, Zhou Che also knew that Jing Yan had, on his own strength, killed Mr. Yin of the Dark Night Ace. This strength was something even he, Zhou Che, could not match; he felt quite honored that Jing Yan would even call him ’brother’. Buying a few things for Jing Yan—what was that in comparison?

Seeing Zhou Che agree readily, Jing Yan didn’t drag things out and directly listed all the items he needed.

Initially, Zhou Che’s face remained expressionless, but as Jing Yan listed the array of items, his expression began to sour.

Although he was not an Array Master, his eye for detail made it clear that the items Jing Yan needed were meant for array setup. Particularly with the Array Plate, as far as he knew, it was used only when setting up Micro Arrays.

”Brother, that’s all.” Jing Yan said after listing hundreds of materials while smiling at Zhou Che.

”Jing Yan, my brother, what do you need these things for? Don’t tell me you’re planning to set up an array? Are you an Array Master?” Zhou Che was genuinely shocked.

Jing Yan was already a Third-level Alchemist, but now he was buying materials for setting up arrays. Not only was his martial arts talent despairing, but he was also a highly gifted alchemist, and now an Array Master too?

”Brother Zhou Che! To tell you the truth, I’ve never set up an array, but I’d like to try it,” Jing Yan said with a scratch of his nose, being honest.

He had indeed never set up an array before.

Even learning about arrays had just occurred recently. If not for having to deal with the Wen Family, Jing Yan might not have even considered learning about arrays.

”Oh, I see! Jing Yan, my brother, don’t blame me for saying too much. You are a martial artist with extraordinary martial arts talent; your main focus should be on martial arts. You’re already learning alchemy, which is quite distracting. Trying array formation might be too taxing, don’t you think?” Zhou Che frowned as he spoke.

He offered this advice with good intentions.

On the Heavenly Origin Continent, the most formidable martial artists rarely also studied Alchemy Dao; it’s not that there were none, just very few. Not to mention studying both Alchemy and Array Dao simultaneously. After all, a person’s energy is limited.

”I understand, I’m just giving it a try. My main focus will still be on martial arts,” Jing Yan knew that Zhou Che meant well, so he showed no displeasure.

”Alright, as long as you’re aware, I won’t say more,” Zhou Che nodded.

”Brother, here is five million Spirit Stones, that should be enough. You can buy some extra Array Plates,” Jing Yan handed over fifty Spirit Stone Gold Cards, each with a denomination of one hundred thousand, to Zhou Che.

Jing Yan could not just set up this one-time Micro Array; in the future, he would have more occasions to use Array Plates, so buying extra was acceptable. Moreover, he had obtained over ten million in liquid Spirit Stones from Mr. Yin, so using five million didn’t pain him.

Zhou Che casually accepted the Spirit Stone Gold Cards.

Had it been a smaller purchase, Zhou Che could have covered the cost with his own Spirit Stones. But Jing Yan needed so many items that, honestly, he could not bring up that much in liquid Spirit Stones all at once.

Then Zhou Che left to buy the large quantity of materials for Jing Yan.

About four hours later, Zhou Che returned. He had purchased all the items Jing Yan needed, and the five million Spirit Stones had been completely spent.

”Thank you so much, brother!” Jing Yan bowed to Zhou Che.

”No big deal! Brother Jing Yan, I’ll leave you be then,” Zhou Che said as he took his leave.

After Zhou Che had left, he immediately went to see Prince Zhou Shangyun.

”Jing Yan is buying materials for array setting?” Prince Zhou Shangyun was also quite surprised upon hearing Zhou Che’s report.

It would be normal for Jing Yan to purchase alchemy materials. Jing Yan was an alchemist, and purchasing materials for alchemy was quite ordinary. But why would Jing Yan buy materials for setting arrays?

”Yes! And he bought materials worth five million Spirit Stones in one go,” Zhou Che said.

”Could this kid Jing Yan also be an Array Master?” Prince Zhou Shangyun seemed somewhat astonished.

”Probably not yet; he said he wanted these materials to try setting an array. I think Jing Yan plans to learn about array setting. He probably has some methods for array setups, so he wants to give it a try,” Zhou Che analyzed.

Hearing this, Prince Zhou Shangyun let out a slight breath of relief.

That was more reasonable.

Otherwise, describing Jing Yan as both an alchemist and an Array Master with the term ’monster’ might not even do him justice.

”Don’t worry about it; once he realizes the difficulties of array setting, he will give it up. Hehe, becoming an Array Master is not easy. The time and effort needed for Array Dao are definitely not lesser than for Alchemy Dao,” Prince Zhou Shangyun laughed as he waved his hand dismissively.

His statement was indeed the truth.

In the Lanqu County City area, there were much fewer Array Masters compared to Alchemists, not even one-tenth as many. However, the uses of Array Dao were far less than those of Alchemy Dao.

Almost all martial artists needed Elixirs for their cultivation. But Array Dao, generally speaking, was only needed by those great families to set up formations.

It could be said that pursuing Array Dao was much harder than Alchemy Dao. The resources needed for setting arrays were far more daunting than for alchemy, and the rate of failure in the early stages of array setting was quite high. Even a minor error could destroy the majority of the materials used and render them worthless.

Array Dao was definitely not something ordinary martial artists could afford to engage with. Even those great families rarely trained Array Masters. Not that they didn’t want to, but the cost was too great. Great Families had a hard time supporting it.

...

Jing Yan, in his own room, placed all the materials in front of him, his eyes slightly narrowed.

”Let’s start with the Micro Array version of the Seven Killings Soul-Locking Array!” Jing Yan picked up an Array Plate, first closing his eyes, feeling the information about the Micro Array version of the Seven Killings Soul-locking True from Qiankun Array Dao.

Immediately after, he began to move. Initially, his actions were quite slow and seemed a bit awkward. But as time passed, his movements became faster and faster, continually placing various materials on the Array Plate.
