Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1710 - 1711: The Particular Qi Xiaoqi

Listening to the sour words from the in-law, Mother Cheng only felt it was unbearable and slightly pressed her lips, holding back her temper.

”It’s not that I’m boasting, but I haven’t seen a child as smart and sensible as our Xiao Qi.” Mother Cheng put down the spoon and looked at Father Qi, saying, ”How about you try feeding him?”

Father Qi was quite intrigued, imitating her actions. Having seen his wife’s failure, he didn’t dare to use his mouth to test the temperature, just cooled it down before giving it to the grandson, who readily accepted it and ate with an open mouth.

Mother Cheng proudly lifted her chin, looking at Mother Qi. Her gaze almost said, ”This is speaking with facts.”

Mother Qi felt increasingly embarrassed.

”Actually, despite the child being young, his ears are clear, and his eyes are sharp. He’s aware of everything he sees and hears. Since he started eating solid food, his mother has always emphasized not to chew food with the mouth before feeding the child, saying it has bacteria that can infect the child. Kids have weak immunity; if unfortunately caught, they will get sick and so on.” Mother Cheng explained, ”I felt very defiant at that time, saying we fed them like this countless times in their childhood, didn’t we raise them big this way?”

Mother Qi’s face slightly brightened and said, ”Right? Didn’t they all grow up tall and strong? If you don’t test the hot or cold, what if it’s too hot or cold? The child’s throat is small, and if the food is hard or too chunky, wouldn’t he choke?”

”Exactly, exactly; I also said that. Cheng Su said all eating should be gradual. Nowadays, look at the porridge; it’s so soft and silky, almost like rice cooked with more water, convenient for him to eat. People now are more particular, quite different from our time. Cheng Su emphasizes all this for the child’s benefit. It’s not just me; even she doesn’t dare to taste with the mouth before feeding. With all this back and forth, Xiao Qi knows that he won’t eat food that others taste.” Mother Cheng said with a laugh, complimenting, ”Looking at his temper, he’s just like his father, stubborn.”

At this point, what else could Mother Qi say? She just pouted.

As they talked, Father Qi had already fed half of the small bowl of porridge to the child and said, ”Actually, this is good. We elders, being older, might not show signs of ailments until they act up, but the body’s functions are what they are; if they really get passed on, such a young child, unlike adults, won’t have the resistance and could fall ill.”

”Weren’t their siblings in Taiguo all healthy too?” Mother Qi was still unsettled in her heart, insisting on arguing a point.

”How can they be compared? We used to eat tree bark and clay, but now?” Father Qi gave her a look and said, ”You should remember this and not feed like that anymore.”

”You’re the only ones who are particular.” Mother Qi snorted, huffing as she entered the room and closed the door.

Father Qi shook his head: ”Stubborn old woman, doesn’t listen.” Then he said to Mother Cheng, ”In-law, don’t be upset; let her figure it out herself.”

Mother Cheng laughed and said, ”I’m not upset, just worried she’ll struggle with it. It’s not that we’re being particular; it’s the child who is. If he doesn’t eat, should we force-feed him? Being particular is good; at least the child is healthy. Isn’t that what we elders hope for?”

”Yes, yes!”

Qi Xiaoqi was quite cooperative with grandpa, being held by grandma, finishing the small bowl of porridge, blinking his big eyes; he looked immensely clever.
