Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 374: Chapter 374: Honestly Confess to the Leader

After dinner, Cheng Su was registering the ticket revenue that Qiulan had brought back and doing the accounts while chatting with Qi Taiguo about visiting the Ying family’s home tomorrow evening.

”If you need to be on duty and can’t go, it’s no problem, but if you’re free, let’s go together,” Cheng Su said.

Qi Taiguo replied, ”I don’t need to be on duty. Should we leave together, or shall we go separately?”

”Let’s leave together!”

Qi Taiguo hummed in agreement, ”Susu...”

”Hmm?”

Cheng Su did not lift her head, still engrossed in the accounts. Now she was in charge of the company’s affairs. Although she would still visit the restaurant, she didn’t go there daily, as Old Song and Qiulan were managing it.

Therefore, after closing each day, Li Qiulan was responsible for collecting the day’s revenue and handing it over to Cheng Su for accounting.

This was also due to the trust in Qiulan. Cheng Su had been doing the accounts for many days and hadn’t discovered any discrepancies in the finances for the time being.

Not hearing Qi Taiguo’s response, Cheng Su looked up and saw him looking like he had something to say but was hesitating. She found it odd.

”What’s wrong? Is there something troubling you?” Cheng Su asked.

Qi Taiguo smiled and said, ”It’s nothing. I was just wondering, what sort of gifts should we bring to Xiao Ya’s family?”

He thought about it and decided not to mention Chiang Qing’s actions during the day to Cheng Su, to avoid her overthinking it.

Cheng Su found it strange but didn’t press further; she simply responded to his question and continued to immerse herself in the accounting work.

It was almost the end of the month, and it was time to pay the staff’s wages. She roughly estimated that this month’s income was higher than the last, not sure if it was because the restaurant had expanded and there were more customers ordering à la carte dishes.

As she watched their savings slowly increase, Cheng Su’s desire to open a branch store rekindled. She really did not want to miss out on the business opportunity near the train station.

”Hey, what do you think it means when a woman is very attentive to a man and gives him gifts?” Qi Taiguo finally couldn’t hold back and asked as if it were an offhand question.

”What else could it mean? She likes him and wants to date him,” Cheng Su replied without a second thought, absorbed in her own thoughts.

Could it be?

Qi Taiguo paused while turning a page. Did Chiang Qing actually fall for him?

Cheng Su also realized what she had said after reflecting on her own words, looked over and asked, ”What’s the matter, has something happened?”

Qi Taiguo cleared his throat, a bit flustered. Just as he was trying to find an excuse, Cheng Su warned him, ”Commander Qi, you know that lying will be met with the utmost penalty, right?”

Unable to dodge the issue, Qi Taiguo simply shared Chiang Qing’s actions and earnestly said, ”I’ve honestly reported to the ’commander’ here, and I rejected her firmly and upstandingly, absolutely not betraying the organization.”

”A firm rejection isn’t enough. You should have harshly sent her away and maintained a hundred-meter distance. Let me tell you, the scent of a Fox Spirit can attract from afar. Don’t let pride get to you, thinking you’re something because someone has taken a fancy to you. That’s how they lay traps, and one foot is already caught. The other just needs a slight nudge, and you’ll fall right into the fox’s den,” Cheng Su said, getting increasingly agitated and annoyed.

What was this, this Chiang Qing clearly wanted to mess with her husband.

Fine, if they think she’s a pushover when she doesn’t show her claws, they better not let her catch them, or she would make sure they’d be humiliated all the way to the Yangtze River!
