Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 352: Chapter 352: I’ll Come Clean to the Organization

Cheng Su withdrew her hand, her expression not softened in the slightest, Qi Taiguo felt panicked and asked, ”Tell me, what do I have to do for you to forgive me this time?”

”These past few days, you ignored me, didn’t look at me, didn’t speak to me, I really felt terrible inside, especially just now when you were so nice to Ning Ge but pushed me aside, I really felt like beating him to death,” Qi Taiguo complained sourly.

Cheng Su sneered, ”Isn’t this all brought on by yourself?”

”Yes, I brought it on myself. Who made me a bastard? I’m the one suffering here. Wife, can’t you just let it go this time, please?” Qi Taiguo said with a face about to cry.

Cheng Su glared at him for a while and asked, ”What task did you go on yesterday?”

Qi Taiguo was startled, wondering how the conversation had suddenly turned to this, but he didn’t overthink it and answered, ”It wasn’t any special task, just following the team’s military doctor to the neighboring city to pick up some medicinal reagents.”

”Oh? What kind of reagents are so important that they require Commander Qi himself to go and not return for the entire night?” Cheng Su’s eyes were sharp, and she quickly changed the subject, ”Or perhaps there was a femme fatale, and you loitered and forgot to return?”

Qi Taiguo was taken aback, his expression turned grave as he said, ”What femme fatale? You’re talking nonsense. I was originally on my way back yesterday, but halfway through the journey, the car suddenly had an issue. There were no villages ahead, no stores behind, and after we found someone to help fix it, it was already broad daylight.”

After he explained, he felt something was off and asked with a puzzled face, ”You’re asking about this, why?”

Cheng Su huffed, ”The military uniform soaking in the bathroom, that’s yours, right?”

Qi Taiguo made a sound of realization and hurried to the bathroom to look—wasn’t this the coat he gave to Chiang Qing last night?

Back then, she was just a small woman shivering from the cold, so he had no choice but to lend her his coat temporarily, but how did it end up here?

This was bad—it couldn’t be that Chiang Qing had returned it and caused Cheng Su to misunderstand, could it?

Damn it, why was Chiang Qing like this? Did she not know how to behave? Even if she had to return the coat, they were all in the same military unit; couldn’t she have brought it to his office? Why deliver it to his doorstep, setting him up for trouble!

Realizing what had happened, Qi Taiguo looked at Cheng Su with a sheepish smile and said, ”This is all a misunderstanding!”

Cheng Su’s eyes narrowed slightly, and he quickly raised his hands and said, ”I’ve honestly reported everything to the organization.”

Immediately after, Qi Taiguo spilled the beans, recounting the entire process of the task and declared solemnly, ”I swear on my honor as a soldier that I absolutely did not do anything to betray the organization, otherwise I’ll resign from my military position.”

Cheng Su wanted to laugh but held back, snorted, and said, ”But that’s not what she told me. She said you left some clothes at her place last night!”

Qi Taiguo’s face changed, and he said, ”That’s defamation. How can she be like this? I kindly lent her my clothes; how could she slander me like that? She’s truly devious. Wife, I really didn’t. Xiao Liu was with me too; if you don’t believe me, you can ask him.”

He cursed Chiang Qing again in his heart for causing unnecessary trouble and adding to his woes. Indeed, this task should never have been accepted; he should have firmly declined it.

Cheng Su didn’t disbelieve him and said, ”If you had kept your distance, she wouldn’t have had such an idea. Commander Qi, let me tell you, she’s a true femme fatale, you better watch out!”

According to the legend, Medusa’s gaze would turn a man to stone. Chiang Qing wasn’t Medusa, but also a femme fatale. If a man got entangled with her, it all depended on whether he succumbed or kept his distance!
