Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 373: Chapter 373 She Wants to Conquer Him

”Commander Qi, it’s not that I look down on your wife, Cheng Su, that’s her name, right? She’s just a country girl who didn’t even finish high school, how could she be worthy of you?” Chiang Qing blurted out despite Qi Taiguo’s astonishment, continuing, ”Commander Qi, you have a promising future, you deserve better.”

Qi Taiguo was not pleased to hear her disparage Cheng Su and his face turned cold as he said, ”Doctor Chiang, my wife is very good, please do not insult her. Moreover, I am also from the countryside, both my wife and I are country folk, we are a natural match.”

Chiang Qing became anxious, ”That’s not what I mean, I didn’t say you...”

”Enough,” Qi Taiguo furrowed his brows, ”I don’t know what Doctor Chiang intends to do, nor am I interested in finding out. If it’s about official business, you can report to me, or to the company commander or regimental commander. But for personal matters, I believe my acquaintance with Doctor Chiang is merely casual, and our relationship is not close enough to discuss private matters. Please keep your professional and personal lives separate.”

”You!” Chiang Qing’s face changed color.

She had been considering his situation from his perspective, for goodness’ sake. She had seen his file, knew very well what kind of person he was, and had heard many colleagues praise him; even her father said that if this man didn’t suffer any major setbacks, his future was bright.

So why should he be held back by such a woman?

”Additionally, Doctor Chiang, as you are a city dweller, your lifestyle might not quite align with ours from the countryside. We are more traditional, once married we do not divorce, and we definitely do not get involved with married individuals lightly. On this point, I would request that you respect me and also respect my wife, and be mindful of the influence,” Qi Taiguo said sharply, his tongue poisoned by her carelessly chosen words and sarcasm toward Cheng Su, which he could not tolerate.

By now, he was certain that Chiang Qing was utterly mad, who else would be so brazen in their attempts to become involved with him?

With that thought, Qi Taiguo stood up and ’escorted’ her out the door.

Chiang Qing’s self-esteem was deeply wounded by Qi Taiguo’s attitude.

Since birth, she had been The Proud Daughter of Heaven, admired for her background and excellence. Hadn’t everyone always catered to her whims, and when had she ever truly cared about any man?

As for men, a nod and a smile from her were enough to make any of them jump for joy, who would dare to upset her?

Yet Qi Taiguo, alone, never showed her a friendly face, which greatly aroused her competitive spirit.

In contrast to those men who fawned over her, Chiang Qing held no regard for them. It was Qi Taiguo who, the less he sugarcoated his words and the further he kept his distance, avoiding her at any cost, the more it made her want to conquer him.

In fact, she didn’t quite understand herself. In the short span of a little over a month since meeting Qi Taiguo and deliberately coming to this military area, it was as if she had been bewitched, her eyes fixated on Qi Taiguo alone.

This man, she, Chiang Qing, wanted to conquer him!

This realization had dawned on Chiang Qing early on, which is why she had repeatedly withstood Qi Taiguo’s indifference.

After being pushed out the door by Qi Taiguo, Chiang Qing looked at the door to his office, flames flickering in her eyes. One day, she vowed, he would kneel at the hem of her pomegranate dress.

”Doctor Chiang,” a soldier walking by greeted her, and Chiang Qing put on her ice queen facade, nodding faintly, and walked away in her high-heeled leather shoes.

Qi Taiguo listened to the sound of the receding high heels from behind the door and breathed a sigh of relief, but upon recalling Chiang Qing’s earlier actions, he shivered involuntarily.

This woman is a bit crazy, he thought, better to stay as far away from her as possible!
